The event is this weekend. We need to be in Oconto tomorrow by 4pm. Fishing Friday, Saturday & Sunday (50/50 shot at Sunday). Check out the AIM Fishing website if you want the details on AIM.

Costs: $300 per co-angler for entry fee into AIM
    Gas ~$100 split
Lodging – $50 per night split ($150 3 nights) (depends on what we can find for a cheap motel room)
    WI – Non-resident license $24
    Food, drink etc.??

Looks like probably $450 per person before food and drink? We can lower that if we get a third person to join us. But still going to cost $300 per person for the AIM entry fee, which is nothing for 2 or 3 days of guided fishing with a pro team.

In most cases for me if the bite is decent and the perch are being a pest I switch to Gulp 4″ crawler. With this it has the small paddletail that can actually trigger a few more bites and you don’t need to worry about rebaiting the slow death hook after every nibble.

For blade techniques take a look at the Swedish pimples in your ice tackle and you’ll see something worth trying.

Everyone has pretty much covered it. Nicest kid friendly resort on the lake. Paul and his crew will stop at nothing to make sure your stay is perfect. My boat gets tied off bow pointed out when we stay and the all clear is given. The valet boat launching is the best thing going, kids really get a kick out of the tractor in the water. The upgrades and the remodeling are amazing. You won’t be disappointed with this choice.

I work at Hwy 55 and 169. Will be traveling to Mille Lacs Thursday night and can help get it to the Red door. Let me know.

I used a medium light rod and a 1/32oz jig tip with a little crawler to land this guy last weekend! (I was fishing bluegills, but maybe it’ll work for you!)

Problem solved. It was a bad key pad. Frankie’s plugged in a new one and no flashing on the new one. I was told this is seen most frequently when they are matched with Yamahas. Not sure why. Now cross my fingers Ranger is willing to warranty it, Frankies is working on that for me. This problem was evident from the day the boat was delivered.

I’ve installed three of the belt drive units over the past couple of years all in new construction garages. They’ve worked well. The Whisper drive I think was the ones we installed, easy do it yourself job (or with a third hand).

Pics added to the original post. And I uploaded some video to youtube that shows my keyless pad and operation. When the start button is on then the flashing LED turns off. Watch the video and let me know if this is normal operation?

I purchased the boat used from a private party (out of state). I did try calling one of the local dealers in Ham Lake and the person on the phone didn’t have a clue, kept going to ask someone else and eventually he just hung up on me. I’ll be working with another dealer in Chisago City at this point even though they are farther away.

Well we fished both points at the entrance to Creel Bay (Military Pt. and Rocky pt). Did ok one day on Rocky Pt in 28′ of water early AM. Right tight to the pressure ridge. Nothing after that. Fishing was very tough and the cold temps -10 for highs was tough to move around and get to know a new lake. Fishing was tough for just about every one from what I heard.

Steve, I’m heading up next week, fishing 12th-14th and then heading home on the 15th. We’ll be staying at Lakeview Lodge, so I’ll shoot you a report when we return. This is my first trip up there, so if you have any advice before we go that would be awesome! My main question now is, do I need to bring the ATV or can I drive around in a 2500HD diesel without going through? Looks like its going to be cold out there when we are there, highs near zero. I don’t want to drive around all day on an ATV in those temps!

Just heard from Shawn Perich, he says

“In six hunts with dogs, I’ve put up one grouse and two woodcock. I haven’t heard of anyone doing any better. The birds are really down.”

Does not sound good for our annual trip to Grand Marais. I guess we will have something to look forward to next year.

Thanks jetro, so there are a few stations along 671 north of Kenora? I have the Duramax with a 26 gallon tank, if I stay off the pedal and take it easy I shouldn’t have any problem on that round trip of 370 miles, as long as I don’t have a stong north wind! I hear the last 40 miles to Misty’s is a tough one with lots of 90’s and hills. Yes that is where we are going. Heading up with one other rookie and a bunch of vets, 8 people total. Should be a great time, really looking forward to the experience. I think to be on the save side I will pack a 5er just in case, hate to run that diesel out of fuel and need to go through the process of priming the pump again.

    Thanks!

I can check with him,..it shouldn’t be a problem. He might have a hard time with it and accidentally get the helmet switched though!~

Window perf is a sheet of vinyl with a bunch of tiny little holes in it (perforations). He uses white vinyl and prints then to whatever design you want (easy to color match). The reason for the perforations is so that you can see out the back, when driving you won’t even knows its there; except for the benefits reduced glare from that car behind you at night and keeps the sun out too during the day or on the highway. On the ones that are not laminated they had problems with water and ice clinging in the perfs and then you couldn’t see out the window, that is the main reason for laminating them now.

He gets ~$150 a piece for them (probably going to vary upon the amount of design work he needs to do), and I need to check but I am pretty sure if you are in the Metro he will come help you install it.

Some times a guy just needs to get on the gas, make sure you don’t look down at the INST ECON display at that time!

I really like the grade braking feature, it works in either Standard or Tow Haul mode, more promient in Tow haul mode with the boat hooked up. It really helps slow down the load when breaking, hardly need to use the breaks.

Scott if you want to get out maybe make a trip some where for a day on the weekend,..maybe Waska I could meet you up your way and you could drive my truck out to the lake from there. Otherwise I have a few Fridays and Mondays off coming up too. Shawn and I are planning to fish some where next Friday before the mystery event, we want to get into some smallies some where before we head to Clueless’s.

Dark Green Metallic,..still want to add SS rocker panels to the sides yet.

Just put on the new window perf last night (picture added above).

My brother custom designs these window perfs, if anyone is in the market send me a PM and I can put you in contact with him.

I’ve got a 2004.5 Chev Duramax/Ally. Only had it since 5/1, and about 6500 miles on it now. I get 20ish on the freeway unloaded, about 15-16 with a 1700 Pro sport 115 Johnson, really depends on speed though. If you want to cruise much beyond 70 you’ll really start to see a drop in mileage. Optimum speed & MPG combo is at 1800 RPMs. Also winds matter too, these trucks sit higher and wind resistance makes a huge difference.

In general Chev has always been a touch better in the MPG mark, but a lot of things to compare; speed, load, wind, rear end gear ratio, etc etc.

I’m really happy with my new Crew Cab, that was the main reason I went with the diesel since I wasn’t going backwards in the MPG area by buying a 6.0L gas!

    Here is a pic!

Eyes were tough, but didn’t spend much time fishing them as the PWT pounded the waters before we were there. Perch can be found in the shallows right now as can most of the species. Spend some time looking for some crappies is shallow water spots, many 12-13″ fish were caught this past weekend. Jig and crappie minnow are the ticket.

    Good luck!

How did you do and where did you stay? I’ll be heading to Long Point on Thursday for the weekend. We will have sleds to roam around with and avoid getting stuck that way.

Sounds like things could turn on if the weather stays decent through the weekend!!

John, this may be easier then you think. Most new trucks that already don’t have a flat-4 or round 7-pin, have a connector up underneath the bumper some where. You can buy a kit from a place like Mills or any auto parts store and just plug it in and mount it to your bumper somewhere.

I would check and see what you have under the bumper, I am betting this is an easy one.
