Just back from 3.5 days of solid fishing on Rainy Lake. The weather was absolutely outstanding given the time of year. Saturday a bit tougher with 10-15mph straight out of the East.

Shore lunch on the daily, with at least 15 big fish ranging between 24 to 29.25 over the 3 days.

Fished MN side mainly, east of the Brule and one day trip up into the NW Bay.

    Pics to be shared later.

Thanks Dutch… Paul Douglas says the temps should hold for another two weeks. toast

Wouldn’t be my first time wetting a line in snow/sleet on Rainy!

Fall trip September 27th through October 2nd. Staying on Grindstone near T-bird. Got the long undies ready for those morning rides.

If anyone is fishing NW Bay and/or MN east of Brule, would appreciate any reports on fish moving to reefs and maybe water temps/transition to minnows vs. Leech/Crawler.

Out for three hours last night. Water temps up to 51-52 in the Stillwater area. 3 for the box, and 3 shorts, pulling live bait in 10-14.

Going to head a bit further south Saturday Morning for a 5-6 hour stretch, to see what’s happening.

Fished Stillwater, down to swing bridge on 4/30. Water was 44.5 at Wolf Marine and was consistent throughout never getting over 45.5. Caught 9 total, 5 keepers. Trolled in 6-8 for two fish, then used graph to mark some pods and caught the rest on live bait rigs.

Terrible weather, with the wind and rain.

Another in our party caught this beaut pulling raps in shallow water.

Looking to get out tomorrow evening for a few hours.

You’re the man Ron. I’ll let you know how it goes upon our return.

The Park Headquarters with the nice ramp is actually in Black Bay, so technically part of the Rat Root as you get deeper in there. Lots of good fishing in Black Bay, but also lots of hazards if you’re not familiar.

Not local, but long time cabin owner in the area.

There are waiting lists at most of the resort slips, and they’re not covered. Rainy Lake Marina will dry dock it, which is as close to covered as you’ll get I think.

I was up 9-15 thru 9-20 with a large group. Fished way east everyday, and caught lots of slots 19-22, but the bite would be 45-90 minutes a time and shut off for hours. Usual pattern, popping around mid lake reefs 25-35 feet. Jigging and rigging, pulled some BB when things got slow to try and trigger bites. Ultimately we were lucky to have good weather, and low winds. Overall it sounds like things continue to be very slow with lots of dinks. I hope you guys find it to be different!
