Small ones are starting to break up. Bigger ones looking sad but not close. I did see some ponds open though might have to get the minnow traps ready. Oh the little lake at the airport in town is open.

I think I have it fixed. I believe the fuel line was air locked. I unhooked it from the motor and held the valve open while squeezing the bulb until I could feel the fuel flowing into the bulb and out the end. Thanks
January 3, 2025 at 3:47 pm #2308481Mine has hung on the wall in my Garage for at 5-6 years now. I should pull it down and see if it will even start. My guess is it will not. Should just get rid of it. I looked at selling it a few years ago and there were a ton of them for sale for almost nothing.
That’s exactly why I thought about looking for one, they are very reasonably priced now.
January 3, 2025 at 3:19 pm #2308470I was out fishing the other day and I heard a gasser ripping, brought a smile to my face. I thought about bringing mine out every once in a while just for fun.

May 22, 2023 at 8:13 pm #2204275In this scoop was one of the mystery minnows in the middle with what I would call creek chubs around it. They are much larger and have been biting the heads of of the smaller other species. I have some that are around seven inches or so and very strong.
May 22, 2023 at 7:44 pm #2204265Well I was was told they were red tails but whatever they are they are going to catch fish or die trying! Thanks for the replies.
May 22, 2023 at 9:09 am #2204077May 22, 2023 at 5:23 am #2204036Thanks, I’ll give them a shot. Probably be trying out before July, I’m thinking this weekend. Maybe I’ll sort out some smaller ones and treat them like a shiner.
May 20, 2023 at 10:04 pm #2203882Got on a good patch around Grand Rapids today. We’re going to go tomorrow and then time to start fishing more.
May 8, 2023 at 8:07 pm #2201431Does anyone know where the trappers get golden shiners? Are they a river shiner?
Bens bait in Battle Lake has always had those.
When I spoke to them earlier they thought they would have sone goldens by opener.
I have used those in the past. Couldn’t tell if the fish cared or not. Caught fish on them. Most golden shiners are from ponds or very shallow small lakes. I’ve got two ponds with goldens in them but for every ten shiners there are a hundred other minnows I don’t want.
I’ve just started some trapping and have a good supply of rainbows for myself until other species start moving in.March 12, 2023 at 11:56 am #2188015Six to eight inches so far in Grand Rapids. The snow can melt any time now.
February 26, 2023 at 5:49 pm #2184591Not sure if this works but I have a video of inside my tank . I’ve never been able to get a video to post though.
February 26, 2023 at 5:38 pm #2184588Are you using any clorine neutralizer? I live in city so need to dechlorinate my water. keep shiners for weeks you can get dechlorinator at any pet store and sometimes wal mart
Webbs water garden online is where I order my supplies. Pumps and chemicals and whatever you need.
February 26, 2023 at 5:24 pm #2184582Keeping a bait tank is a lot of work. You need clean cold water, city tap water won’t work. Most minnows from a bait store are already infected with disease. I trap minnows in the spring and they do good in a 100 gallon stock tank with a 500 gallon an hour pump pushing water through a bio filter. The minute I think I can put some minnows from a bait store in my tank it’s all over, fungus and disease spreads quickly. I would just do what others say and keep them in a bucket in the fridge and change water frequently.
February 17, 2023 at 7:15 pm #2182590Leftover baked potatoes out of the fridge The next day or two. I Run them over a cheese grater and fry.
February 15, 2023 at 9:40 pm #2182162Think my friend’s neighbor can let us access at 190th but from there we walk, my friend is in his 70s so we re not walking far! Looks tullish to me. Any spots stand out?
February 15, 2023 at 9:37 pm #2182159I have three brute 10amp hour lithium batteries from LxM, couldn’t be happier with them. They are the only ones I’ve tried, and they come with a charger. I can’t speak bad of any of the other brand’s having not tried them.
February 12, 2023 at 6:26 pm #2181237Gino do you brine them? If so what do you use?
Yes, I use Jeff Sundins recipe, dry brine 50:50 salt and brown sugar. For these fillets I brined them for three hours and a quick rinse. Hour and and a half at 180 brushed them with maple syrup and another half hour at 220.
February 7, 2023 at 5:39 pm #2179788I’ve had good luck catching them anytime between now and ice out. I’m going out on Saturday to get a pail of them for the smoker. I’ve had good luck with small white jigging rapalas.
