Also numerous wheelers out. Some of the bigger wheelers weigh as much as my lil 500 ranger.

It’s the Petenwell flowage. In central Wisconsin. Never frozen over on this years first cold snap so no thawing and re-freezing. Also minimal snow cover. It’s a channel based lake so I wouldn’t drove over the channel, just out to it. Walked over channel tonight and had 6.5 inches.
June 25, 2019 at 8:23 pm #1864274As far as the boats, anybody fish out of the crestliner discovery 1650 tiller? Both boats seem nice but I’m leaning towards the crestliner, partially cuz the dealer is right down the road from me and seems like a great guy.
June 25, 2019 at 5:03 pm #1864239I heard that too much trolling motor could buck ya out of bow? Lol
February 15, 2018 at 3:49 pm #1752696I’m on my 2nd season with a Jiffy Pro 44. Absolutely love it! No issues what so ever and noticeably lighter than my buddy’s HC 40
December 27, 2017 at 2:01 am #1738637I have a couple sienna’s. They are a good reel, but I like my pflueger trions better.
December 6, 2017 at 5:40 pm #1733456I use a 27in L tickle stick as well as a clam meat stick. love how versatile they both are. I feel comfy using anything from 1/64 oz jigs to 1/8 spoons. Have a vmc tungsten fly 1/32 oz on the tickle stick and a 1/12 oz kastmaster on the meatstick right now… and that’s probably how it will stay all winter.
December 6, 2017 at 5:34 pm #17334543lb trilene micro ice on multiple rods. has worked good for me for everything from gills to eater eyes. I use 6lb for bigger eyes and trout. both in clear steel color, lil easier to see than clear but haven’t noticed the fish caring. Trilene xl in clear has always been good to me as well. Use 4lb on my tip downs and 8lb as a tip up leader.
March 9, 2017 at 4:20 am #1679918A 1/12 oz gold Kastmaster on a 29 inch Meatstick got me more than a few meals this winter.

January 15, 2017 at 7:41 am #1665537What did you guys dislike about your Jiffys? I got the pro 44 this year and have used it 12-14 times so far with no complaints. But ya for your situation id go electric, probably milwaukee with a k-drill.
January 10, 2017 at 3:24 am #1664003I usually order it directly from their website. I was just at fleet farm and noticed they had it.
December 23, 2016 at 6:01 am #1659225Id start in the hole in the weedy bay farthest to the east, else the end of the nipple of deep water that extends into that same bay.
December 1, 2016 at 12:38 pm #1654029Yep, the originals are 39.99 and the specialty ones are usually 44.99 to 54.99. Inflation is a B*&$#!
November 19, 2016 at 4:12 pm #1651485I bought an Eskimo hc 40 a few days ago at Fleet. Paid 425 but they had a 10 percent gift card with all purchases over 30 bucks. So I got a gift card for 42.50. I look at is as buy an auger, get 42 bucks in free tackle lol. Still waiting to try it out on ice, but after adding the 4 stroke oil and screwing on the propane it started on third pull right outta the box. I played with it a few times after and it always starts on the 1st or 2nd pull. Very happy with the auger. No more priming, choking, leaking gas or mixing gas for me.
March 19, 2016 at 2:50 am #1607808Don’t think my set up will be the best for pulling double 10’s, but definitely grabbing a couple 8’s. With the suicks, why weighted? What are the advantages and disadvantages between weighted and un-weighted.
March 18, 2016 at 2:26 pm #1607718Well after much research and conversations with friends that musky fish I purchased an Okuma evx musky rod, 8′ 6″ heavy power rated for 2-8oz with a Daiwa lexa 300 HL. Thanks for everyone’s help and opinions, this website is truly a great resource. I also purchased a few starter baits. A tin-buck chart/black buchertail as well as a tinbuck 2 in orange and black. Also a shallowraider in chart/pikey, depthraider in perch, and a topraider in baby mallard. Being originally from Eagle River I had to support my fellow Eagle River native, Mr. Bucher lol. Any other recommendations for a few good starter baits? Thinking a bulldawg/medusa type bait. I’m also in the market for a net, I will mostly be fishing the Wisconsin river system in the central Wisconsin area out of a 14 ft aluminum v-hull so something not overly huge would be ideal. Thanks again for all the help.
March 2, 2016 at 11:06 pm #1603873thanks for all the input guys! Love this site. As this will be my first baitcasting combo i was leaning towards a left handed reel. seems this will be an easier transition since im use to throwing with my right and winding with my left. I never quite understood why baitcaster guys switched hands? Am I wrong in wanting to go lefty? And yes I looked at the lexa 400H with the lower gear setting but its not available lefty
March 2, 2016 at 10:22 am #1603674Thanks for the heads up on the okuma. The more I research the more Im leeaning towards the lexa 300 I see alot of salt water guys using them for tarpon and we all know how hard saltwater guys are on gear. They are a little less expensive, $200 new. and they come in a 6.3 or 7.1 ratio. I’m guessing a 6.3 would be a little better for all around use?
March 2, 2016 at 9:04 am #1603643Thanks for the feedback! I have been hearing lots of good things about the curado.
January 26, 2016 at 3:44 pm #1595685I was also eyeing up a chipper lite, please post a lil review with your opinion on it.
January 25, 2016 at 12:27 am #1595113The Eskimo does look pretty sweet. Just the 32 pounds in my main concern. I know it’d be ok, my old jiffy has to be a lil heavier then that. But I used a friends nils that weighs 24 and it was so much nicer carrying it around all day… but there’s no way I’m forking over 600 bucks for a nils. I could get that chipper lite and an lx3 for that ☺
