I might wait for a full authorization from the FDA to get the vaccine, I bet the EUA gives the manufacturers extensive liability protection and the vaccine might not do me any good. I have never suffered from influenza or have had headaches or fever for a very long time.

As far as I know, the vaccine doesn’t prevent infection or transmission of the virus so mutations are likely to still happen, it just prevents the virus from causing the disease much like other vaccines. The vaccine manufacturers wouldn’t have reliable data if none of the test subjects tested positive for the virus.

Mask effectiveness is based on the virus being an aerosol and the mask being sealed against the face which most are not. I do think a lot of questions about the effectiveness of the vaccine should be answered in the next month

It is true that they don’t get data on transmission from the trials, those are for safety and efficacy. The transmission data is done retrospectively and is coming in now. Currently there are 5 published studies on the mRNA vaccines re: transmission and they reduce transmission by 70-90%

All good questions. Best data so far says the mRNA vaccines are 90% effective at preventing covid infections in the real world, 95% effective at preventing symptomatic infections, and basically 100% effective at preventing severe/hospital/death. That 100% number will not last, there will be vaccinated people that die of covid.
The data on transmission doesn’t come from the initial trials. That data is starting to come out now and so far it looks like the Pfizer vaccine reduces transmission by about 70%. The bottom line is the vaccine doesn’t stop you from breathing the virus in. It does help your body prevent it from replicating too much. So a vaccinated person can still breathe it in and the virus will still replicate some. In 10% of the cases it can multiply enough to test +, in 5% enough to feel symptoms, in 30% enough to be contagious.

The cdc director walked back those comments the next day, FYI.

Robin Hood and E*TRADE have stopped people from buying some stocks now, probably be the end of the Robin Hood app, honestly. Protecting the rich from being robbed by the poor doesn’t fit their name very well. I got in and out at decent times but was too chicken to put a lot of money in on it. Still did well but the hindsight hurts!

Healthcare workers so we are fortunate enough to get priority through the school programs. A lot of friends that aren’t “tier 1” have been getting spots at the school program, however. Hopefully something works out

A few things: Sweden didn’t do “nothing.” They shut down a lot of schools and limited restaurants/bars. Comparing Sweden to countries that are the most similar seems to make the most sense to me. Of course their economy is tied to it’s neighbors but you would think it would be somewhat better if not shutting down was going to help their economy.
Not sure about Florida but Texas did have a stay at home order at the state level and at the county level in addition to stopping elective medical procedures.

Are we going to compare Sweden’s population to the US population in terms of chronic disease, obesity, and access to healthcare?

Sweden currently has about 10x as many deaths as it’s neighbors and the economy has been impacted just as much. Florida and Texas both shut down industries for a second time

The school closing thing is going to be rough for awhile I think. Chaska/Chan is going in the right direction so far, announced adding in person days for high school kids soon. In Germany every kid in school gets two fast acting tests a week. It would have been nice if we would have prioritized school months ago

Usually use a swim bait for a trailer and reel like a spinner bait. Very effective when ripped through grass

I must have been interesting enough for you to comment about me and you have clearly thought a lot about things I have posted. So much so that you feel like you have my belief system pegged. I apologize for taking up so much of your mental energy

FTE, no manifesto required as you’re already transparent, and frankly, not that interesting nor original.

Well I have been duly chastised and owned by you good sir. Enjoy your impressive victory and please tell the tale of your win wide and far. I will definitely think twice before stating my opinion again as I never should have dared to question your vastly superior intellect.

Is there a middle ground between hating all cops and full blind support? Maybe thinking that the system needs some reform and that maybe they shouldn’t pal around with armed militia (who were also breaking curfew by the way).
So if you think there are some issues in law enforcement that need to be examined and addressed you automatically hate all cops and aren’t allowed to need them if you’re in trouble? What a fascinating either/or world you live in.

Do I think destroying property is ok? No

Do I think our country has issues in law enforcement and criminal justice? Yes.

If you occupy the ‘middle ground’, possibly you should illustrate that to us sometime.

Should I write you a manifesto of my personal beliefs? Assuming I hate all cops from my posts would be the same as me assuming you are racist from yours, which I haven’t done.

Reports now are that the shooter was a 17 year old from Illinois that travelled to the area

And here is a fun video of police thanking the armed militia and giving them some water before the young man shot 3 people

This thread is …… something. The guy had a warrant, which means he was charged but I don’t think he was convicted. Supposed to be innocent until proven guilty right? Seemed like they probably didn’t need to pump him full of lead. Should he have complied? Sure. Is non-compliance justification for lethal force, no.

If you have a garbage disposal put a whole bunch of ice cubes down it. That helps knock all the food debris out of the mechanism. Then poor bleach or something similar down the drain

I would bet good money that he was never on it. When he said he was it was during a speech about how effective it is and it seemed like he just threw it out there as evidence of how effective it is. Off the cuff comment by a pathological liar. Even the doctor’s statement afterwards didn’t say he was on it, just that they had discussed the risks and benefits. The doc probably gave him a baby aspirin or a vitamin to shut him up

If we give you a baby aspirin will you shut up?

Telling me to shut up a month after a comment is an interesting choice. Hope you felt tough afterwards or whatever it was you were going for.

Just sick of guys running down the President every chance they get, especially when its off topic. Maybe start your own hate thread? I guarantee I’ll stay out of that one.

Somebody brought up trump being on hydroxychloroquine and I said I didn’t believe he was actually on it, very off topic. Maybe you are just a bit cranky today.

Ha, I actually thought the same thing when I looked at the schedule. Just be glad you aren’t a cardinals fan I guess?

Research agrees for the most part. Aerosols don’t build up outside like they do in poorly ventilated indoor spaces.
