Brian, it is actually a tube, can be worn many different ways, depending on how much coverage you want – just neck, up over chin, or up over the back of your head and under your cap/hat.
yes, up here in the North Country, they are somewhat of an “oddity”, but… they work, no sunburned ears, chin, nose for the last two years. during summer ( ha,ha)when they can be a bit warm, but a quick dunk in the water in your cooler and good to go. i also have the sun gloves, which also work. skin cancer is not a good thing – believe me.

As others have said – yes, it is worth the trip, maybe “effort” is more apt. Cornucopia has very little lodging, Bayfield is usually a crap shoot for vacancies – closest town with decent available lodging will be Ashland, as well as dining choices.
Would not choose cross country skis – we thought that would get us there quicker – NOPE. Snow shoes could work. Plan for people in just about every photo you plan to shoot as the crowds have found this very cool place to visit.
my son and I will be there. we were at the Wis/Ohio game at Lambeau a few years ago, and it was a good time.
I also think changing to the “Big Ten” was a mistake.

At work, listening to KQ. Usual banter and b.s. changed in a heartbeat when the second plane hit.
My son and I had brought the boat that morning, planning on fishin’ cats on the Minnesota later that day. Got to Carver and the line for gas by the quik stop was blocks long. River was super quiet, kind of eerie feeling.
As a side note this morning had a “here’s your sign” moment – wearing my FDNY cap as a tribute – coworker says – “oh, are you wearing that cap for 9-11?”. ” NO, I want to be a fireman when I grow up…”

Try this one too:
dice filets into small cubes, dice red sweet pepper and onions into small pieces. Mix in 1 egg, a few drops of milk and enough Bisquick to potato salad consistency. fry patties in Crisco/butter mix ( or your fav oil)til golden brown each side.
Yum,,, dipped in mix of oyster sauce,rice vinegar, and sherry…

Sadly, it is not just winter that finds Prior and Spring to be the place to find insanity and just plain old rudeness.
If you have the time during spring and summer and want some good laughs,or time just shaking your head, spend 15 minutes watching the circus at the public access on Lower Prior.
I would recommend Red Door Resort, on Mille Lacs. Very nice.
Which brings up the question – on lakes with “open water’ speed limits – does same apply to frozen water?

Flynn’s stuff is very good. Also check out the books by William Kent Kreuger, another ST.Paul writer, his series is mostly set in Northern Minnesota. Very good reads.

I have a 2005 Crestliner, and had the “floatation fix” done a couple of months ago. IMHO, the cure can be worse than the cause… and it did nothing to fix a couple of weak spots in the flooring, as most of the new floatation is done in the open spaces which offer no support of the flooring.
Even tho the “fix” should be no-cost, put the time involved into being out on the water.
