I made it out on Lake Winnipeg this past Friday, it was without a doubt the best 3 1/2 hours of fishing I have ever experienced. As stated in my post” A GREAT SEASON COMING TO AN END”, over 40 Walleye landed, largest was 26″. The picture is of one close to 23″.

just a side note, bleeding the fish makes the process of cleaning the fish a lot cleaner.

I do two things, first I bleed the fish I am going to keep.
Not only do the filets cook up nice and white but improve the taste, also prior to cooking I will remove the lateral line bones (half way front to back). Never had a problem with smell or taste.

This is the fourth season for my Ice Lodge and I have never taken the seats off the rail and have no wear in the canvas . Seems like lots of room for the canvas behind the rail.

I have two TUCR’s, a power precision, and a precision, both 32″ with regular guides and I am very pleased with both. Until it really warm’s up I fish out of my Otter (just too cold up here), and I don’t know if I would change anything if I had a do over.

I got hooked by a Chubby Darter a week ago, very glad we are barbless here in Manitoba.

like previously posted, for what you get they are pricey. You may also encounter interference problems if using close to Marcum or Birds. Currently I have two LX5’s, but have owned a Marcum LX2, 2 LX3TC’S, and an LX7. The only issue I ever had was with the LX7 and Marcum looked after it swiftly. Can’t really go wrong with any of them Vex,Bird, or Marcum.

Aspen fuel, no mixing, very little fumes. After almost two decades of use I thought I would take my Jiffy in for a tune up. The shop I took it to emptied my gas and put Aspen in. Never had any issues starting before and all I used was the pre-measrued Jiffy mix, but now I don’t have to run dry at the end of the season, supposed to be good for two years.

find a place that sells minnow tails, they usually will carry heads as well.

One of the main reason’s I have stayed with Marcum has been their customer service, only once did I have a problem after owning six different units, and I sent the unit back and it was returned extremely fast ( I’m in Canada so that counts big time), but any time I have had a question via e-mail I have had a fast response. Interested to know how your screen flashes with no power.

Had the same issue new years day, the owners manual (online) describes in detail how to clean properly. Good luck, and I hope the cleaning resolves my problem as well as yours.

32″ power precision for blade and rattle baits, and 32″ precision for jigging.

should not be that tough to get on, the cover should go over the poles, tent material, and snug up under the lip of the sled. Is it made by Otter ? I ask because the first cover I bought for my Ice Lodge was a knock off and promptly went back, the store I bought it at did not tell me it was a knock off.

All I have owned is Marcum, starting with an LX2, 2 – LX3’S, AN LX7, and now 2 – LX5’S. When looking this year to add to my arsenal I gave serious thought to the 55 but stayed with Marcum due to fantastic customer service ( always received fast response to my questions ). The only issue I ever had was the power switch on the LX7 and they fixed it and got it back me sooner than expected. Hummin Bird dropped the ball with me several years ago and that was huge in my decision.

will it come back on ? I had a problem with mine shutting off if I went to adjust or change anything. If I disconnected the battery and reconnected it the screen would come back on but I could not touch any buttons or off it would go. Unit had to go back to Marcum for repair.

ice was 16″ where I was on the west side, lots of frazzel ice and there is a good size pressure ridge there. On the east side conditions are worse, two pressure ridges of good size, really have to pick your spots. We had some major winds when ice was setting up. Hope you make it up (it’s worth the trip) and good fishing.

The Big Buddy keeps my Otter Ice Lodge nice and comfortable even in extreme cold. I do 99% of my ice fishing on Lake Winnipeg and it gets pretty cold in January/February. Very quiet and I believe the fan moves the air just enough,

It was seen on U.S. sites, as far as border issues I can’t see that being a issue, James is bang on, there is a Rapala Canada and Rapala U.S. Had I not seen the issue being discussed on a local fishing forum I would have sent the form in. I am sure they are well aware of the cross border shopping and made a provision. There are many corporations that have a division in both the U.S. and Canada and the only difference is where you send the rebate form.

get your lab checked by a vet, all asprin including baby asprin contain blood thinners, prolonged use may cause serious problems.

I have the Ice Lodge and can load myself with no issues, I use 2 – 2×6 loading ramps and just push it up.

I have made mistakes when bidding on contracts, if I screwed up I screwed up and do not go to the client to make it up. $600 mistake, eat it, keep your reputation in good standing ( I would not let them know of my mistake )rather than having a client go around telling the story that might cost you future business. It is amazing how much bad advertizing $600 can buy.

connections were the first thing I looked at, unplugged and re-attached several times with the same result. Unit would power up but as soon as you pressed any of the buttons, off she went. The frustrating part was when it came back on the target i.d. setting was higher than originally set and showed very large marks and I could do nothing to change it.

I do like the looks of the new Strikemasters, but in 17 years all I have had to do to my Jiffy 10″ is replace the pull cord this year. Run top end gas with Jiffy mixture only, and run her dry at end of season. Starts second or third pull even in extreme cold. It is heavy though.
