March 23, 2025 at 4:39 pm #2325850Yep Groll has a picture of a 32 incher he caught in the river on his FB page
March 23, 2025 at 12:44 pm #2325791He has been trying to sell it for some time, sure hope he dont just close it down,
March 23, 2025 at 12:33 pm #2325788Yep. Last year was nice. Starting to look like a 30 degree with 20 mph winds and snow type of year this year.
Some one should start up a boat motel up there for these types of years. Over sized stall with heated floor and power to keep the boats in over night. So nice to come out to a thawed out, dried out boat in the morning and be able to clean and re rig gear in warmth.
6 pages and nobody has caught a fish yet.
I thought groll caught some already
March 23, 2025 at 11:04 am #2325766mother nature is sure fighting us this year with more snow. hope 0nce it gets it out of its system and the river opens it will just give us decent weather to fish in
March 22, 2025 at 6:09 pm #2325715hope this keeps going, going to SD to fish the river a few days and then got a Drs. appointment on the 31st i cant miss and then hope to be coming north. hoping to get to meet some of you guys up there this year
March 21, 2025 at 11:43 am #2325451Anyone fish the new Kalins Search bait . You tubers make it look appealing . I picked up 3 of them for this spring , somewhat pricey tungsten .
yes i bought some also, everything tungsten is pricey. also try the finisher jigs from berkley, they are not tungsten but they really catch fish
March 21, 2025 at 11:38 am #2325450X2 on Tom Huynhs classes,it taught me a lot. i had the basics down pretty good but the class helped me perfect it
March 20, 2025 at 11:00 am #2325147heard Groll pushed a small boat out already and the fish are there
March 18, 2025 at 4:04 pm #2324762We go out generally 3rd week of April (10th year), this year were heading out the second week. We stay on south bass (island club rentals). Fish are a mix of prespawn and post spawn. The guys are right about the weather, bring clothing for all seasons.
we will be there the 28th of april for three weeks, stay on south bass also. dont stay at island club anymore cause to hard to get around in there, we rent a house a block away from there with a big yard for boats. Good luck fishing

March 13, 2025 at 7:22 pm #2323712report from the Dutchman there is open water at Indus school. Is there some where to look at the river flow?
March 11, 2025 at 6:14 pm #2323270grizzly
As a general rule the Detroit River peaks around the 10th of April. It really depends on the spring weather and ice out of the lakes. The fishing will be very good usually a week on either side of that date.
If you go plan on jigs of half to 1oz. Some areas are VERY SNAGGY.
When you hit it right it’s a big fish bonanza.Thanks. been talking to a bait shop up there and they are catching a few fish already, sounds like its going to be a zoo up there at the boat ramp. one ramp is closed and there not thinking it will open in time for the rush. so just waiting to see what happens with the rainy or maybe going to port clinton and fish the big water, that is just starting now also.to many decisions LOL, got to be back in port Clinton the 27th of April for a 3 week trip. All this stress over these walleye

I’d call the Ontario Fish and Wildlife and hear it directly from the source (1-800-387-7011). I’d bring paper copies of everything just to be safe – I believe that type of stuff is up to the direction of the officer and you never know what kind of person you will be dealing with and how reasonable they will be. Also, saying the kid is only catching and releasing while you have fish in the livewell might be kind of a gray area (again, depending on the officer).Make sure you don’t have liquor (or other recreational substances) or live bait in your boat.
I won’t be keeping fish. Neither of us will
If i remember right you cant have any bait, dead or alive unless bought in canada and have a copy of receipt with you
March 9, 2025 at 9:37 am #2322608Scheels did the same thing with my order a couple weeks ago. it all came in different packages but just glad i got it all
March 8, 2025 at 4:01 pm #2322542The Rainy is the best for me cause i own a place up there north of Baudette, its nice if river opens up all the way cause then i can come up there alone and put boat in myself, if i have to come way east to put boat in i need the wife and she dont like the long lines so will see what works best and timing.not against trying something new
March 8, 2025 at 2:42 pm #2322533Ok guys you were talking about fishing green bay, i know nothing about this so what can you tell me about it? I may come up and fish the rainy if opens in time cause i have done this before or maybe the Detroit river for a change. Do you fish a river system also at green bay or what? Im interested if its big fish, please give me some info
March 4, 2025 at 3:56 pm #2321580the search bait works good butttt if you are on a lake like LOTW and really catch the huge walleyes alot the slow death hook will pull the little clip apart and you lose big fish. a buddy of mine showed me this cause this is the only way he fishes now. we take the little clip off now and use a split ring instead.
March 4, 2025 at 10:03 am #2321497Why don’t you have a box for every type and color. Do you need more crankbaits. Yes the problem is not enough crankbaits. I discovered I don’t have enough silver and gold crankbaits because I could fit them all in one 3700. If you have so many crankbaits that it would be absurd to take them all you’ll only need a couple of 3700s in the boat with you. Problem solved.
No they all go in the boat poop happens and sometimes they are lost or damaged. we fish Lake Erie in spring and with 3 of us in the boat we can fish 9 rods at a time on planer boards. and some days a certain color is popping and run 4-6 of the same color
March 3, 2025 at 10:24 am #2321242I have seen a few pictures of lures in some kind of a clear plastic or something that looks like you could roll it up and maybe unroll out flat.what are these called and anyone else use these? thoughts please
