    JP,

Chris has a very special net that we used last year for your 45’er that he’ll need to call back into service from retirement.

Back home now in the Chicago work-a-day world.

What can I say!!!??? “The seas were angry that day my friends”….George Castanza

Chris, thankfully, was able to shift gears and make our half day guide trip a resounding success!

Here are some of my take-aways…

    Guides:

In particular, Chris Granrud, WILL make the difference between a so-so fishing excursion and one for the books. We would have NEVER had the success that we did that day if it was not for Chris! In hindsight, we should have scheduled Chris for earlier in our trip. When we booked Chris, he only had one half day spot open and was only on the first half of a 45+ day consecutive day guide string

    Equipment:

Chris’s NRX rods married up with Shimano Stradic CI4 reels strung with braided line and MaxRaps tied directly to the line made all the difference in the world!

    Presentation and Technique:

Even with top of the line equipment, without the proper presentation and technique, again, we would have only chipped away at these fish. Chris patiently showed us the techniques to get the bait in strike zone and how to present it in a fashion to trigger strikes….A LOT OF STRIKES! One has to see the technique in action and go through the teething and learning curve to get it dialed in correctly. Chris took his time and coached us through numerous casts and retrieves to ensure we weren’t missing strikes or at least wouldn’t miss a strike…we only missed a couple after getting dialed in. THANKS SENSEI!!!!!

    Proof:

When we started fishing, Chris jumped out in front 8-0 before arming us with the proper equipment and showing us the proper presentation technique. We quickly closed the gap after that.
