Size wise this has been the most productive year I’ve ever had on the system. Hopefully they show up in the rivers in the fall. Yes. They are all still swimming. Always remember that the best fisherman are unfortunately the best liars

About time to head back out. Gave myself a break from the system due to the stinky water and even stinkier Illinois people. Last time I was out I spent most of my time just watching boat launch fails and would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy it. River has been SLOW for me. Kelly is correct with the shallow shads my depths varied though. Hopefully boat traffic starts slowing down and the river bite picks up. Lake Michigan trolling has been fun but I miss my Gravel Lizards.
Finally found some fish not over 21″ that I could bring back for the fry pan…no luck in the river so far…assuming that warm weather makes the river a bust. Had to really turn up the speed on the trolling to get into some decent fish…picking through shorts and when it wasn’t a short it was 24 plus…happy to say I have fish in my freezer again

Kelly…heading out tomorrow after work and then Saturday morning. Let me know. I know you said you were thinking about heading out this weekend. Ill call ya tomorrow but figured I’d throw this up. Got out tonight for about 1 1/2 hrs tonight before the front moved in…I caught 3 shorts over by the pile. Wide wobblers again.
Made it out today for a few hours. Bite seems a bit rough as I only caught 1 short today. It is my first year on the river and have not managed one over 15. Water temps are around 46-47. Lots of boats were out and did not see much action from anyone.
