Jr, two keys to running putnam and the back channel:
1.) Turn your depthfinder off and drive as fast as you can.
2.) Remember its your dad’s boat.

I would definetely buy the Nano or the Video. As far as the i-Tunes go, your daughter will figure that out in a few minutes. The program comes with the I-Pod when you buy it. Good luck!

I read on an earlier post about this subject that we are now also allowed to fish up until the rules meeting at 5 o’clock on friday for the league event. Does anybody have any definite news on this? Thanks

Is the suffix more or less stretchy than the Sensation?

I only hold one rod at one time, and sometimes I put both in the holders, and I have noticed that without the Loomis’s, the tips are too stiff, and the fish will hit it for a split second, and then drop it because they feel the rod. The loomis’s action is perfect for giving them a little extra time to take it. This is strictly for live-baiting, with stickbaits I use much stiffer rods. My 2 cents.

Hey Steve, I’ve been good. Busy with the whole senior-year thing and working. Hopefully I’ll be at the seminar. See ya there!

I use G-Loomis Crankbait series in medium-light action. Even though I am using heavy sinkers, the rod’s backbone supports it, while the moderate action shows every little tick and bite. I fished with one for 5 minutes with a buddy of mine and was instantly converted. They are worth EVERY penny of the money. Just my 2 cents.

My lab and at least one of her litter mates had a very similar problem. We now give her a supplement called Proin 50, which is for urinary incontinence in dogs. It is just a chewable tablet that you throw in with their food, and it has pretty much cleared up the problem for us. Hope this helps. Thanks

We tried gettting on Fosters today. There was only about 2.5-3 inches so we decided against it and went to the Country Club Manor Pits. We went on the first one and had 2 to 4 inches of not-so-good ice. We ended up fishing but sat apart from each other. If I had to venture a guess, without a cold snap we will not have ice by next weekend. This winter sucks.

Those fish must be a little on the skinny side! I would think that with all those fish over 28″ brought in that there would be at least SOME 8-pounders.

I use bucktails a ton in the fall, and my best colors are always dark, blacks, blues, purples, and greens. When the water is really dirty brighter greens with bright heads work good also.

Went out and trolled the lake today because the river hasn’t been too good to me the last couple days. Started down by Pepin, found the breaks, and headed north to Maiden Rock. Only caught 6 legals, but we never turned around if we caught a fish. All our fish came off points in 12-14 fow. Good luck to everyone heading out tomorrow.

It’s been the same way for my boat. Went out Thursday night fishing some new spots and looking for some hawgs and got SKUNKED. What’s going on, this is JUNE!!! Gonna try it again tomorrow, hopefully with better results.

When and where is the rules meeting? Kind of a dumb question but our entry form was from 2005 and it was the wrong date. I am assuming the 16th at 7 o’clock at the Port? Thanks for the info.

My boat did fairly decent this weekend. We had our best luck jigging with shiners on the mid-like humps and breaks. This actually was our best year ever as far as quality of fish, with numbers of them in the 20-23 inch range, with 3 over 24. The majority of our fish were in the slot, which is definetely showing that the size of the fish in Winnie is increasing! Good luck on your trip.

I would go to Cabelas and look at their nets. I got a Cabelas net for 35 bucks, and all it was was a Frabill pro-lock with Cabelas name on it and 40 dollars less. Good hoop, extends to like 7 or 8 feet, and cheap.

Kooty, Personally I have done my best on big fish when the water was flowing above 40,000 CFS. I think this is because I know more high water spots than low water spots. The fish are forced to feed at sometime, even when the water is at flood stage. Thanks

Hey guys, I say we get a bunch of boats together and fish this thing! Nate runs the Turkey Combo Tournament each year and does a very nice job, so there is nothing to worry about in that area. Let’s see if we can get some more 27-31 pound weights like last year! As long as we use caution and keep our eyes open, this should be just as safe as any other tourney. Hope to see you all there!

Terry, I was wondering on something and asking your opinion would be the mose logical way to answer it. I imagine you spend quite a few days guiding each year. What percentage of those days do you catch a walleye over 4 pounds? And do you ever get into numbers of pigs? In my experience, we don’t catch too many walleyes over 4, and even 4 is a pretty nice fish. Also, what side do you normally catch your pigs on? Thanks for the info. Also, how much snow is up there right now?

After fishing this lake for going on 8 years, I would have to say that this slot should be somewhat helpful, but it is not the best plan of action. In my opinion, there should be a 3 fish limit, with a slot of 14-16″, meaning that all other fish go back. There are just so many small fish in this lake that I think they are kept before they can even get to be 17″. There are so many vacationers that come up there once a year and keep every walleye they catch. After the slower-than-average season I had last year, this program hopefully will work, or something drastic will have to be done. Just my two cents. Thanks

Hey guys. Some friends and I went to see this last night, and I’ll have to say it was pretty good. There actually isn’t that much gore, but the stuff they do show is pretty gruesome. The movie is based on a creepy, but mind-blowing, story line, and the ending is pretty good. I would recommend it to anyone that likes movies like Saw.

How much ice is on Zumbro? Are people driving ATV’s and snowmobiles on it? I am looking to get out there but I want to bring my snowmobile. Thanks

AlvinMack, even if some ice did break off and drift down river, it was a small price to pay to see the look on your face when you hit the ice. It was a comical situation as everybody who was watching you could see the ice, but were powerless to let you know about it. I don’t think that anybody down river was affected by it, so I wouldn’t worry about that too much. I hope your boat is okay. Thanks

A couple of friends and I are going to try the Country Club Many pits in Rochester. I checked yesterday and some people were already fishing on them, but I will try to remember to post an ice report after fishing. Thanks

Yep Dean, my lil’ sis kicked my butt again! She caught most of the saugers (but only because I gave her the hot bait) and the 4.18 pound walleye that put us into second place. It was a blast fishing this tourney, and thanks to everybody that helped with this tourney. Thanks

Not exactly. What I believe happened was a direct result of a free market economy. Economics 101 – Basic principle. A product will sell for the price for which a consumer is willing to pay.

People treat “Price Gouging” as something bad. I look at it as something that makes America great!

I don’t even think “Big Oil” has come close to what I would consider price gouging….

    -J.

Actually, the basic economic principle doesn’t apply to gasoline, as it is an inelastic good. That means that because there are no current alternatives or subsitutes, people will continue to buy gas, no matter what the producers set the price at. I guess I’ve been paying too much attention in Economics lately.

I used it tonight on a freshly killed rooster, and even though I marinated it for only about 25 minutes, it still was delicious!
