The firefox workaround is under “Tools”->”Start Private Browsing” and follow the procedure described above. This resolved my issue; thanks for the help James!

You can get plenty of tasty meat off of the 7s and 8s (if that’s what you’re looking for). A good fishery needs the big boys; good to know there’s other people putting these fish back…

March 1, 2010 at 9:54 pm #847777I wasn’t planning on getting a functioning oven; it’s mainly for the shell with everything else stripped out. My friend has a similar setup with an old fridge. He has a hot plate wired with a dimmer switch, which works very well. We do a lot of cold smoking for our summer sausage, and we can hold the smoker at ~100. I thought I’d wire a hot plate into the bottom drawer and use a similar setup, but who knows how easy heat control will be…
March 1, 2010 at 5:59 pm #847655I’ve been fishing out of Twin Pines for years. Linda is definitely tops when it comes to customer service.
February 25, 2010 at 8:07 pm #846283Thanks Northstar. I’m thinking of applying. Although I haven’t received much hassle lately at the border, when you’ve got a weeks worth of gear and four guys crammed in a vehicle, it can take hours if they decide to search you. I think the $10 per year investment seems well worth it.
February 24, 2010 at 8:01 pm #845782Yeah, sorry to make that unclear. He is only a “felon” because DUI’s a felony in Canada; he has no other offenses.
As far as denying info Timmy, they asked me about accidents because they ran my plates and I had a fender bender (that he must have had on record). I told him I was in one and they waved me through. If I had denied it, that would raise suspicion and I would’ve likely got pulled in and searched. My experience is truthful, short answers have worked 99% of the time.
We cross in Pembina and by the sounds of it, I should tell my buddy to wait for now. If anyone knows more about the record rehabilitation (without waiting 5 years), it would be great to hear. Also, anyone have a NEXUS card? Is that more for international/airport travel? I’ve never seen a NEXUS station in Pembina, but it would be great to enter a “fast lane” for busy crossing hours. I’m guessing my buddy wouldn’t qualify for NEXUS anyway…just curious.
Thanks fellers!
February 24, 2010 at 4:09 pm #845670I have an underwater camera and a marcum. The camera is nice for identifying the species a sonar is seeing, but after fishing with and without the marcum, I find it hard to believe I caught fish without it. The flasher is much more important in my opinion and I use it 10x more than the camera. It allows you to jump from hole to hole and quickly analyze what may or may not be down each one. The only thing more important than the flasher is a strikemaster to get you through the ice and a line in the water…
February 24, 2010 at 4:01 pm #845660As others have said, the best way to learn something is to do it. The end of the ice season is a great time to get some practice in since melting ice/snow coupled with reawakened vegetation increase oxygen levels, and crappies will start to become easier to find. Each lake is different, but crappies start to stage shallower where they will likely be spawning. Get out as much as you can and see what you can learn. I’m fairly new to the crappie game as well so that’s my plan in the upcoming months. And don’t forget to stay safe on the late ice…
February 18, 2010 at 2:18 pm #843520Fished a mud flat in the middle of the lake last weekend. A buddy and I committed to it since we had the structure all to ourselves. Drilled ’til our arms got tired, but only managed to catch a handful of perch worth cleaning. They preferred a live fathead and a plain red hook over a diamond jig with waxies or a jigging spoon with a shiner head. Saw an ‘eye on camera in the distance, but it didn’t show any interest. Got most of the perch in ~34fow towards the bottom of a drop off.
