I am in SW Wiscosnin and found a few Monday night 04-26. Mostly thumb size. I agree without some warm weather soon, we will lose the battle to underbrush again.
Not sure what size rig you are pushing but @ full throttle you will burn a pile of fuel. Each engine has a mind of its own. Try starting it as instructed as the previous owner stated. DO NOT PUT ANY PLUG IN IT OTHER THAN THE RECOMEDED PLUG FROM jOHNSON. I do not know what brand you have in there but I have always ran Champion in my boats. (all Johnsons) Your ball should pump up hard and stay hard. You may want to look at the hose from the tank to the motor. Do you smell raw fuel? Replace if you do. A can of Sea Foam can help clean the carbs. 1 can / 26 gallons I beleive, read the directions. You should be able to average 2.5 MPG to maybe 3MPG @ 5200 RPM. Full throttle / loaded 1.5 MPG, if your lucky. If these do not help, bite the bullet and take it to a reliable mechanic.
For a Wisconsin license holder I do not beleive you can venture in to Iowa waters without a Iowa licens????? It seems to me I heard of a person getting pinched for that once upon a time????? Just something you may want to check in to further.
I live in Fennimore and found my fist few Good Friday. Monday night after Sundays rain I found 32. Then last night I found a few more but it was getting pretty dry. South facing hillside.
Life long nick name, grub, grubby, griz, I answer to all. May have been the last name Govier, or it may have been the pony tail and beard in my younger days.
It is SAD! I could not wait to get it, and I could sit for a couple hours to read, cover to cover. The latest issue was the worst. Virtualy no BFL data.
As for another magazine, I have not found one that is not filled with adds, and a couple of articals!
I would be interested with the E-Tech milage as well. I ran roughly 74 miles round trip with a tournement load and I estemate around a 1.3 MPG @ 5800 RPM. Can anyone, with an E-Tech make a comparison? 1998 / 200 HP Johnson 20.5′ 519 Ranger.
I called the tournement director yesterday and they were fully aware of the findings, and the artical. He told me that they were waiting for the DNR to comment and that they had a written release but was not sure when or where they would post. I beleive he quoted 13 dead fish from the actual tournement, 9 that were weighed in and 4 more on the release boat, all of which were donated to a nursing home? I expressed my concern that the FLW needed to do something. Sounded like it was a political issue to me.
