My 2014 Reata came with Vault hubs, not oil bath. Yours likely are as well.

Vault hubs are similar to oil bath but they use a hybrid grease that liquefies when they warm up so acts like oil when towing. Unlike oil bath hubs there is no way to change the oil/grease without taking them apart.

Mine are still all original and have not had any issues. But I’ll probably redo them next spring because it seems like it’s time.

Have any of you had to use your floor jack while not on a paved surface? Years ago I remember my father trying to use one a gravel should and he said the boat axle kept slipping off the jack because a floor jack needs to be able to roll towards the lifting point as it goes up. If the jack can’t roll the lift point rotates and can slip out from under the axle. He quit carrying a floor jack after that.

I didn’t witness it but that’s what he told me.

A bottle jack or scissor jack goes straight up but a floor jack goes up in an arc if it can’t roll across the floor.

It’s the design. You get better at avoiding it over time but it can still happen. The boat is a bit nose heavy with the windshield a little more forward and trolling batteries up front.

I mounted a G4 Mega SI transducer reusing the holes from a 998 SI transducer. So I’d suspect reusing the holes in your case would work as well.

We have an indigo bunting hanging around today eating cracked sunflower. First time we’ve seen one.

I’ve liked this Rymar sealer better than Thompson. But I haven’t used anything else for 25 years so my comparison might be out of date as maybe Thompson’s is different now.

I see a report on hummingbirdcentral of a sighting in Des Moines on 4/8.

Had lunch there twice in August but it was on a weekday and quiet. Seemed pretty much the same as it has been. We didn’t notice the owner.
On our second visit we had first stopped at Slippery’s first but my wife is immunocompromised and needs to dine outdoors. They wouldn’t serve anyone outside that day, probably a staffing issue, so we ended up at the pickle again. Hard to beat the view from their deck.

I don’t believe there are any dedicated car parking spots at Izaak Walton.

I wasn’t going to reply because I don’t consider myself an expert and I haven’t drank much rum the last ten years. But currently I am slowly working through a bottle of Mount Gay that is a good mixer. I also have a bottle of 25 year old Appleton’s that’s a good sipper. I’ve had it for 15 years I bet.

Years ago I enjoyed a couple bottles of Cockspur. As I recall it had almost bourbon like qualities to it. Sort of a cross between the two. I should revisit that one.

Rum has such a wide variation.

I haven’t followed Lunds models in a few years. Is the Adventure supposed to be a more economical boat under the Impact? If so, that’s a great move by them to get boats at a better price point for a lot of people.

I believe so. It’s also about a foot narrower so it fits in tight garages easier.

Dave (or anyone else), my son picked up his 1775 Adventure earlier this week. He’s only been out twice but he said he’s having trouble getting it to center on the trailer. And from what he said if it’s an inch off center the boat basically ends up touching one of the trailer fenders.

He’s launched at Owasso and Johanna and he’s tried backing in shallow and deep. He doesn’t have guide on posts so maybe that would help. He’s used to my fiberglass boat which usually centers nicely.

Any suggestions on what is working for you?

Just for background dielectric grease isn’t really meant to be a cleaner. It’s a non-conductive grease that can be used to coat contacts to prevent moisture from causing corrosion.
A contact cleaner spray will flush out gunk on a connector and of course if contacts are corroded bad enough they’d need sanding or replacing.

Very nice! My son has the same boat and motor on order with expected delivery in mid June. Needless to say he’s very excited.

Is that a 12 inch graph? My son is planning on 10 inch graphs.

I might try removing the plugs and see if it will turn without compression.

    Which site did you get?

    Hi Chris,

I’ll be on Williams island north from may 24th-28th. Also booked a trip for late August on lost boy island

We were on Williams Island South last summer and I got fair Verizon reception in camp. Walk down the bank to the boat and I’d lose it.

It’s a drive from where you are but we got out on Lake Zumbro just North of Rochester on Saturday. Some ice in bays but that’s probably gone by now.

We stayed at Skipjack Resort in Marathon a few years ago. It’s not so much a resort as a place with good sized suite rooms with kitchenettes. It suited our needs very well.

We enjoyed eating at Keys Fisheries in Marathon. Fun dockside dining.

    I have 2015 3.5 eco.
I’ve noticed a rattle when moving at low speeds. Sounds like it’s coming from the exhaust. Was thinking it was a loose heat guard or something.

    Is that the Phaser?

I don’t know what a bad phaser sounds like but I had an exhaust shield rattle on my 2013. Easy fix to replace a rusted off hose clamp that was holding down one end of a heat shield.

The chances of having a quality non-conference opponent on the schedule greatly decreased when the Big 10 went from eight to nine conference games a few years ago.

Thanks for the reports! We will be camping on Namakan starting Saturday. Did you pull spinners or just straight lindy rig? We seem to favor spinners but then again some days we don’t catch much!

Great stories. My best memories are rooted in good times on the water with people that aren’t here anymore or are no longer able to get out. To go back and relive some of those times knowing what I know now would be beyond priceless.

Oh and the smell of grandpa’s tackle box. He passed away before I ever knew him so my only tangible, physical connection to him was that tackle box.

I have heard it’s very common for cheap 12v plug USB adapters to cause large amounts of radio frequency interference. They will even interfere with the signal from your car tire’s TPMS causing false warnings lights on your dashboard.

Maybe try a different USB adapter if you can or consider charging your remote from a portable battery pack. Perhaps a decent permanently mounted USB outlet would be better behaved but I’d want to test it out before installing it.

Fuses and ordinary circuit breakers do not protect electronics from surges. They prevent your wiring from melting or catching fire if you get a short circuit.
