Wing nutt, I`m referring to Faribault county to the west of Albert Lea. It`s spotty and you need to do some scouting. Like everywhere else when the birds are down it can be good.

November 21, 2003 at 12:17 am #1569Spent tuesday on a lake in Faribault county. There was about 2 to 300 mallard`s and the only guy`s on the lake. Must have been fairly new duck`s to the area. They all decoyed about 30 at a time. My shooting could of been a lot better, but we dropped 8 and a pair of honker`s to boot. I think the goosen will be better this weekend with the tough weather forcasted. Either way I will be out after them somewhere. Flip

November 14, 2003 at 12:37 am #1413I honestly ran all the way down the fence row to get to the knob on the hill. Decoys on my back and two mojo`s over my shoulder, gun around my neck. I was hooking up the power on the spinner as the last flock buzzed overhead. When I laid down the snow quit and the clouds broke. Watched them all get up and fly back to the refuge. Just missed them.

November 11, 2003 at 1:53 am #1332We`ll when a guy runs into a hard water problem. The next best thing is a good old field hunt. OOOH boy did we smack em today. Even though my gun barrel must have been drove over by the truck we managed a limit. Don`t think they were the nice BIG greenies from way up yet, but there were a bunch of em. Hit them again tomarrow afternoon. What a blast!

November 7, 2003 at 12:06 am #1233Guy`s heads up on the GreenHead Gear mallards. I ordered three dozen and made the trip to Cabelas for cord and weights. In the bargain cave I saw a box full of these with the paint all gone. I asked about them and it was the first they had in. We`ll not to discourage anybody, the first day on the water they chipped. Sent an E-mail to the company with no reply. I am going to use them the rest of the season and see how bad they get. Some will go back for sure. They are pretty though, and inexpensive. Flip

November 6, 2003 at 2:35 am #280436Iv`e blown a lot of calls in my day. The sweetest little call in my bag is the Illusion. It`s a stubby little bugger, but gives great sound and can be loud when needed. If I remember right I paid 25 bucks for it. The guy`s are right, you get what you pay for!

November 3, 2003 at 11:48 pm #280664Still waiting for some new mallards to hold up in town for a few days of shooting. Field hunting has been fairly good as of late. Still need the new ducks. Has anybody been to the Fairmont area? I think the good shooting is yet to come.

March 20, 2003 at 9:21 pm #262440If I`m not mistaken, the state record largemouth came out of Tetonka lake in waterville. Guy`s name is Joe and he caught other large fish that day trolling raps in the late fall out in front of the inlet. It`s a pig!
March 8, 2003 at 4:03 am #262191Sean, thanks for the update. There are some of us so. Mn. guy`s that still have the itch to scratch. I`m working on a trip next weekend. Sounds like the fish might still be in transition? How shallow do they get before ice out? Do they stage on deep shoreline breaks before moving way in? Flip
February 22, 2003 at 4:24 am #261921It may be possible that the lake may not have a hearty population of crappies in it? Are you guy`s catching any small craps or just the few bigguns? Somthing to think about and try to keep a few pig`s in the lake? Anyhow the bigger fish may be relating to the deep basin part of the lake yet. With the warmer day`s we are having the soft bottom area`s should be swarming with small invertabrates and other critters for the fish to snack on. That`s what you need to find. Good luck and don`t be afraid to drill. 75 or so hole`s and 50 cents of gas there is not enough time. Flip
January 28, 2003 at 1:18 am #261299I made a trip up a couple weeks ago and sorry to say, it was a jerk fest! We fished the moses area. 36ft and deeper. Anything less the fish seemed to get smaller. A few slimers and a 30in pout. The walleyes we did catch were small but like little fresh water sharks, Bam fish on. We also used Judds access and always do. They have never done us wrong. I plan on getting back up on the 14th of feb for another round. Mabey I could hook up or get the latest info from you fellas in the area. Keep jerkin. Flip
January 28, 2003 at 1:05 am #261297It`s been years since the last time I was on the pit in the winter. When I was there I drilled one hole right next to the other and chopped out the center creating an 8 by 16in viewing hole. Dark house and sight fish. Small spoons and waxies, or small jigs will catch fish. It was a blast watching the trout come in and swipe at the bait. The fish I caught that day were around 14in. Lookout for the rats! Heard lots of stories, but untill that day, never believed them. Had a muskrat pop up in the hole for some air. Took a look at two of the wierdiest looking fellas and down he went. That was in a shappel two man. One of the first they made. Can you imagine two guy`s over 6’5 standing straight up when that little bugger came in. It must of looked like camel humps. To funny. Gook luck! Flip
September 25, 2002 at 3:29 am #259539Cedar lake and the fish are moving every day. It won`t be long before they vanish. Get on them now if you want to have some fun! Hey sports anchor you fish any tourney`s. I live in austin.
September 24, 2002 at 12:35 am #259533I was out last weekend and found the quality fish up shallow on the wood. Couldn`t buy a fish out deep. One boat caught some nice fish on a little rock bar out in 12ft or so. We were flippin trees up in less than 3ft. The fish didn`t turn on till ten or so, the water was cccccold in the morning. Keep jerken Flip
September 24, 2002 at 12:28 am #259532Goldenboy, I have heard you talk about the funky monkey before. Who manufactures it and where can I pick them up?
September 16, 2002 at 8:17 pm #259485Star lake in ottertail county has some of the best bluegill/ crappie fishing i`ve experienced in years. My kids were not having to much fun bassfishing and the walleyes had not started going yet so I found some gills and the action didn`t stop. I really didn`t get to fish for 2 hours. What a blast.
September 16, 2002 at 3:13 am #259478hideeho hawger and friends. The fall bite is on, but the fish are not where they are supposed to be. To me fall bassin consist of deep weeds and big jigs and tubes with wiggely arms and junk like that. Now it`s trick worms, spinner baits, buzz baits, and some texas rig`s just to keep me sane. I did manage to turn a tough day into a decent day a week ago. Day after a front, high sky`s and very little wind. Couldn`t buy a bite on a worm and started throwing a crank…….BLAM…….SMACK…….KAPOW. Man they were ripping them. Reaction strikes were needed. Learned a huge lesson, and I thought I knew it all. Ha ha. Hey thanks and keep jerken Flip
September 16, 2002 at 2:52 am #259477Hello fellow fisher friends. Finally figured out how to get in, and chat with yall. My wife tells me she can see scales forming daily, so I`ll try to slip some info in when I can. It`s nice to see some people that fish bass in so. Mn. lakes also. The last month has been nasty, as far as typical fall patterns go. I`m finding most, or on some lakes, all of the fish shallow. Have you guys found the same thing? Some lakes have nice green weeds yet, Which is mnice to see. And others, dead pond weed scum, junk, stuff, muck! Every time I get out I`ll try hasf a day looking for the mother load on that coontail patch out in 10ft or so. There not there, are they? Iv`e marked fish in 15ft of water with some small weeds and tried to catch them and nothing. Two weeks ago on Francis I threw some crawlers at them. Bang bullhead, about a 1.5er and another. All done with the worms! Anybody else seeing this? Are the fish still mostly shallow? How about it. Thanks for having me and I hope this works.
