Pretty close to mine. I’m planning to re-do mine this year and will do something similar to what you did here. Thanks for the post!

loading my trailer and truck to head out is always exciting. But unloading and putting everything away when I’m tired, wet and cold…that’s annoying.
October 31, 2021 at 2:06 am #2071081It’s that time of year again. I think I’m going to modify my shuttle this year to make it smaller and lighter.
January 29, 2021 at 11:20 am #2010375One more time…

January 29, 2021 at 11:18 am #2010373I may have gone a little overboard…
I laughed my butt off when I read this!! LOL
Looks great. Really nice work. And I love that it fits in a bucket. So easy and convenient, keeps it protected. Atta boy!January 6, 2021 at 9:02 am #2003601One more time…

November 25, 2020 at 10:50 pm #1991576It’s that time of year again! Let’s see those DIY Helix Shuttles! I see this question a lot on Facebook and other places, so share the knowledge and share the link to this thread. Your buddies will appreciate it!
December 30, 2019 at 7:36 am #1901588Thank you for inspiration and great ideas!
Nice shuttle! Glad this was a helpful thread for you. Looks like a nice efficient layout you got there!
July 16, 2019 at 12:39 pm #1867826Glad this has been useful for everyone! Hope to see some more shuttles this year!!
January 3, 2019 at 11:33 am #1822765I was having an issue with mine yesterday with multiple SLA batteries.
Batteries are reading over 11.5V, but the battery percentage was reading like 8%.December 18, 2018 at 12:17 pm #1818750the sled is the wild medium sled…which I found out from the manufacturer and multiple retailers this month is no longer available. The replacement is the otter pro medium.
December 12, 2018 at 12:12 pm #1817172so much darkness in winter…so much turbid water in Minnesota.
IMHO camera is only useful for clear lakes – daytime bite…I wouldn’t use it much myself. Or to keep the kids or myself mildly entertained. lol
December 12, 2018 at 12:07 pm #1817170use a good RAM mount and you should be okay…
What kind of vibrations are you talking about? Unless you’re driving like a crazy man, the vibrations shouldn’t be any more than you might get hauling it in the truck or towing in sled behind atv. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
December 12, 2018 at 11:55 am #1817166I do exactly what most of the above posts suggest: led light strip permanently attached to the overhead poles with a wire that follows the poles down to the ice where I hookup to my powerbox that has a dimmer installed.
December 6, 2018 at 11:31 am #1815512can also use put into standby mode, which I’m pretty keeps everything (maybe not everything?) running in the background but turns off the screen
December 5, 2018 at 2:43 pm #1815284did you take the time to learn how to use it before going on the ice?
Reset to factory defaults
go to settings and change to advanced mode
disable the views you dont wish to see
turn on ice mode if it is a g2, turn off if it is a g1
fish in normal chart view, its better than the circular flasher anywayAgreed.
December 5, 2018 at 2:40 pm #1815282I started a lengthy thread on IDO of guys who built their own shuttles. I thinks . The thread is on page two. Guys are making em so they do in a bucket even the helix 7.
You can also google “in depth outdoors lets see you diy helix shuttle”December 5, 2018 at 12:32 am #1815157Sorry for the long wordy response, I just have a soft spot for people in your shoes because that was me not long ago. It’s daunting with all the stuff out there…
Not too wordy at all! This was a really great, encouraging and thoughtful response and exactly why the forums exist. Kudos brother, may God Bless you with more wonderful fishing memories than you may deserve!
December 2, 2018 at 9:48 pm #1814548here is my prototype! don’t have the transducer yet, ordered it from hodges yesterday. left plenty of room up front for it, and possibly a rod holder! it is light and fits in a 5 gal bucket. rotate helix 7 upward and should be able to wrap extra cord up around the uprights. didn’t have to buy a mount for it the 1/4″ plywood is thin enough to run the thumb screws in. bungee cord should hold the battery in.
Nice one Perry!
November 30, 2018 at 5:48 pm #1813940Here is mine, still have some fine tuning to do. It fits in a five gallon pail. Need to add transducer cup, hooks to wrap transducer cable, trim power cord and add second Ram ball for my iPad for my Pancam. Not sure it was worth it. Someone had a soft pack on line for sale for $90 bucks. Oh well, I do have enough material to make a couple more. It is made from PVC plastic, so it will never rot.
Hey captain, super clean build and awesome that it fits in the pail. If thats pvc you must have done it woth a 3d printer?
November 28, 2018 at 11:03 pm #1813478anyone know of any places a little closer to the zimmerman/elk river area?
November 28, 2018 at 10:18 pm #1813460Hey guys,
I’ve recently purchased the Helix 7 Ice CHIRP G2 unit and its awesome. I am just having trouble with the mapping and GPS aspect of things. I have the FishSmart app which has a lake on there that I would like to purchase, how would I transfer it to my unit. Also, do these units come preloaded with the basemaps? Any additional info would be awesome as I am new to the Humminbird systems.
Thanks
Josh I sent you a pm.

Has anyone used an m18 Milwaukee battery to power their unit? You can modify the power source adapters and hard wire a power cord to run off the full battery voltage. Generic $14 adapters are available on Ebay that will work.
seems like a lot of work and expense when a brand new battery will run you about $20 bucks.
