If the citizen’s of Minneapolis don’t want to stand up in support of the police officers who risk their lives protecting them, I hope they do defund the police Department. Better yet do away with it all together. The police officers can then move onto a different city where they are appreciated or to another profession where they are. Home values in the Minneapolis area will fall to almost nothing and the good citizens will flee the city like Rats from a burning building. I think the whole defunding of Police should be put to a vote. I really don’t think many people who live there are in favor of it. In fact I believe the majority of them are in favor of a increased police budget. Its only a small percentage who are. Unfortunately its this small percentage who the leaders of that once great city are listening to. I say if a vote is in Favor of it – Go ahead and do it.I think this is EXTREMELY short sighted. The suburbs and outstate need a thriving Minneapolis to be the economic engine of the state like it has always been, and Minneapolis needs the suburbs and outstate residents to feel welcome in the city to make it the thriving city it was a short time ago. Hoping MSP defunds the police and destroys itself further will have untold negative consequences for all of us regardless of where in MN we call home.
Then maybe outstate and suburbs should have more of a say in the politics of Mpls and how state money is spent within the city?
Seems there is no presumption of innocence in this case.
The leaked NY Times story and the MPLS city counsel news release of the civil settlement are both valid reasons for appeal if needed. The trial should have been moved and delayed. This story will be around for years to come.
Also, if Chauvin is not convicted of the second degree murder charge, the charges against the other officers would need to be dropped. There is no such crime on the books for aiding and abetting a 3rd degree murder or man slaughter.
I’m guessing a hung jury and re-trial. We’ll see….
-J.
I think it’s important to remember that the Attorney General’s office is prosecuting this case (AG Keith Ellison), and his son Jerimiah Ellison is on the Mpls City Council.

When you are out and about in an area with an elevated police presence you are going to have more contact with them, simple as thatThe first call received by police leading to the death of George Floyd was received at 8:01 p.m.
Right, and do remember that they were responding to a 911 call for service as he was suspected of passing a forged item.
Could be a valve not fully opening. Happened to me, and was worried about my water pump. Replaced the valve and all was good. Hopefully it could work for you too.
We had to cancel our trip this spring. Does it suck, yes….but I also understand that from a public health and medical resource perspective communities are trying to protect themselves due to their very limited medical resources, and I can respect that. I’m sure that there are those up there that are worried about the resource and are very vocal about it, but every time I have been there people have been very nice and appreciative of having us there spending money.
My thought is now is not the time to demonize each other, and assume ulterior motives. People are plainly scared and trying to cope with their fears. I think we can collectively help calm each other’s fears and get through this dang virus together.
I wish everyone well, and PLEASE WASH YOUR HANDS!
I just got the 22″ with the stand about a month ago (easier portability for camping etc). Really happy with it. I still like the grill for steaks, ribs etc.
Jump in and get a griddle, you won’t be sorry.

Not a cell phone, but we use walkies with the ear pieces. One of the guys in the group told us a big buck was coming in. When he did he must’ve pulled the plug for the ear piece. So now all responses go over the speaker. One of the guys says something to the effect of good luck. It goes over the speaker, spooks the deer and he never got a shot on it.I believe that is illegal. In fact, I think Babe Winkelman got in trouble for doing something similar.
The way I’m reading this is the guy is simply narrating that a big buck is coming in towards himself. Would it be illegal if he was narrating a big buck was coming towards him? At this point, the electronic communication isn’t aiding anyone in the taking of the animal (in fact was detrimental to the taking of the animal )
RS nets are likely fantastic. The only negative I have ever heard is that they are heavy. I guess one more negative is the price. About the cost of a week of daycare.
For that reason I wasn’t going to try and convince the wife that I needed a net that expensive so I bought this.
https://www.sportsmans.com/fishing/fishing-accessories/fishing-nets/ranger-products-tournament-series-nets/p/p1367175I am extremely happy with it. I looked at these compared to the Beckmann and found these to be every bit as good with many more options at a better price. The extendable handle never sticks and is very sturdy. Best value on the market in my opinion and so far my favorite net I’ve ever owned.
Sportsman’s Warehouse in Coon Rapids has a good selection of them if you want to see them in person. They have Beckmann too.
I hate the ego nets btw. Seem very cheaply constructed and doesn’t extend far enough for my liking. Was using one in my buddies boat one time and really struggled with it. He hated it too.
X2….I really like my Ranger net. No problems, durable and affordable.

I find it curious that so many people get so worked up about another posters response. FBR’s “Minnesota Wimps” comment I’m sure was not an attack on anyone in particular. The value of this site is that when a question is raised, people can give their opinion to the question and leave it to the original poster who asked the question to decide for themselves what is of value or not. We all make our own decisions and have our own opinions and we should be respectful of that fact.
To each their own I guess….If FBR wants to be on the river during these high / fast water times I wish him well and to be safe. If you don’t (me included), that’s fine also. The original poster asked a question and has received a lot of opinions to make their own decisions.
Whatever someone decides, I wish you to be safe and good luck when fishing.

Fished off of Stoney Point yesterday. 8 1/2 feet with a jig and shiner. Anything Chartreuse and / orange seemed to be the right color.
That is sweet! Great solution to all these shorter pick up beds nowadays.
My livewell pump cracked and was allowing the boat to fill with water. Replaced the pump and problem solved. Hopefully you issue is as easy!
Caught a 63″ Sturgeon with a tag this past Sunday and just sent the tag info to the DNR. Can’t wait to get this fish’s history back….How long does it normally take to get the info emailed back?
Agreed, it’s most likely the relay. You can switch the relays to find which one is the bad relay. A pretty easy fix.
Good luck
If the act of physically putting a fish in the livewell and filleting it is the main source of enjoyment associated with fishing for someone – I feel extremely sorry for them.
bucky – to each their own I guess. I can’t eat fresh water fish, and therefore am a catch and release type of person. I do however recognize that there are those that like to fish the pond, and also would like to enjoy the results of their efforts by having a meal of freshly caught fish. For those I know, the act of filleting fish is part of the “work” that leads to the enjoyment of eating a meal of fish. Again, to each their own, including opinions.
Thanks Sam for the Composite Auger bit. It was nice meeting you. Just goes to show it pays to ask IDO members when you need help or advise. Good fishing to everyone.
