I have an Otter cabin x-over and the front door version if pulling it is a concern on the 2nd one I put a much longer rope on it and it pulls much easier because I’m not trying to pick up as much weight and keeping the resistance more even across the sled and less on the back. I have hubs and if I’m going to work a spot because of the structure and not search as much the hub is the way to go.

Thanks guys that will help a lot. Anyone have an ice report from St Croix lake to taylor falls?

I haven’t used the lite flite but I had two lazer power augers and i had trouble with the blade pitch getting messed up on both of them. I would guess the plastic end on the lite flite would be more consistent with that. I use a Milwaukee m18 fuel with my pistol bit and haven’t had any issues.

I’m fishing wherever I can find safe ice. In central ND the birds, weather and water flow have made it a little tough to find good ice.

My go to baits to start are ul rippin rap or slab rap the 2nd is the biggest silver kastmaster they will bite. Craziest jig for slabs was a #7 jigging rap, on the lake I used it they wouldn’t hit a #5 or smaller.

The 1st tucr I got was a 28″ precision and it seemed a little light for walleye. I got a 32″ and it is like two different rods. The longer the more backbone you get. If I was going to go to a lake with perch, crappie and walleye with one rod I would probably go with the 28″ precision over the 32″ fusion just because of the backbone.

Can’t really go wrong with either.

I use as big as they will bite. I have a lot of fiskas and clam. I usually buy them at the end of the year when they are on clearance.

True but some of the pro staffers get to use the equipment the season before. I know all of the shows that guy from devils lake I won’t name records all his shows the year before they air and he has all the new stuff from that blue company.

Definitely bullwhip if your going to just get one. I have 3 and love them. 2 paired with freefall ghosts and one with ceymar c-10. I added a 36″ fusion this year and if you pencil grip it I don’t have any issues in my otter cabin. You will love a tucr. They see too notch.

I haven’t used a bobber in about 3 years. I have the tucr deadstick in a 32″and 36″. They are like two completely different rods. The 32″ makes a 15″ eye seem pretty big and the 36″ makes it feel small. I also run them with the okuma baitfeeder sitting them on an HT balancing rod holder. This set is pretty deadly. I use gamakatsu circle hooks so I can let them take it for a long time without deep hooking them.

If you go with the big clam box there is a cheaper plano box that I’m pretty sure is the same box for 2/3 of the price. I have the small plano and the tiny clam and love them both.

I went with the marcum vx-1p(now the m-1) a couple years ago because I found them on clearance. Pretty basic but did a great job. I still have two that I use as backups and if I have a group of guests. I like that it has the zoom opinion in a base model.

I got some 13 fishing coconut crabs on clearance and they have been my new go to for crappie and gills.

The flights are replaceable. There are four sections with a retainer that is screwed on to the shaft. If you don’t want to replace one of the sections I think u can take it off and move the retainer down.

I think this is one of the best times to get into ice fishing. If you have a good cordless drill you can have a power auger for very little money. With the introduction of the hub houses you can get an insulated house for under $400 and the older electronics are selling for fairly cheap. One of the biggest things I do is make my big purchases at the end of the year. I got 2 marcum m3 flashers for less than $300 each at the end of last year.
Sometimes you can find stores moving last years stock on Ebay. I got my striker climate suit for under $300 last two years ago.

I bought the 8″ pistol bit this year to replace the ion bit I had the last 2 years. It cuts a lot smother and faster than the ion and seems to start better. The walk isn’t too bad as long as you start slow. It doesn’t grab at the bottom of the hole like the hand augers without the ring. The only thing I don’t like about it is I had to modify my digger auger rack because the shaft size is too big to fit in the plastic holders. All in all I am very happy with it.

I have a 32″ split grip paired with a okuma inspira 20b and it is the first rod I grab for eyes using everything from 3/16 oz spoons to #7 jigging raps it shines on every level. You will not be disappointed.

I switched to the deadstick a few years ago with a cheap, kind of stiff noodle rod and my hook up percentages went way up. I don’t think it’s as much about resistance as it is about change of pressure. You can have a small bobber that will barely float your bait and when you go to take out the slack you can add a little too much pressure and they will drop the bait. With the deadstick it might be higher pressure but it is consistent until you go to set the hook. I’m not an expert but with inactive eyes I miss way less fish with a deadstick.

I just run regular suffix ice magic with a swivel and a fluorocarbon leader. When I bought my first tucr I had braid on it and the first thing I noticed was the guides made a lot of noise. It could affect the way the line comes thought the guides. How are you holding the rod?

1/12 silver kastmaster no bait. Seems like it can make them bite when they don’t really want too.

I use a ceymar 10 on my 32″ and I’m going to put a 13 freefall ghost on my 28″. Love my other two ghost on the bull whip and the precision noodle of you want an inline.

I got some microspikes last year and won’t ever use anything else. I’m a pretty big guy and never felt very confident with cleats pulling my fish house and I can run with it in these. It almost seems like they don’t rely on the rubber to hold them on the boot but they actually grip on the bottom when you step.

The best addition this year had to be the tucr deadstick paired with that okuma avenger baitfeeder reel. Missed alot less fish than the old bobber setup. Tied for 2nd is the otter led house light and the otter xth lodge. The tucr Fushion is next on the list. Great for perch, crappie and gills with small spoons and #4 ul rippin raps.

I’ve never seen one in person but it looks like it would be comfortable to use. The main concern would be that it looks like it would be very slippery if you got your gloves wet fishing out side on a cold day. I think it would be a great rod of someone with arthritis because of the angle of your wrist and the larger size of the grip.

Thanks for the info guys. My boss has a house on the lake and he said all they catch in the winter is small fish. I’m not sure if they move their house around much.

On the magnums we had in the early 90s to early 2000s if they cut good and started cutting slow and hard with a sharp blade we would sharpen the chisel point and would make a world of difference. We just used a file to get it fairly sharp and finished it with a stone or a knife steel.

Late last year scheels had the remaining tucr on sale for $85 to $90. Just be careful I ended up replacing all my rods so I didn’t save anything.

The lazer power auger won’t fit the ion power head but you can get the k-drill clam plate adapter to fix that.

Another thing to try is make sure the bolt heads are on the same side of the shaft. If there is play it should put the drill back I the center of the shaft rotation.
