It only took me 5 years to find a spot like this. Had I paid attention to my Lakemaster Map and my Walleye Wisdom Book, it would have only taken 5 minutes to find this spot. The spot even held up to the usual kiss of death. I took my Dad out to it. He’s usually a day late and a dollar short, but even he caught a 20 incher the other night.

I fished Tonka with my son last night. The eyes were biting really well. We caught 15. Lost a 45-50 inch muskie. She hit my spoon just under the ice as I was bringing it up to give ti a charge. I almost had her in the hole green as she didn’t know she was hooked. After getting tangled in the other line and around the transducer, it broke me off. Here are five 14-19 inchers we kept. Released two over twenty inches. 14 jigging/one on the set line. By far our most exciting evening of the year. 1/8 ounce perch spoons in 34ft.

I almost tried cortizone shots for a herniated disc in my neck, but instead kept up the exercises and picked up an inversion table. I haven’t had any major issues since I started hanging upside down for a couple minutes per day. I’d say the shots are worth a try. I’m guessing if therapy doesn’t work, your only other option is to endure the pain or surgery.

It was nice to meet a few guys on Saturday. I got one dink right at sunset.

I love bringing my dog out. My biggest worry isn’t my dog, it’s the people that drive way too fast on the ice. If your driving too fast to be able to stop for a dog, what would you do if you ran over a kid. A dog should be trained if you bring them along, but don’t get your undies in a bunch if a puppy comes up to say hi. I don’t know anyone with four dogs, so it sounds like a unique situation.

I’ve been catching some eyes on Tonka in deep water 30-40 ft. All kinds of sizes from 13-22 inch fish. Nothing too hot, but between 3-6 fish per evening.

I’m pretty sure that my schedule is open on Saturday. I’ve been doing pretty well on Tonka, but a change of scenery would be nice.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I think Calhoun is the best in town. Tonka has fish, but the city lakes don’t have nearly as much pressure. The fact that Calhoun doesn’t allow gas motors and isn’t Lakemastered also helps.
