it was my first time fishing the extravaganza,it was quite the turn out. the weather was awesome, no wind!!! we werent able to get to the mud flat that i’d hoped to get too, so we fished out from hunters point and set up just off the plowed road. we imediately were on to fish. my partner hooked and released a 24 ” walleye before i even had my lines down. then we got into some real jumbos. i ended up catching the 3rd place fish. 1.37#s. it was a football!!!! cant wait to use the vista cam i won next weekend to ice a bunch more perch!!!! awesome contest, i’ll be back next year

derek, the fish really liked demons, frostys “red glow” and anything gold. jiggin spoons worked great too. i tried a new bait i bought this year, a nils master, sorta like a jiggin rap with a dropper hook, i had action on that tip with a shiner head. are they catching any perch on the flats on mille lacs yet?

i spent dec.27-30th fishing zipple bay area ,pine island and long point. we hammered fish every place we tried.we didnt get any pigs but it was a blast anyway. lots of 12-16″ers. we fished from 22″-28″ of water and caught about 50/50 walleye to saugers. biggest walleye was 22″er. caught a half dozen lawyers.my roommate caught a 32″ 16lb. pout!!! freakin nasty!!! we stayed at twin rivers, it was ok…

congrats ken, what a pig! what was the girth measurement on the fish? i caught a 53″er on the croix last august with a 23″ girth. just wondering how mine compared weight wise. i didnt have a tape with so i didnt know the length when i released her so i used some dacron line and got girth and length that way. she was a pig too. i figured she had to be all of 40# . ill post a pic when i figure out how.
    congrats nice fish!!!!!!

i would try slow-cooking him in a crockpot…. they taste most excellent. if they are starting to become a problem call the dnr.. they take care of nuisance bears. good luck.

loose lips sink ships!!! Earl is right…half the fun is goin out and catching them yourself…. i’m all for sharing info too. But combat fishing sucks so i try to avoid the crowds if i can.If you are lucky enough to “get into em” it would be wise to keep it quite. At least until the bite slows down. Doesn’t it usually seem like when you get a tip on a “hot-spot” the bite is usually at least slowed down by the time you get there? Coincidence? Nope…..
