I sgree. I todsed out all old line and started over. Sometimes when cinching a knot onn 6 lb it just stresses and breaks. Pretty small dismeter. Some of the other joining to fluoro and braid knots just dont work on 6 lb. Larger dia is fine

I know you asked specifically about fluorocarbon knots, but just to offer one more idea: have you tried mono or copolymer? I used to have random breakages with fluorocarbon, from several brands and with several knots. I got sick of losing big fish, so I switched to mono and copolymer lines. That solved the problem for me. IMO, quality mono and copolymer lines are great lines and very underrated.

Years ago I had same issue one day….turns out my leader was was too short from my bottom bouncer…..needs to be at least 6 feet due to water clarity….go to Tutts Bait in Garrison and pick up some of her homemade spinners….they work great….
Changed my spinner success years ago.
I always keep afew on board…

I have same year and motor….no talon , though, and a 9.9 kicker
mine runes a little slower but can get a slight porpose unless throttle is wide open.
Have to drop throttle down to stop that unless wave action is none.If no waves in calm condition, have to throttle back or WFO…

With 4 people in boat it takes forever to plane unless someone stands forward next to pilot……
I just learned to live with it as boat motor is bulletproof
don’t want to go back to 2 stroke…..
makes a difference whether live well is full of water ,too

Prince bait usually has them…my bait shop of choice
The ones in Isle wouldn’t know a redtail or spottail shiner if it bit em
Id call first as redtails were short supply….

The Millelacs tribe bought lundeens….came from a good source
They are buying up whatever they can…
My bet is they will close and remove it….just like the other resorts they bought……dont kid yourself….fishing is great but activity is not near what it was 10 years ago…
Hopefully a new governor can get the management of this lake back on track with equal rights for all.

This bait shop has been there forever….my grandpa stopped there in the 70’s
first bait shop on the lake from the south……I only went there occasionally as I could “feel the love” wasn’t there, but they had what you wanted…..still too bad.
I have a place on the SE side and the best place for me is Prince Bait on 169 on the way up…Their jumbo leeches were twice the size of the ones in Isle.
They have what you need and know your name.
Tried to get spottail shiners this spring in Isle and no one had any nor knew what they were…..We could use Robbs bait back in Isle but the Tribe bought and destroyed the building he was in and went out of business….heard he recently might get back in….Hope so as fishing has been great and you guys that went elsewhere are missing out….The people are leaving the area for jobs and have seen several instances of Jamaicans up working in various businesses for the summer because they cant find wait staff, etc….
The structure spots that had many boats typically have little traffic…Good for me , but you can see the activity level is about 15% of what it used to be….Glad I don’t have a loan to pay on a business or a resort and would need to sell for retirement….maybe Lundeens are pulling the plug.
Anyway, support the businesses up there as best we can.And keep in front of your legislators…

    Bought a carbon 9 3D $300 more than structurescan….
and 2 more years additional warranty for free…

thought that that type of technology is where they are headed…
can always turn it off……My understanding is it is a slightly better transducer than the 2D one…

I’d be kicking my butt I coulda, shoulda bought the 3D etc…..so sprung for it
    Thanks
    Greg

was up to the Rainy River this week….
lots of slot fish in the river.
nothing big…locals use 1 oz gold /pink/white jigs w an emerald shiner.
we seem to have the best luck on them, but anything that
has visibility in the murky water of the river.
    Current was strong….
    misc sturgeon this week…..
make sure you bring a batt operated bait bucket of the otters will clean you out at night.
Be careful as boats will run right by you at anchor WFO…most rude anglers ,I have ever seen
    good luck

We fished only during the day saturday and sunday. Caught 8 sat and i went out solo on sunday starting at 11 am to 3 pm , sunday.caught 6 and 3 smallies and a 29 inch northern. Smallest was 23 inches with most 26 and 27 inch…Water was deep…27 foot
And 22 foot as sun was high and they wanted shiners .
Two of the better days i have had because all were big fish.
Spawned out but healthy.this was central and SW part of lake.
Hardly anyone fishing , except 3 mile had 20 boats on it.
A memoreable couple days for me.
Only saw a couple of launches…..i feel sorry for the resorters.
I ll buy my fish at Teals if i can catch big hawgs like this on 6 lbtest….the governor is in the tribes back pocket. And the dnr works for him.

They(the Bands) are after the lake and everything around it.
They want 55,000 acres to be the treaty area, that’s why the fight with the county on cooperative police agreement.Thats why they are trying to get the ricing issue and walleye issue around Gull Lake into Federal court.
Now the DNR says its a baitfish issue….They haven’t learned much….
    This is a political football,period
Dayton has been in touch w the Band at Millelacs and helped negotiate this.
Also in the Bands back pocket
So this is about all the lakes up north.
They didn’t net last year but speared( this takes larger fish…and more females)one with the land…right
BTW…they still can take 10 fish of any designation any day after they are done netting.
Maybe if Trump’s regime survives , we might have someone who has the power to stop this baloney…all men should be under the same game and fish laws.

I am getting one installed from a dealer next week.I also talked to Minnkota and the changes were made last year. The product will be labeled BT after the model signifying Blue tooth. The serial numbers starting w Q,R are the newest. There is a hockey puck sized disk that is part of the external compass and is powered by 115v….This must be mounted as far from the unit as possible.
My dealer reports he has not had many complaints and I will be getting the latest unit.I am sure he will take care of me…

Its great to have access to many peoples experience on products like this.
I appreciate the posts…..good and bad
    Thanks IDO members!
