The only way to fix the problem permanently is to Seal the exterior of the foundation and installing a draintile and sump system.

Running a dehumidifier is very important to reduce the humidity level in the basement. Buy a dehumidifier with an internal pump and hose. This type you can run the hose to a floor drain or sink drain and it will run continuously and drain its self.

If this is an old home where the basement is used for storage only, you can do a few things to prevent mold growth. First dispose of anything that you don’t want any longer. Throw away cardboard boxes, and organize. If you are determined to store things in the basement use plastic shelving and plastic storage totes that seal. Then you can use soap and water and wash everything in the basement. This will prevent the mold issue. You want to keep the basement as dry as possible, clean as possible, and remove surfaces that mold could grow on. (such as cardboard boxes, etc.) The key to prevent mold growth is Dry and Clean.

I just purchased a pair of Baffins and used them on Saturday. My previous boots were Rocky’s which I thought were warm. Night and day difference, the Baffins were much warmer! My feet did not sweat in these boots, they kept my feet warm and I was surprised at how warm they kept my legs too as they do come up higher on your legs.

I have a pair of Baffin Icebreakers on order, to arrive Tuesday. I ordered them Friday morning, retail was $200, Amazon sale put them at $97. I can’t wait for them to arrive and give them a try.

I have an Otter with the green canvas, used the reflectix to insulate it. It is super simple. Undo the Velcro around the poles that holds the canvas in place and then slip the reflectix between the poles and canvas. Cut a small slit in the reflectix to feed the Velcro back through. That is pretty much it. In mine I have it running from the back at the tub up and over down to the front pole hoop. I used some tape to hold it to the pole. Its been in my house now for 3 seasons and hasn’t moved a bit, still folds up with no problem. Makes a world of difference in the older uninsulated houses. No more frost and condensation either. The single layer of bubbles is plenty.

I think your statement that Mille Lacs on its worst day is still better then a normal lake on its best day, puts things in perspective. Maybe it isn’t what it was, but it is still better than any MN prairie pothole lake.

I want to get my 3 girls on the water more this year. Years past they are at +- 12 days. Would like that number higher.

My 11 year old caught her first walleye this summer at 18 inches. She still talks about it with a huge smile.

My oldest is 16, I want her to fillet her own fish this year. Wish me luck!

My dad took the week off and spent 7 days on Big Stone. The guys at Artie’s kept him on the fish. He has nothing but great things to say about them.

He kept texting me photos this week. I am really looking forward to heading up there next Saturday.

I took my youngest out today and had the auger running for about an hour. Wide open throtle runs much better after the carb kit. Still won’t idle at all.

I will need to pick up the D socket and make the adjustment to the low speed idle.

So long as it keeps starting and running wide open, I will limp it through till November next year. Then I will bring it in for a proper service.

Thank you all for the advice. I knew there had to be a socket that fit those adjustment screws.

Hand held GPS are convenient, but the screen size is way too small. I have been using a Lowrance H20 for years and squinting the whole time.

I would recommend spending the money on a sonar/GPS unit and set it up in a blue box type system. I would use it as GPS only so you can get the bigger screen view. Something like the Humminbrd 500 series so you have a 5 inch screen makes life a lot easier. Buy off an auction site and not much more money invested than you would on a handheld with a 2 inch screen.

Glad to hear you are up and running again.

Last year my Solo quit on me. I disected the carburator on my work bench and sprayed out all the openings with carb cleaner. Runs like brand new. Damn them ports are tiny in the Solo carb.

I use the Buckshot and th Forage Minnow spoon. The Forage Minnow works lights out when the rattle in the Bucksot is too agressive. Super Glow Perch is my go to.

The ice fishing industry is still small enough where you have the chance to talk to all the guys behind the scenes at each of the companies. So great to talk to the rod builders, the lure R&D guys, etc. Had a great time talking to the 13 fishing guys last year. Best part of the show in my opinion and it comes with price of admission.

I’m still a sucker for hand painted jigs every year.

Headed to pool 4 tomorrow, my birthday gift of fishing from the wife. Hope the walleye cooperate with me. Going to try casting plastics and cranks. May bring some nightcrawlers too. If that doesn’t work, will proceed to throw the whole taklebox in the river. Wish me luck!

I have heard good things about american track truck. Requires no modifications to your vehicle, just bolt onto the hubs of your vehicle. I saw a guy on here has an S-10 Blazer with these on Leach Lake. He picked up his rig last winter.

Looks great, sure beats pulling the whole house out by hand accross the lake. This walking business is getting old, wish it would get cold again and make some ice.
