Second me in the minority but I would not want a touch screen. The guys I fish with who have Garmin struggle in cold Temps and rain with their touch screens.

See if this goes through, I’m currently on LOW. I like the camera for weeds for sure. I can drop it into weed flat and see fish that just don’t get picked up by FFS. The other area I it is for fish ID. Couple recent examples. Little while back I was fishing a point on Gull, marked some fish, threw a few different presentations at them, no bite dropped camera down, was a school of suckered. Now sometimes I’ll see walleye and suckered mixed together, not this time. Another time on Pelican I saw half dozen fish sitting off a hump figured to be walleye dropped camera down, all largemouth. So it’s a tool I use in those ways.

Even with my FFS I use my camera a lot. Used them both today actually. It was interesting watching a few bass and a school of bluegill out in a basin.

Yes, I have 3 actually that I use regularly. One open water that does a good job in sunlight, a small one for hole hopping shallow weed flats in the winter and a larger one for the fish house. I consider it as important as any other electronics…and I use them all!!

Thanks for ask the replies! We are really looking forward to this trip. I have heard nothing but good things about the camp and the fishing. There is 6 of us going and we are taking our own boats. The rocks and like hazards are kind of a concern for us. I’m sure we will go slowly until we get some routes set. I’ll post our experience when we get back. Thanks again!

Virgil Ward Bass Buster marabou jigs, especially the red/white or the yellow. Canadian Blue Tail fly jig… both were walleye killers in their day!

For myself I have found that color pallette 8 works best over any other colors for showing small jigs. Along with that I set my sensitivity up around 12 to 14 and lower the contrast as low as I can get away with…usually around 4. This is for lakes around the Brainerd area, not sure how well it works in stained water.

I was able to download it on my Android phone using the link Joel supplied in his introduction message. Looks very cool, wondering what the criteria is for a lake getting listed as a trophy lake? Also I agree, the lakemaster maps would be much more accurate. Checking a couple spots and they were off a bit…..

They absolutely destroy a spinner bait. Usually 1 fish per bait is all I can get, then need to replace it. North Long lake up 371 out of Brainerd has a good population.

Bringing this back to life, I have been looking into getting a pressure washer. I was looking at electric only because it is something I’ll probably only use 3-4 times a year and didn’t want to mess with gas getting old and problems that can cause. Has anyone used an electric they are satisfied with? Mostly will be using to clean boat and ATV after fishing trips. Currently rent one when need to, maybe that is still best way….. thanks for all help/advice!

Even though it’s generally a poor opening lake, probably hit Miltona with my grandson in honor of all the openers there with my dad, then fish around home (Brainerd area) after the weekend crowds thin out.

Another garage ceiling above the boat guy. Made similar and set up similar to Bearcat.

I run half dozen size 25 presidents on medium light fast rods for walleye jig fishing, for me it’s a great combination, really like those reels. Have used them for quite a few years.

I second this! I fished it for quite a few years, then switched to volunteering at it. Amazing organization and has changed many lives. The fishing contest is a blast and no pressure. You don’t even need to declare what species you are fishing for until you come in to the weigh in.

Thanks again for all the ideas, I like the thought of donating what I don’t use to the library. Maybe the hospital also or some of the after school kids places? Gives me some avenues to check out!

Thanks for the ideas! I have picked out a few that hold special memories or pictures. I like the idea of framing them. We are talking around 100 magazines so there is quite a few!

I added my location….sorry for not doing so when I joined, I visit this site daily, but don’t post too much…. yet, retiring in July..

For what it’s worth, I stopped by the Humminbird booth at the sports show last Friday and talked to the 2 reps there. They did say late summer to early fall they thought a new transducer was coming out. My next question was… will it work with my G3 and G4 units and they said that was the plan.

Spent yesterday running around Backus area hitting a few different lakes. Ice ranged from a good 10 inches on one lake to cruddy 6 inches on the last lake. Found a nice group of crappie using only pinhead and red plastics.

Was on a lake by Nisswa yesterday, still 9 inches of good ice, had the 4 wheeler out after checking the ice depth. Hopefully can still fish a couple weeks yet…..

I made the jump, yes it is worth it in my opinion. I run a 7 and a 9 with the mega on the 9. The latest updates for the Helix AND the Mega have brought it up to bring equal to anything out there. I fish with 2 different guys who run the Garmins and they both agree. Again my opinion, just make sure you update the head and the Mega to the latest releases of you buy it. By the way, I’m 63 and the updates were pretty easy…. even for me!

1976 is the worst I have seen. DNR CLOSED all fishing and hunting for good
part of the fall. Shut the resorts down in northern 1/2 of the state. Folks owned a resort during that time, it was DRY!
