Has anyone started their backyard rinks yet? Looks like temperatures will dip mid-week here, with lows being consistent in the 20s, and the ground might start freezing up in the next couple of weeks.
Correct.
There youth programs are top notch. What happens at the High School levels is beyond me. Not sure if kids are leaving or moving onto high level development programs….
Fingers crossed that Chanhassen brings their A-game to the ice tomorrow. They’re looking to bounce back from a 2-3 defeat against Minnetonka on December 7th.
My boy’s in his second year with the Brainerd ‘A’ Squirts, and honestly, it’s going pretty well. Sure, the ice times can be a bit rough, but those weekend matches and tournaments? They’re totally worth it. It’s a team effort, really – he puts in the work on the ice, and I’m there to support. That’s hockey life for you.
I would advise against investing your money in Nitto tires based on my personal experience with two sets. In my opinion, they are soft tires and perform extremely poorly in winter conditions. Although they have an attractive appearance, they require frequent rotations, usually around every 3,000 miles, as they tend to develop cupping issues.
I’ll be shoveling snow off tonight & flooding tomorrow night. Gonna take a couple days to bring back.
With the warm temps it melted down the high ridges nicely, was excited for a nice rink……but the wind, rain that turned to ice , then into snow created a monster.
Well we got approximately 4” of snow, the 4” of snow turned into slush on the top layer of rink.
Is the solution letting this sit for the next 4-5 days & resurface with hot water ?
