Thanks for the conformation. The biggest reason I was concerned was Pool 4 was the first place i got to try out my new GPS. And I wanted to know if it was just mine, or not. I have since used it a few more places, and let me tell you, I wouldn’t use my hand held GPS in the boat again. Not unless one of my bouys lost their weight. I cant wait to use it on LOTW.

    Thanks again,

I think my question was lost a bit… I dont mind the site referring to me as a stranger… I even understand why it does. I guess I should have dug around on the site a little more before I asked. I didn’t mean to ruffle any scales (feathers)

“Air Jordan” shoes don’t make you any better of a basketball player than $9.99 K-mart specials. You get the picture……that is what is more frustrating than anything. Will this ever change??”

Not as long as people keep buying the products it wont change. I will never buy the ‘it only cost them $5 to make, and they sell it for $25! Argument. Do you think a bar owner selling shots paid $200 for the bottle of boose? Its his only income stream. Taxes, salaries, benifits (US products anyway)… I don’t have to tell you, the expenses hide everywhere. But as a manufacturer (me) I can tell you first hand, the actual expenses of the product are far less than the expenses that make it to the bottom line.

To keep the peace, I intend to use your landing from now on I knew where it was by water, but last trip over I checked it out from land. Now I will be able to find it. I never wanted to look at 5:00 am and loose fishing time. Its a long trip from Chippewa Falls. I’m rambeling, time for bed.

    Thanks,

I have used the 3000MT one more time since this post, the more I look at it, I’m convinced the GPS is just fine, the overlay map is wrong. I checked into how they make the maps: They start with a scanned image of a paper map, and work it over from there. I’d be willing the bet the paper map is a couple 1000 feet off also. They just have never verified the original map the way we can now with onboard GPS. LOTW looks fine, I think it is just pool 4 (so far)

    Thanks,

Good tip, but make sure you cut the last few fee off first… If you drag a nicked up line, it may twist even more.

    Thanks,

    Hey Chippman,

I can’t go fishing this weekend, but I’m out of Chippewa Falls also.. Nice to see a neighbor on FTR!

Bri… You said you were going to to be there in a black/gray alumacraft… I looked for you all day, I wanted to meet my first FTR’er… Never saw you. We fished from 6:00 am to 3:30, that would explain why I didn’t see you. Oh well, maybe next time. Your right, that wind was TOUGH. And if you are fishing Friday, you may be tougher than I am, sounds like the weather is going to be terrible.

    Thanks,

    John

After further review, I should have put this in the general discussion forum! Sorry.

I’ll say ‘hi’ to dumb, dumb, and dumber, if you say hi to ‘do little’ and ‘no sweat’… We’ll be out in a green and gold alumacraft… See you tomorrow!

I dont know guys.. If its real or not… I’m a computer geek, and I can’t find anywhere that they digitally edited (doesnt mean they didn’t, just that I can’t find it). The ‘shoved under the gill plate’ doesnt work for me. As for the alignment, comon’ if it is real, would you expect it to make sense? I’m usually pretty skeptical, but I’m leaning towards real on this one. Thats my .02

    Thanks for the help guys.

The river hasn’t won yet, it looks like I’m going to hit pool 4 again tomorrow. Maybe there won’t be as many boats, and I can anchor anywhere I want!

    Thanks again,

Thanks firefly…. Were you control drifting or anchored? I think I should have stayed at the dam a little longer

This reply is really to several replies already posted and your original post. I don’t think the point is tourney people are evil. But it only takes one to ruin it for most. I also agree the average Joe is probably typically worse than most tourney fishermen. But can’t we hold the tourney fishermen to a higher standard than the average Joe? I know I got run at close and hard last spring during a tourney, multiple times. The week before with a simular number of boats on the water I didnt have near the problems. One key difference is tourney guys are in a bigger rush to get there than I am. And as to the ‘how do you know its a tourney boat” question. When both people in the boat are wearing matching $500 rain gear, the boat has 25 stickers on both sides, its being pushed by a 225 with a 15 kicker and 10 depth finders, I guess I just assume it is

Thanks for the heads up guys.. I’ve only fished THAT spot a couple of times… I grew up on the Chippewa… So I’m not entirely new… I agree, spring fishing is NOT to be done alone. Respect the water and it will respect you

    Thanks again,

    John
