Yup, just big, oily cans. I’ll keep ’em all outta that cold water.

I had to log in again on my laptop this morning. Figured it was just me.

The season dates moved up for the northern areas, we were getting maybe 5 weekends in before ice up previously. Say what you will but I like it, gave me more weekends to get out.

The berkley big game rods work well so I’d imagine that catfish rods will too.

I’ve been slowly working my way into the big water, braid dipseys and 2,4,6 color lead for Superior is what I’m running now. Don’t quite have the time or the confidence to go over to LM, yet.

Jealous! I need to get over there and do it, been threatening for years. Do you do an airbnb or camp? What rod spread do you typically run?

I use 5 gal buckets with a 4″ hole cut on the bottom clipped onto the tie downs on the transom. Works well to get my boat (’00 17′ Pro V w/ 125 Merc) down to 2.3-3.2 MPH for salmon and trout on Superior without running too high of RPM.

I was out yesterday 8-1pm. Could not keep them pinned, 1-7. Tough go of it. Duluth side was slow from what I heard.

How are we all still feeling 2 months in? Coaching two teams for me is gonna be a grind by February.

My buddy has the higdon pulsars. We don’t use them much but when it’s flat calm they seem to work fine. That being said, a jerk rig or two would be just as effective.

I’ve had good luck with Okuma Convectors (~$110) and Coldwaters (~$130).

Slow spring for us, but seems that a few guys are catching some. As usual, stick baits in shallow have been the word on the street.

Through the lens of “right now” yeah $5/gal diesel sucks, but, the government is subsidizing gasoline right now so we aren’t seeing the true cost anyway.
I love the motor, it has plenty of power and fits my needs well. Your opinions and mileage may vary.

I have a 2022 Sierra with the 3.0 Diesel in it (14k mi). I love it. I get 27-30 on the hwy not towing. The efficiency dips under load though, pulling my 17′ pro-v I average 19-20 MPG, pulling a 7’x14′ steel enclosed decoy trailer to ND my average was 15 MPG.

I had a good opener, same nonsense with sky busters as every year but shot a two-man limit of ducks, mostly BWT and wood ducks, and 4 geese.

Thanks for the replies. Plugs are new and it’s oil injected so mix shouldn’t be an issue. I checked the lower unit oil level and it’s fine.
The only place that it’s leaking out is above the lower unit at the drain point.

Head o’ lakes is good to go, but parking is interesting/limited.

My 3.0L Duramax gets 2-3 mpg more when the temps are warmer, probably a myriad of factors that contribute though.

This is what I made for trolling spoons and bigger trolling plugs. I used an ammo can I had left over.

Looking like it’s going to be a while before it frees up. Saturday is calling for a low of 3°F.

I only saw one doe for the weekend in zone 178 and I did not hear many shots. I would estimate less than 50 shots for the weekend.

If I ever get into this price range for a boat, this is the one. The only thing I don’t care for is the cooler / bench seats because I don’t think my kids will be able to ride like that.

I found some series 148 which is rated for below the waterline connections online sold by the foot. There are a lot of options out there for hose but they aren’t rated for below the water line connections. Considering the amount of work it was to get the livewell out, I didn’t want to skimp. Now on to replacing the leaking rivets!

    Thanks.

Oh and here is the link for those looking in the future:
