Based on its specs and design, it’s very similar to an AntKing BSA2/3 reel(2nd or 3rd generation), except for the handle.

    Planning to buy one. I’m 5’10” and 155. Should I get a M or L?

A couple years ago, I did that using a scanner that came with a plastic bracket to hold films and slides.

One of the sellers told me that the li-ion batteries work at -4 fahrenheit or higer. Not sure if it’s true.

I totally agree with James. Some of these li-ion batteries only have about 50% of their claimed amps.

I do like the Li-ion Battery. It’s much lighter than the 9ah gel cell battery on my lx-5, which is around 5 lbs.
I bought it from an Ebay equivalent website in China. The thing with li-ion batteries in China is that 90% of batteries don’t have their claimed capacity. Some only have about 50% of marked capacity. I have to spend hours on the Internet, chatting with the sellers to get the one that has at least 90% of their claimed capacity.
BTW, those li-ion batteries on Ebay are also made in China, Most of them have the same capacity issue.

If you have a li-ion battery and want to use it on your flasher. I strongly suggest you test it at home before you head out on the ice. Without testing it first, You won’t know if the actual AH number of the battery matches the number on its label.

Thanks. Your picture shows that Lx-7 will read a battery that’s 9V or higer, that’s definitely good news for me.

    Search “pflueger Patriach” on Ebay.
I just bought a new Pflueger Patriach on Ebay for about $140 with free shipping.
The seller’s Ebay ID is “unitedoutdoors” or somehting like that. I think he still have a few of them available.

Since you mentioned that, I decided to go for a 12V/13.6AMP li-ion battery pack which has no hard shell. It will cost me about $45.
Quite a few of the 12V li-ion battery manfacturers in China really exaggerate the capacities(especially AMPs) of their batteries, up to 50% higher than their actual capacities.
Sometimes you can tell this by looking at the dimensions of their batteries.
Hopefully the 12V/13.6AMP battery I am buying will have at least 9AMP on it.

You are right about the cost about the li-ion battey. High quality Li-ion batteries of the same capacity could cost much more than gel cell batteries. That’s why I am going to buy one primitive looking 12V/9+AMP li-ion battery to see how it performs. This battery pack doesn’t have a hard shell, it’s wrapped in plastics. Like This battery on ebay
If it arrives, it’ll cost me about $36.
If it works well, I’ll try to get a quality one with hard shell. A good 12V/13.6AMP battery with battery status indicator built in might cost around $75. I guess this might be the kind of battery that Marcum checked out.

How about replace the battery with a li-ion battery pack? A 12V 9.8AH li-ion battery pack only weighs about 1.5 lbs, and is much smaller. Not sure if it will work when it’s very cold(-4F or lower, it suppose to work when temperature is above -4F). Aqua-Vu micro is using a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with a battery life up to five hours. I am going to try one 12V li-ion pack on my Lx-5. The problem with these battery pack is that I can only find them on Ebay, and only a few Chinese sellers are selling them(those listed in Hong Kong are actually Chinese Sellers). And some Chinese manufacturers tend to exaggerate the AH of their batteries. Plus li-ion battery cannot be shipped by air. It might take one to two months for the battery to arrive.

That’s a very good idea. The display of Marcum LX-7 should have enough room for split screens. Maybe Marcum Engineers can add a port to it for the second tranducer? Better yet, with the LCD the same as that of 825SD, if they can make the 825sd camera head an option for the LX-7, and some GPS mapping. It’ll be my ultimate ice fishing machine. Maybe I am too greedy?

I had similar experience about 2 weeks ago, tried almost everything. Finally got the cable company technician into my house, he spent almost one hour, couldn’t figure out the problem. He even tried three new cable modems, what he forgot to do was to use the power supply(AC Adapter) that came with those new modems. Eventually, he tried that, and everything worked perfectly. So my problem was the unstable power supply to the modem. Not sure if the modem or its power supply could be the cause of your problem.

I just got two Ryrobi fly reel directly from China, cost me about $110 each, shipping included. Weighs 129g on my scale.
They are smaller than I thought, with an OD about 3″, and the spool has a diameter of 2″. Hence, with a 2.3:1 gear ratio, each turn of handle will retrieve about 14.5″ line.
It can be switched from right hand reel to left hand reel, and vice versa. The switching requires reverse the one-way bearing inside. However, the instruction manual is in Japanese and Chinese.

I just found another reel that looks like a fly reel. The website calls it spinning reel, but it’s more like a fly reel to me. Claims to have a 3.2:1 gear ratio. Based on its line capacity, it seems like a very small reel. Here is the link.

I only found about a dozen online sellers in China that carry them(Ryobi Brand), priced between $100–$110. I checked with a guy who is willing to ship them to the US, it’ll cost about $12 to ship one reel.
Here is the link to one of the seller. Ryobi Fly Reel
It’s in Chinese, the orange number is the price in Chinese Currency, divide it by 6.3 and you’ll get the $ amount.
BTW, Ryobi sold its fishing business(and the Ryobi fishing gear brand) to Johshuya a few years ago. This Ryobi reel is not made by Ryobi, it’s made in China by a joint venture between Johshua of Japan and the largest fishing gear manufacturer in China.

I saw it when I visited China in Sept.,cost about $100.00. It’s made of aluminum alloy, not sure if it will cause any problem when it’s very very cold. Here are some pictures of it:

I also found a high end Japanese reel(kurodaikobo brand) that can be used as a fly reel, with a 1.9:1 gear ratio, cost about $400.

    James,
I am thinking about getting a RYOBI fly reel. It has a 2.3:1 gear ratio, weighs about 4 ozs. Would it be too heavy for ice fishing?

If both you and the buyer have Paypal Premier Accounts,
he can pay via Paypal Mass Pay, you don’t need to pay the normal paypal fee. And he only pays $1 transaction fee. Not sure if you need to pay the currency exchange fee.

BestBuy has the new Lowrance Endura Safari for $249.99 and the Endura Out&Back for $199.99. These are supposed to be H2O replacements.

If you really want to help him.
At least ask him to send his request via Email, the more detail about the snow blower in the email , the better.

You maybe right, some of these jigs that look like diamond jigs could be Scandia Tungsten Jigs from Stopper Lures.

What about those tungsten jigs that look like gill pills? I couldn’t find them on the website of K&E/Stopper Lures.
