Dont know what other people are seeing, but in the last week or so the fishing has really gotten bad..fished a lake in the mille lacs area and was on the struggle bus bigtime finding Crappies or Sunnies ( I normally do fairly well on this lake) marking some but seem to have scattered and in a very negative mood. my feeling is that the shallow lakes are going into that turnover lull, waters getting cold, dirty slightly stinky..what are others seeing?

Still hunt opener more out of tradition then anything else…more of a late season hunter. Anyways, for this years adevnture we got thunder, lighting, heavy rain a few times out by Hutch. Did manage to get a couple Teal and Woodies, kinda surprised by the lack of ducks and hunters.

Cory is the Great Lakes Fisheries Biologist? I think, super interesting guys, has some great knowledge and insight if you get a chance to listen, he’s been on a couple podcasts, etc talking about Superior and the fishing and the whys and what’s..

This is a good segway into folks worst lakes..I don’t really have one since I see it as a challenge but I’d if I had to pick one I’d say Leech Lake..I can’t catch a cold on that lake..like to hear other peoples tales of woe.

Honestly, wrapped up the season this morning in the western metro..another nothing..I’d say its been the worst year in a few for not seeing ducks..or even geese for that matter, not sure what the problem was..migration shifted, bird flu or drought..probably a few things. I know there are people in pockets getting birds but when even the CO’s are saying no ones getting much..must just be an off year..it happens..theres always next year toast

Hit a metro lake yesterday..they have pulled the docks and bouys. Water temp 45 degrees..big drop from a week ago. fished walleyes, nothing going on, only bites were grabbing the back of the tail. On another note though, I lost the biggest fish of my life so far..50+ inch Muskie, will have a green hair jig hanging from her snout if someone hangs her in the next day or so applause

Best bet would be to cast spoons by the river mouths and or hitting Two Harbors Breakwall with spoons or maybe crawlers and a bobber . I have also caught Herring on shore on the edge of deep rocks using worms, but that was a later in the fall..

Never made it out, up on Vermillion fishing instead this year but son and his buddies were out by Lac la Parle and did ok on some private slough, mostly Blue Wing, couple Mallards. Normally make a run out to Nodak for the Non-Res opener but gonna wait until later this year, tired of shooting little ducks in the heat.

Looks to me like two people ran into each other at bad times…personally thought the cops were being pretty civil about the whole thing until someone decided to get huffy and do what they wanted to do. At the end, was the houseboat damaged or people hurts? people be crazy.

Weather was tough on the south side, only decent day was Tuesday. Tough bite, 1 20 incher on a chrome and blue Husky Jerk out on Huddles Reef. Marked plenty of fish, just no eaters. Nothing on harnesses or power corking with leeches.

Headed up to the South shore this weekend for a week, have the walleyes digested the bugs yet or are they still hatching? Any words on the bite, I’m assuming the usual July thing..will try and post when I’m up there.

Following…headed to the south end 7/15 – 7/22. Sounds about right with timing and bug hatches

Unless we get a bunch of rain in the next month it’ll be interesting..definitely a game changer, concentrate the birds a little more would be my guess..don’t quote me but i think the wild rice will just go dormant?

Buddy of mine lives in far SW Minnesota claims he’s seen more broods spread out this year then in the last 40 years, says you don’t have to drive too far to see a bunch..

The criminals are definitely at work since the “Defund Police Movement” and they are not going to hang around areas where there is no prey..be smart people, lock your car no matter what, don’t have anything of value exposed for the “Car Shoppers”..criminals don’t waste their time on stuff that takes to much time or brains to steal..its almost always targets of opportunity.

During the season I like to try and get out at least once a week, what I’ve found works best is changing it up, fishing different water, species, etc. Also got into fly fishing and rigged the boat for big water trolling, make at least one trip trolling to lake Michigan a year. Raised three kids so totally understand the time and money constraint thing too, take the kids and sit by a river or lake..nothing better then reeling a big carp in for sure. Have fun!

Got into Airbrush DIYing crankbaits and trolling spoons few years ago, taking a break this year since trying to get the blanks out of China (where most of them come from)is taking a lloonng time. lots of fun, have been giving away a ton to family, friends, etc..some catch fish, some not so much, but look pretty. A few good Utube videos out there also to help guide you. enjoy!

Classic sales tactic, tell people they can’t have something and they want it more..even if they don’t need it..some may even call it the “Death and Doom” close..better sign today..might be gone tomorrow applause

Whitebear on Sunday…fished north end out of the public landing..walked out to Ordway Bar and fished. Ice is very variable, saw 5 inches and 11, no one driving but did see car tracks going out a little ways which I’m not sure what to think about..maybe sanity took over..drove by Bald Eagle also and didn’t see anyone driving out there either but lots of people.
