In really high water be very careful of submerged navigational/ channel markers. Regardless of aluminum or glass, hitting one of those will hurt. Having said that, heading out before the water gets high will help you get oriented with where they “usually” are.
Take it slow.

March 1, 2021 at 8:14 pm #2018879I made 2 of them out of 8″ PVC. They do the trick and work but like Randy said, taking all the reels off sucks. I could fit 3 rods in with the reels. Anything more I would have to start removing them. I did like the fact that I could put a cable around a tree and lock them down for the night. I glued foam onto the end cap so if I had to stop hard the tips wouldn’t go smashing into the PVC.
Roadwork, did you use similar end caps as to what I posted? Thank you for the tip of adding foam to the end caps.

March 1, 2021 at 2:37 pm #2018777Inconvenience of taking reels off is really the only major down fall. When I was manufacture repping for a rod company, that’s how I transported larger quantities of sample rods. I suggest using rod sleeves [/quot
Agree with the inconvenience of taking reels off. The plan is to use rods sleeves for protection.

What is the attraction or advantage to having carpet on topper?

February 16, 2021 at 1:06 pm #2015402FDR, I purchased an ARE from the place on French Island and I’m very pleased with the topper and the installation, communication, etc.
Kwikstick, How recent was your purchase and what was the order time?

Did you have to have a custom boat cover made due to adding the tracks?

February 15, 2021 at 8:17 pm #2015197BassinBill,
I had the opportunity to crawl around one at the Chippewa store just before Thanksgiving. I thought it had a ton of room and felt wide. For perspective, my last boat was a Skeeter MX2025. When the weather warms up I plan on doing a water test. For me, I am most interested in how it handles/tracks when I am on the bow mount. I think it has plenty of storage. I don’t know exact prices, but I was told that the additions to the Starcraft tracks are on the high side as far as price is concerned.
Have fun shopping!

February 2, 2021 at 9:12 am #2011388For you next build I would consider this company.
They seem to be be very thought out, durable, and somewhat flexible in the additional aftermarket things you can add.
Let us know what you end up doing.

If I understand your reply, it sounds like the action might be too slow, too light, or both. I would look for a rod, that increases those attributes. Not knowing what exact rod you are currently running, nor the exact species you are targeting, I won’t throw-out any specific rods. Good luck with the hunt

January 17, 2021 at 10:26 pm #2006965What does everyone have for bobber rod suggestions? I just got done with a trip to lake of the woods and now realize I need to upgrade my bobber rod. Any suggestions for rods that work well with bobbers? Price is not a concern.
Why do you think you need to upgrade? Did you have enough backbone for the fish you were targeting? Or what do you want different from your current set-up?

December 28, 2020 at 9:43 am #2000981I dont, but if you do add some they have these bags filled with sand that are intended to be used to add weight. Dont add anything like cinder blocks or whatever those are a dang projectile if you were to get into an accident. The sand bags are designed to burst if they slam against the walls of the bed of your truck so they arent going to do much damage.
Never thought of cinder blocks, but certainly don’t want anything that would potentially be a projectile. Thanks for the heads up.

Don’t want to seem like a Boat Center fan boy, but their reputation reaches far beyond the borders of WI and MN. I had a Skeeter dealer about 1 mile from me and I chose to drive 53 miles to purchase from Skeeter Boat Center. Sure we thought the price was fantastic, but it was the confidence that they were going to take care of us after the sale. You are correct that something will eventually go wrong, but it helps when the dealer actually does a water test before delivering the boat.
Having said that, I think being ready of the right boat is the best advice. I have found great deals on boats at all different times of year. Sometimes I was ready, and other times I was not.
Have fun shopping and good luck.

April 10, 2020 at 8:32 pm #1932827Yea, Erie is closed. Most same with most of downstate in MI.
On the bright side the banner year for walleyes won’t be impacted by harvest on the Maumee. Not like the river was lacking for fish but numbers will be insane in the next 2-3 years
This is the silver lining!

April 9, 2020 at 9:50 am #1932249Looks like we have opened a whole new can of worms! Looks like more research will be needed. Our home was built in the mid-1990’s. Lead should not be an issue, but having moisture/sweating on the wood windows is an issue during the winter. We trying to have the ceiling fans on for at least a portion of the day, but I don’t think that is a cure for the issue. Just a bandaid at best.

April 8, 2020 at 4:36 pm #1932093How long do you plan on staying at your residence?
[/quote]We can never be sure, but we don’t have any current plans of moving. Considering we will be seeing/using these everyday, I don’t want to be reminded of a mistake everyday.
February 23, 2020 at 10:19 am #1917296I don’t have any experience with this boat, but it does look really interesting for a family. You are 200#, but what is the rest of your family. When we had a 115 4 stroke on our 1700 Lund Fisherman it was fantastic with my 3 boys, wife, and I. At the time the boys were only 9, 7, and 4. But you put 3 big guys in the boat, it would struggle to get on plane. I couldn’t even imagine trying to pull a skier. The Pro XS might have more torque, but again, you have to be reasonable with your expectations given your load. I didn’t verify, but I thought the max HP on the boat 150?
Looks like a really boat. Expecially with the rear seating/casting plat form area.
Good Luck,

January 12, 2020 at 8:14 am #1905560A few quick thoughts.
1) A situation like this, which happens all too frequently, is one of the reasons we are losing more and more coaches no matter volunteer or paid. The same can be said for refs in many sports.2) Be very grateful that you have an AD that supports you.
Now, the sticky thought that comes to mind for me is that, aren’t all kids at the school entitled to play? Regardless of skill or talent level? I don’t personally support the decision “Richard” is trying to make, but for me, I am not sure if that even factors in with my idea that all kids should be allowed to play. Is there a max roster for that young of an age group in school ball?
I agree that you are in a challenging position though.
Thank you for stepping up and coaching!
