I agree on fishing a heavily weeded lake for walleye. Fishing from 16 feet of water all the way to shallow near shore or an island. Actually showing methods to avoid snagging or at least how to keep your bait or lure in the strike zone instead of reeling in all the time to clear weeds.

I’m interested. Do you have a receipt for the new foot pedal? Was wondering how old brand new is? Have you replaced the magnets in the motor? If so when?

Just trying to determine value since it looks like you pulled off your boat already.

Don’t be afraid to look for them 30 feet down either. The bite is a very short window as the sun goes down is what I’ve noticed.

Thanks guys for the help. Actually ended up on pool 2 launching under 494. We picked up 6 sauger 14 to 19 fishing 7am to 10 am. We were trolling raps. All were caught in main channel. No luck along rap or wingdams.

Had a great morning on Wednesday with Chris and a buddy of mine out on the river. We fished from 6am to 11:30am. Chris did a great job about talking about where we were going to fish, the method and why. He even talked about how things change throughout the season. Also picked up tips to try in the metro.

Got to his first spot and never left it. Walleyes were plentiful and even caught a couple other fish to make it multiple species! We boated enough walleye to run out of bait! Not Chris’s fault that we ran out – he went a bit over on time due to all the fun! Which was appreciated of him! He was very attentive of all lines being run and totally maximized the number of live poles as bait or rigs needed to be replaced. Even at times when we had doubles and triples going.

It was about us catching the fish not him!

I highly recommend him for a fun and productive outing. Hope to do it again next year!

By the way James, he knows you from the tv show not the Skeeter! But thanks for the awesome tip on him!

All the above. There is a ton of info on this site. Read some of the older posts and watch the video’s on this site in regards to rivers. Priceless information.

I sure will! Any chance of doing a show next season on a metro lake such as Minnetonka?

I need to add that I will be shore fishing if I don’t find a guide. I’ve also heard that late July is a bad time for River Walleye on the St.Louis – is that true?

I prefer to fish the west side of the lake (using the narrows as the split), but have never caught an eye on the west side. They always come from the east side. Does anyone get them on the west side? Not asking for any specific spots.

Lots of luck – I’m glad you feel that I missed the mark. I’m going to keep pounding Tonka until I do lock in better on patterns. It’s just too convenient to not fish it. I’m only 5 minutes from popping my boat in the water. Consider this an open invite to join me out on Tonka for some fall fishing if you get the itch.

As far as size of fish – they are fatties. I have caught my pb on tonka just shy of 30″

The bite on tonka is nothing like what you described on mille lacs. There some eyes in tonka, but they are hard to find. There is normally a 5 to 20 minute window that it turns on and hopefully one of the 3 people in your boat gets one for the night. On very rare nights there are more then one caught, but going home without any eyes is far more likely on tonka. Probably not what you wanted to hear.

No. That will not charge the battery. You could run a charger to it that takes power from the trailer lights, but it probably will shorten the life of the battery due to short charging. Better off taking it out and giving it a full charge from time to time.

As fisherman – we might be a little biased on our opinions of the tuna fleet. I know I am – who need the wake they create!

So according to the article the 2009 should have detailed contour mapping. Anyone have an idea on how I can get that reloaded?
