And here’s some 26-27” walleyes that didn’t quite make the magical 28” mark.

July 19, 2022 at 2:18 pm #2136310A rare fish nowadays indeed. The question is, did you catch any lake trout too?
Yep, kept a 2 pd dink that we ate fresh and 3 nice 4-6 pounders that will go on the smoker.
July 19, 2022 at 8:20 am #2136194I only wanted to post one picture. Seems like I do that every time I try to post a fish picture on this site.
April 11, 2022 at 9:42 am #2115450I’m sure lots of programs would love to be in the NCHC. They’ve won 5 of the last 6 national championships. Every year the ESPN hockey guru’s promote the heck outta the Big10 teams…
March 23, 2022 at 6:37 am #2110072Does this mean I can get my RABC Permit?
Nope. There are currently no plans to reinstate the RABC program. Hopefully that changes.

,,,,,cut some dead poles to make a roof structure,,,,,, Snuggle up next to shore in the rocks find a place that has rocks just above the ice to build your fire and a flat rock on top of the fire box area is even better. The BWCA has regulations against such practices. No structures allowed and camping and fires are only allowed in designated campsites. That pile of ashes and half burned logs will continue to be there long after you leave. BWCA rules apply ALL year long
PERMITS REQUIRED
Regardless of time of year, day-use or overnight permits are required within the Boundary Waters. You must also comply with your permit and only enter the BWCA at the entry point and on the entry date shown on your permit.CAMPFIRES
Fires are only allowed within the steel fire grates at designated campsites or as specifically approved on your visitor’s permit.CAMPSITES
Camp only at Forest Service designated campsites that have steel fire grates and wilderness latrines. Do not build structures,,,,,From October through April you do not need to camp at a designated campsite.
December 22, 2020 at 8:19 pm #1999747My guess is that at lot of those fish are dinks. I don’t know what bodies of water you are fishing but slower is often better for bigger fish on the inland lakes that I fish. Sometimes speed kills but the big fish rarely suspend. Superior is a different game.
December 20, 2020 at 11:02 am #1998917I’ve been pretty fortunate this year. Lots of inconveniences but that’s about it. I know lots of people have taken a huge hit this year and I sincerely hope 2021 is a good year for them. I have a feeling 2021 is gonna have a pretty rough start. Hopefully things level out a bit.
December 20, 2020 at 8:11 am #1998831I caught a lot of walleyes this summer but not many big fish. Here’s a 29” my daughter caught.

July 28, 2019 at 7:43 pm #1870219I’ve never fished Snowbank but it’s probably similar to my favorite Gunflint Trail walleye lakes. I wish I could help but I really suck in September on those deep trout lakes. I haven’t spent much time trying to figure it out cause it’s hunting season. The walleyes I have caught in September have been on my same summer rock piles just deeper. If you can find a reef or point that stair steps down try the 30-40’ shelves.
July 28, 2019 at 10:36 am #1870090Just a smidge under 30”. Not sure if it even weighed 5 pds.

July 3, 2019 at 9:47 pm #1865836Dang kevin where do you live. Those are some nice fish you guys are plucking out
I live close to the Boundary Waters. I have a few favorite lakes that produce some quality fish.
June 24, 2019 at 8:53 am #1863749It sounds like you have found one spot. Once you find some more spots you’ll be dialed in. It’s not uncommon for me to catch one or two walleyes on each spot throughout the day. Some days I can catch several fish on the same rock pile but that’s not the norm.
