    My takeaways from the game:

Brodin is becoming a star in front of our very eyes.
    Hartman is good at hockey.
Duhaime has a very bright future with us.
Kaapo played very well against a very skilled team.
The team plays so much better with Zucc
Can we flip rask for a 5th rounder or something?
Dumba made some risky defensive plays I wasn’t a huge fan of, but played decent anyways

I legitimately think that we can make a deep playoff run this year, but our first PP unit has to get it together. Goaltending could also improve a little bit, but overall we played well against a team with proven playoff success.

Connor McDavid is good at hockey.

As far as playoff success goes, you can’t place all the blame on the 2 superstars, although they certainly have room for improvement when it comes to the postseason. Playoff defense and goaltending have been abysmal for the Oilers in the past seasons.

Koskinen is picking up the slack really well in the absence of Mike Smith, going 6-1 in his last 7 with a .934 sv% before last nights shootout. Defense has been meh, but I genuinely think this team has what it takes to make a deep playoff run this year.

I also believe that it’s best for the NHL’s publicity if Connor McDavid wins a cup. Not only will it boost marketing if the face of the league wins his first Stanley Cup (think Giannis in Milwaukee, but better), but it gives a boost to the Canadian market that hasn’t seen a cup since the ’92-’93 season.

I am very excited to see what the rest of the hockey season brings.

Someone on another site said he was spotted on Waconia and Auburn…

Wouldn’t be surprised. Waconia kicks some bigs out every year, but Auburn is a more interesting case. It produced the state record back in the 90s, but I’ve heard that the bass fishing isn’t anything special there

Skunked in the bass department yesterday. Followed one tiger muskie around in the kayak but no bass to be found. Switched u=it up last night and found some walleyes though

Not sure if images are loading or not, so I’ll reattach just in case.

Welcome Javier! I’m glad you and your son have gotten into fishing.

As far as budget-friendly gear goes, you can’t beat a Pflueger president spinning reel for the price. You can either get that reel in a combo (rod and reel together) or buy the reel seperately. One rod I would recommend is either the Fenwick Eagle or Fenwick HMX. Both are great rods for the price.

Hope you continue to learn and enjoy everything fishing has to offer.
    Tight lines!

K-Drill requires more actual drill power because it uses chipper blades. Lite flite is nice from what I’ve heard, and you don’t need a really beefy drill, but i’ve heard that blades dull very quickly. If you have a drill with more than 1000 in-lbs of torque, I’d personally go with the K-Drill. If not, I’d go with the lite flite.

Nope no fish in blackwater. What’s a blackwater? There’s no fish there.

I think lake management needs to stock more rock bass and green sunfish, the two most important gamefish in our waters

I’ve heard of a lot of Pro XS issues as of late. Most are only after 1-2 seasons of use as well.

XL might be a little more fuel efficient, but don’t quote me on that

Muskies are extremely active. Saw 12 in 2 days of bass fishing. Caught a 47″ and shook off a low 30s because I wanted my jig back. Saw 2 over 50″ though

A couple Bassmaster and MLF guys have started to do this. They noted that there is a decent amount of interference with running two different live imaging ducers, but they said it didn’t bother them too much. If you do end up going that route, you should definitely post a follow up to the thread on how it goes.

Broke off a magdraft, tossed a glidebait where i lost it, caught the pike with all but the magdraft tail digested

there was a website like this that sold humminbirds for like $49 or something. Based on the price of a Terrova, I’d probably write this off as a scam

Bite has been brutal since my last update. Looks like highs are supposed to dip down and stay in the 70s in the coming week, so maybe that will help fishing.

Gotta say I don’t enjoy it being dark outside by 9.

    #2054975

Lots and lots of tiger muskies. Also gotten pure strain muskies, rock bass, every kind of sunfish, pike, rock bass, more pike, walleyes, sheepies, dogfish, some pike, carp, goldfish and pike.

    No trout or kitties yet.

    #2054974

Yeah they’re eating a jig better than a neko or even a wacky right now. 3/8oz Stealth feider stays on deck

    #2054088

Jigging and slip bobbers, actually. Couldn’t get them to eat anything flashy. Black/brown (darker color) jigheads seemed to do the best.

Was down in the Faribault-Le Center-Shieldsville area yesterday from around 6-5. Fish were once again hard to find and large (typical for that area). My best 5 on the day ended up somewhere around 15 pounds, anchored by a 4.27lb Melon. That was my first bass over 4 pounds this whole year, though i’ve gotten too many to count in the 3 pound range, so I can’t complain.

The fish I found were shallow. I don’t think I caught a fish in more than 5 feet of water. The weedline ended in around 3-5 FOW, so that wasn’t too surprising. I got my fish on a combination of frogs, jigs, and chatterbaits. Couldn’t seem to get anything on the ned, wacky, or neko. There were lots of dead Sheephead in the lake I was fishing, so there must’ve been a summerkill (though I didn’t see a dead fish that wasn’t a sheepie)

I don’t wanna speak too soon, but I’m thinking that the reaction bait bite is starting to heat up. I don’t think I could be more excited to finally be able to catch more fish powerfishing than on finesse.

Deepest weeds you can find, preferably cabbage. Leeches and minnows. You’ll catch a lot of fish that aren’t walleyes, but you’ll get more walleyes than you’d think.

This was a really fun read. Definitely an interesting story. ALMOST makes me want to be a muskie guy lol

    #2050728

I know you said no rapala, but I’m countering that by saying DT-10. All you could ever want in a crankbait.
