I run the itroll. Good is I find it certainly better than relying solely on kicker throttle because of the greatly enhanced fine adjustments. Bad is that it (and trollmaster too, I believe) is simply a throttle position adjustment system. I would certainly think somebody will come out with a system linking throttle control system to GPS and allow the throttle to be speed over ground controlled like all the electric trolling motors. As mentioned, it is possible to combine the trolling motor and the kicker to use the trolling motor for speed control, but this can be a challenging balancing act when mother nature throws curve balls at you.
Launched at Bay City yesterday (Monday). All clear. Bathroom not open.
Just curious – where did you find the three blade prop for Terrova? Did it make any difference compared to stock two blade prop? Thanks.

Drove by Colville on HWY 61 yesterday, Wednesday. South marina appeared ice free with a number of trailers parked in lot. Looks good to go.
Also drove by the new, two-lane boat launch and parking area on Trenton Island. They were working on it, but have a lot left to do so do not plan to use it for a while.
Regarding the comments regarding the “White Cross” areas by the dams. For the fishermen who do not know, the buoys and day marks are regulatory marks that are part of the U.S. Aids to Navigation. See page 9 of U.S. Coast Guard’s U.S Aids to Navigation System brochure http://www.uscgboating.org/assets/1/workflow_staging/Publications/486.PDF
Recreational boaters on the Mississippi River are required to be knowledgeable of these requirements and to comply with them. See page 28 of “The Handbook of Wisconsin Boating Laws and Responsibilities” http://dnr.wi.gov/files/PDF/pubs/LE/LE0301.pdf Also see page 30 of MNDNR “Minnesota Boating Guide 2014 A summary of Laws and Rules” http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulations/boatwater/boatingguide.pdf
The “White Cross” markings downstream of local dams are exclusionary marks prohibiting boats from entering the restricted areas below the dam. These restricted areas are there because the history of many fatalities below the dams proves that those waters and under current areas are not safe boating areas. We have all seen the many “sportsmen” who feel it is “cool” to see who can cheat furthest into the restricted areas. These individuals are setting terrible examples for our children and families. Safety needs to come first before trying for an extra ten feet of fishing where they do not belong. I encourage all who observe those encroaching into the restricted areas to express your disappointment.
I also encourage those who are not familiar with topics such as the U.S. Aids to Navigation system, to contact the Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the MN DNR, or the WI DNR to obtain boating safety information to share with your families so all can enjoy this wonderful river safely.
To be clear, the restricted areas marked by the Aids to Navigation are in effect year round and are closer to the dams than the seasonal 300 ft environmental zones established by the DNRs.
Looks like good system. Is your’s the medium (12″ X 16″) or large (12″ X 24″) size? Thanks.
