Took the family out yesterday…not a bad early ice trip…only 5 inches of ice…its been a late year for Alaska.

I fabricated a tripod to set up on the bottom…I took my go pro off and put back down with the chum bag, snagged up and lost the whole rig. Good guess on that fish..I was thinking it was in the mid hundred range.

the chum bag is at least 20″x 10″ in diameter. Unfortunately we didn’t hook the fish, but when we lost the chum bag, my dad insisted that we try to find it and put down on it.

my buddies razzed me for that one, but what can I say dad can get excited when his kids our into crazy action.

only have a little over a foot up here in Alaska, we’re a little behind schedule. I blame El Nino.

Congrats back to you on your first. I remember having my son holding a mini pole over our fish tank to try to get our cichlids to bit a lure without a hook. He was just a couple of weeks old then.

Thanks guys for the comments. Sometimes its a lot of work to bring the kids out and they get cold fast, but times like this make it all worth it. Feel free to share the video to encourage others to get their kids out ice fishing too!
