Depends where you live. I live on lake of the woods, so a snowcat is the best choice. You can use the trails, and is much safer for crossing cracks.

However, still in search of the elusive 60hp tiller. I ran into a pretty good deal on a 50hp Yamaha.

Are you looking for used or new? Yamaha makes a 60hp.

a sunflower of some type is the only way to go, at least where i am and 40 below is not unheard of. i use the tank mounts. they still break though, don’t leave them on the tank at 50 mph behind a snocat wrapped in a sweatshirt is a much better idea

I use the HABITAT boxes from frabill and their bedding. Important things to keep in mind are temperature, moisture content, not to overcrowd, sort periodically to remove dead ones, change bedding if necessary, and add food if necessary.

I usually only keep a about 400 or so around at at time, so this way might not be practical for you, i guess you would need ten to twelve of these size containers. You probally could make your own containers on a larger scale using some wood and styrofoam sheets if you have a basement or cellar that stays at the proper temperature. I use an old refrigerator or most of the time my basement floor maintains a good temp.

How have you tried in the past? Make sure containers are of a porous material like wood or styrofoam, and aren’t to deep.

I was told when I bought my yamaha to always make sure its primed before you try starting it or something with the efi will get burned out, i don’t know what exactly.

In other words, it would be a good idea to never try starting a yamaha efi with an empty filter and unprimed line.

Beaver Creek, Burwash Landing, Carcross, Carmacks, Elsa, Faro, Haines Junction, Keno City, Marsh Lake, Mayo, Mount Lorne, Old Crow, Pelly Crossing, Ross River, Teslin, Watson Lake and Whitehorse are other names of towns in the Yukon Territory besides Dawson City.

I think Whitehorse would be a good strong name, or Haines, maybe Pelly.

If i could pick any rod i wanted for vertical jigging, that would be it. I don’t think there is a better one out there than that rod in GLX, happy birthday and a merry christmas

I got a new strikemaster mag2000 10″ auger for xmas from santa and after getting it and putting it together, I noticed that the handle was broke and also the choke lever. I contacted strikemaster through email and they are going to fix everything for me for free. all I have to do is just go down and drop it off and they will take care of it. I can’t say anything but awsome!!

You know what would be even better? if they made augers with handles that didn’t break so easy

If the fish are hitting good they work, if they are mouthing the bait a little and not taking it right away, real live works better in my opinion.

I have a pair of the original mittens and they are great…as long as they are not near water or get wet. They aren’t even a little water-resistant, and when they get wet they will take over a day to dry out on their own.

The way they soak up water they would probally make a good shammy.

Staring with my very first pet peave, especially in small shallow bays,(2-5 foot deep and about half the size of a football field or smaller)…. Leave the power auger at home. Every single time this year and in the past that we have used a power auger fishing has been very slow and finicky or took a long time afterword to get going. The most telling is when in the middle of a great bite I or someone else has used the power auger even for just 2 or three holes and the bite shut off completely or we went instantly to grab and drops. I mean almost everytime. I have a very bad neck and upper back so I would perfer a power auger, but I also need ,especially when guiding, to maximize the catch so I am very aware of things that hurt our bite.

I have been told that power augers actually make less noise under water because they can cut through quicker, the noise from the engine underwater is actually minimal. If its true or not i don’t know. Your experiences could just be coincidence.

try using a ‘quick-strike’ rig of some sort. I use a small treble on steel wire with a tiny spinner blade on it that makes the treble hooks legal for minnesota. You want to set the hook while the fish is moving, hence the term quick-strike, it reduces swallowed hooks as well. There are many different types of quick-strike rigs out there, or you can make your own, make sure they are legal for use in the state your fishing in however.

Heres a link to the DECEMBER 06 IN-FISHERMAN QUICK-STRIKE RIGGING ARTICLE

Very good information, notice there is 4 pages to go through. Good Luck.

Frabill Big Kahuna Power Catch. I don’t think they are as expensive as the price they have listed, pretty sure they are closer to $100, at least that is what i paid.
