I bought the mount, a little spendy but I’m glad I did. I was going to use a Ram X-grip mount but it isn’t as solid as the itroll mount. You have to have the Ram Base and Arm they are not included in the mount setup. I also purchased the Hunt program.

I just installed mine and got on the water for the first time yesterday. I had several questions during the install and Joel answered them in a timely manner and clearly. I didn’t have time to do any programming yesterday but I did get the Min and Max set easily. I trolled for about an hour using the manual side of the iTroll, very smooth and responsive.
I replaced my old analog Trollmaster with the iTroll. So far so good.

I highly recommend EZEE Steps and a Drotto Boat Latch system to replace the top roller on the winch stand. Big safety issue for me when by myself (bad leg) and my wife loves the Drotto when she goes with me when unloading and loading. No more standing on the trailer tongue for the person backing the trailer. I fish out of Ranger 619. Go to their website and take a look.

Here is a pic showing the EZEE STEPS and the Drotto Latch.

Do you guys use braid, mono or fluorocarbon? Maybe a softer rod with braid?

If you have a Vexilar charger, just charge it until the red light comes back on.

My glasses, they landed right on the rock pile we were fishing 10ft deep, 18ft off to the side. I got them back on the first try with a jiggin rapala, that hooked them right in nose pads. Lucked out. Numerous jigs,a slush dipper etc.
Last year my Samsung Galaxy3, I didn’t get that back. -(

I think I will forego going to Minnesota this year, and go to South Dakota. I can take Highway 9 over to South Dakota and then get on Interstate 29 or 90 depending on where I am going. I live in Spirit Lake, IA. What a joke!!!

Get some Gun Scrubber degreaser. Take the side plate off to expose the gears and de-grease them. I then use a couple of drops of Quantum Hot Sauce reel oil. Problem solved.

I think it is really important that you use a snap swivel, instead of just a snap if you tie the leader in to the leadcore with the willis knot, Red Phillips knot or whatever. If you don’t and foul the bait or get a fish that spins, you will have a kinked up mess in the leadcore. If you want to just use a snap, you need to use a small swivel to tie the leader to the leadcore. I have gone to a swivel with the 832 as it is really tough to tie a willis in this leadcore. I haven’t tried the Red Phillips knot but plan to this summer.

I used the Suffix 832 Advanced leadcore the last two seasons, with no issues. I have 5 colors on Abu 6500LC’s. I use a 20 ft 10lb Flouro leader. A friend of mine did have some issues of the lead breaking and coming through the sheath. I didn’t have that problem.

Mid June. Two couples, we have two boats and need electricity etc for the boats. Walleye, primarily but also like smallies, crappie, perch etc. If we end up in the Miltona area, I will have to bring my muskie stuff.

Good advice to check with Kabele’s. Ice condition is not good West Okoboji is still open in the middle and the bays are just getting iced. Big Spirit is capped but there are many open spots yet and with the wind tonight and tomorrow it may open up again. Little Anglers seems to be fishable. The temps are going to plummet tomorrow and be very cold the next several days, so hopefully that will be making ice very fast.

By the 13th hopefully there will be safe ice.

Spirit is slow, been reports of a few walleyes being caught at night casting jigs and ripple shads. I have been on West Okoboji the last couple of days catching gills, they are deep 30-35 feet. Some perch and yellow bass being caught in the weeds 12-17 ft.
