I just completed the installation of this. I bought my kit from Northland marine in Three Lakes Wi. It was $700, a hefty increase from the legacy upgrade kit that was 400-450. But it requires more parts to convert to bluetooth so price increase was expected. Plus its still a TON less than buying a new bluetooth terrova that are out of stock all over.

It turns out its basically the bluetooth head and matching lower cowling, bluetooth control board and new matching cover, and GPS puck. Unfortunately there is no real full set of instructions, it comes with the instructions for installing the head as if it was a bluetooth unit from the factory. So far so good on the install, haven’t had it on the water yet to test the spot-lock feature but the unit powers up and all features work from the remote.

Cant wait to get it out on the water this week.

LOL, well where I saw them, they could have been heading anywhere in the state still. That Brandl truck sure caught my eye, then again not many boats being pulled around this time of year either. Cant wait to see where it turned out to be headed.

Awesome show! Never fished lakers before, I hope to get into one through the ice in the next few years. Saw you guys on the road yesterday on our way back from Wi gun Opener, looking forward to seeing what adventure you were on in a future episode!

I will be buying one as soon as I can find it in stock. 50 holes a day is a lot for me usually. If I expect a ton more holes than that, I will bring my gas auger. Also Fishusa shows the spare battery for only $50 Compared to $200 for a 40v spare battery. I will likely buy the auger and a spare battery and be set for still less cost than the 40v, weighs less, and still be able to do 100 holes a day if I ever felt the need.

I know you want to use the flipover you have, but if you are set on not using a trailer, you should maybe pickup a hub style shanty and use that as shelter the few times that you will bring out a shack.
Much easier to transport than the flip over.

Stayed up there late ice last winter, great place and nice cabins. They will try their best to point you in the right direction for staying on top of the fish. I will be back this winter for sure.

Nodak lodge is great! I have had a blast when I have gone up there, winter cabins were really nice and the road out was well maintained, heading up late September for perch too!

Awesome responses, I had no idea that the foot pedal on the Powerdrive becomes inoperable once ipilot is installed. I saw that all preinstalled ipilot models do NOT come with a pedal, sure makes sense why on the PD. It might be nice to have that option in case the remote dies or something happens to it. Also didn’t know that the Bluetooth models can use an app to control it in case the remote dies.

Budget isn’t set in stone yet, mainly because I cant decide on fish finder model either. I had a 898si in my last boat and sold it with it. Cant decide if I want to spend the extra $ for helix9 without SI , or smaller screen with si, or go all in on Helix 8 with SI, but that may dig into the trolling motor budget.

Instead of atv wheels on the trailer/sled, mount snowmobile skis. The steering carbide runner should help with tracking as well as pull easier than putting studs in sled runners. Skis will also work well when you do encounter areas that does have snow. Just what I would do.

USB port on a the flasher, that sits on the ice, next to the hole…. cant see what could go wrong with that.

Plug in the phone, set the hook, go to pull the ducer line out and PLOP! No thanks, Ill keep my usb plug in devices in my jacket/ shelter with my normal battery pack.

And $250 bucks? that’s crazy! If I have an extra $250 bucks its going towards a lot more than a battery pack. You can buy a new auger or camera or a couple of really nice rod setups which are a much better investment in my opinion. Maybe if I had tons of extra money to spend, but I don’t…

To me its like the auger speed debate, a 5 second difference in my old auger to the new latest and greatest auger makes no sense to go buy the new one when the older model still works perfectly with very minimal gains.

Red89- I saw you were not impressed with the clam plate you had. If it is the style that you do not have to remove the chuck, I would buy it from you as I am looking to try a drill adaptor of some type this year.

trekr200, Yes that’s what I would like to buy, however that is from the 2016 catalog and I cant find it in stock anywhere, I know they had issues with the powdered metal gears last year, and now are offering machined gears in the gearbox. I’m hoping there wont be a price jump because of that change in gears. At the very least I wan to get the basic plate and use it on my 6′ Lazer hand auger.

This is my down time of the year so I wish the ice fishing gear would be available this time of year, as soon as hunting comes I am busy and once I fill the gun season tag, I try and icefish that second weekend of deer season. Its frustrating that most of the stores are not stocked until basically December!

I need my fix! doah applause

Anybody know if the Clam auger plate this year will be with or without the gear reduction gearbox? That will likely determine if I buy or not. The gearbox adapter last year cost as much as the whole plate!

I use 14# fireline clear and catch plenty of eyes and up to 30″ pike with no breaks. Like with all leaders, check for fraying after each fish and if any doubts, swap it out! Hate to lose a trophy on something you had your doubts on before putting resetting.

Composite means plastic that is filled or blended with another material. Likely its fiberglass filled Nylon. Obviously not as durable as steel but like everything you have to take care of it.

A pic would help, but I had to guess ,its probably an open contact now that the bearing is missing. Turning the switch usually would close the circuit and then ground out the engine and shut it off.
