I sure enjoy having the co-pilot on the Minnkota, I don’t know Motor Guide something like that or not.

If it is going to be used a lot on a boat I would recommend the FL 18 because of the 6ft bottom lock. The bottom lock is nice in rough water.

bigcrappie is right on the mark. I have had $35.00 ones and $150.00 ones and they all worked great because they were installed correctly.

Only caught one it was about 4 inches. We caught most of our yellows on Sat, we only caught around 20 on Sun.

We caught most of them in 12ft of water north of the island anchored. We fished with a small white twister and 1/2 a minnow about an inch or two of the bottom. Early Sun morning they wanted live minnows under a bobber, then about 10:00 they hit better on the bottom with a 1/2 minnow. I think I will be heading back on Sat for the day. I will be in a off white and gray alumacraft trophy 190 with a evinrude 120 and a yamaha 9.9 swing by and say hi.

I just bought a co-pilot and took it out on Friday. I loved it, espically when casting around docks like I was on Friday. It appeared to me you can tell what speed your using by the beeps. I would take down to where it quit beeping and it appeared every beep going up was another speed. My only complaint to my fishing buddy who was with me was that I didn’t buy one along time ago.

Thanks for the imput from everyone, I bought the Guest, can not wait until it arrives. I went to a 24 volt trolling motor and charging one battery at a time is a pain.

I think any one of them make a unit that will fit your needs, I personally like Eagle because from what I can tell they are the same unit as Lowrance and probably made the same place for a little less money.

What’s the secret to copy, or print on this web site? Wanted to print recipe but cannot print or copy it.

So if you have to use 2 batteries, why do they call them 12/24 volt? That is a little confusing.

I fish SD several times a year and it is a sad site right now. Why don’t the DNR or whoever is in charge of the $63.00 the state of SD rips all of us out of state fisherman for a license; put some of that money towards a hiring a lobbiest so the state of SD can be heard.

The ignition box was around $200.00, another expensive lesson a couple of friends and I have learned about repair shops for mercs is to ask if they have a merc dyno machine. We all had some bad experiences until we started going to Algona Marine. Having a merc dyno machine eliminates the throwing parts at it until its fixed. Good luck, and let us know what the problem was when you get it fixed.

Gary and Dan are both right, with the added addition of when it starts to die at first just push the key in again for a split second and it will usually stay running. You might want to take your cover off and push the the key to make sure your choke is working correctly. I had a problem very similar to yours a couple years ago and had to take it in. They replaced one of the ignition boxes and said the box has low and high voltage sides. They said the low voltage side was bad and that was why it started hard, but ran fine once I was in gear and going. I have not had any problems since.

I have found that many Merc owners do not know that you have to push in on the key and hold it in to choke the motor. If this is not your problem let me know and I might be able to guide you in the right direction.

Some people are not trying to poach they are just uneducated. Maybe there should be a written test to get a fishing license and a BIG!!! fine for fishing without one.

When you are pounding on the rivets, you should have someone on the bottom holding something like the head of a heavy hammer against the rivet while someone pounds on the other side. If you find that you have a small crack somewhere, you need to find the ends of the crack and drill a small hole this will stop the crack from expanding. I can’t think of the proper name, but most welding shops have a special type of welder just for fixing aluminum.

I fished CL a lot last year but never paid any attention to whether it has any resorts on it. My 85 year old father-in-law now lives with us and I would like to take him to a resort on CL if there is one with a dock for him to fish off. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Everett

Finally made it to SL for the first time this year on Friday. Worked it hard, but managed to pick up a 19, 18, 16, and one short. Threw chartreuse and black twisters, the 19 came off the chartruese and the rest off black. Everyone out that day said the bite was a little off compared to earlier in the week. Seen four other keeprs get landed.

I have two fishing friends that have them. one I believe has a 125 Johnson 4-stroke and the other has a 115 2-stroke. They both have 9.9 four stroke kickers neither has any problems. I still have an 87 trophy 170 with a 90 and a 9.9 four stroke, can’t upgrade for a few years kids starting college. The 175 will be my next boat also, you will love it.

I agree Cornking, we fish SD far more than MN and everytime we go to SD 80% of the boats there are from MN.

I’m from IA and my fishing buddies and I fish IA, SD, ND, and MN we always follow the rules. In my 25 years of fishing walleyes I have come across poachers many times also and it is very frustrating. What I have noticed is most of the poaching that goes on is done by a handful of locals and every area has them.

I have had good luck with this also. I know of two fishing trips that we were on that this made the difference between a fantastic trip and an ok trip. I have also found when fishing this way SLOW in the answer, this is about the only time I use my drift sock. Never tried the spin verson, going to try it next time. Probably depends on the day which way they want it.

Hey GEM-EYE-GUY lets get honest about who is really two months behind. Fished the Brainerd ice fishing tournament two years ago in late Jan not knowing that MN was two months behind everyone else, I bought an annual license thinking I would be good for the year. Not a happy Iowan 3 months later when I found out I had an expired license.

Ok, I can’t take it anymore, a couple of fishing buddies and I are heading to pool 4 next Fri & Sat. Any advise on an inexpensive place to stay, where to put in and suggestions on where to fish would be greatly appreciated. Fished the Missouri many times, looking forward to fishing the Mississippi for the first time.
