Other than that i can attest to SM customer service… I bought a lazer last year about this time and the rubber cord that holds the cover on broke 2nd or third day out. so I e-mailed them on friday night and called monday morning. Well lo and behold I had 2 separate deliveries of new bands at my house one on tuesdayand one on wednesday…. they were too good in my opinion. Did i mention they were both sent by private courier service…. unreal

The white bass(I’m assuming you are talking about white bass, lots of people here call them stripers as well) here in NE illinois love a glow diamond jig with at least three spikes dangling from the hook….

These batteries are SLA (sealed lead acid) They have no memory. They are not like Ni-cads Ni-mhs. most of the time if you are having issues it is with the charger not the Batt. that said batteries do go bad… just by a new name brand from a battery store and you should be OK,,,, That of cours is if your charger is good……

I was always under the impression that one is good as the other. Till a couple weeks ago I had found fish and they wouldn’t commit on my waxxies. So i sent down some plastics and landed a few fish pretty fast…. then a russian guy came buy had one fish in his bucket and asked if he could drill a hole pretty close by… I was feeling pretty good just nailin 5 fish on plasticks and I’m a nice guy, I like to think so anyway so i said O.K.. Next thing I know 30 mins later he had 5 fish and so did I. then an hour later he had 15 fish and I still had 5….. WTF…. Can’t blame him tho he was usind a european stick with a kiddy reel and spikes…. I was out matched….. Needless to say I’ve been using spikes on that lake ever since with great success. So moral to the story is never not let somebody fish nearby cuz you could learn something….. and also never underestimate the difference in your presentation…. even if your marcum is telling you they are there…. doesn’t mean there is not a better way to put those fish on the ice….

the vx-1p only comes with a year warranty, it also doesn’t have three led true color, it’s soft case leaves a lot to be desired compared to the the lx series, and it does not come with the nice 3 stage charger and battery monitor. So if you are considering a flasher know this a vx-1 for $299 does everything a Fl18 will do for $449.95 and more. but for an extra $50 it is a no brainer to go with the lx-3tc. That is if you can afford it. Remember to get a digital bottom zoom it costs at best 400 bucks for a 400 watt vex. for $299 you get optical bottom zoom on a marcum and you don’t have to buy any suppression cables for extra $$$$$$. This is why more power + better performance no matter what vex says. With more power you can have a true zero gain not jack it up from the get go and then sell band aids to suppress it down the road…. Sorry if this is too much info but i researched for weeks before i chose marcum and there is a lot of info out there to sift thru and if I could have just had somebody put it all in lay mens terms i coulda chose sooner.

disclaimer: I do not work or in any way am affiliated with marcum or versa electronics…..

Oh yeah I’ll wait. It does have a 2yr warranty and i’ve already got to test the customer service which was stellar so no worries here, if nobody has a quick fix.

It goes back and forth in normal mode i haven’t been using the zoom feature the last couple times out. I too am not sure if this is normal. I don’t think i noticed it when i first started using it. but have noticed it since I’ve been in deeper water like 12-13 ft. I’m sure somebody here will enlighten us…I hope…

Welcome to the website. I fish the Mississippi River a bunch in the summer months and catch a lot of whites. I’ve just never done it in the winter. I bet they’d be a hoot on light tackle.

Oh yeah lots of fun. Also a lot better tasting thru the ice.
