Sounds like you really have to punch those weeds in order to get the fish to bite. Withot a good sonar, how do you find deep weedlines?

football jigs on secondary points is producing right now.
What would you consider secondary point? And steep break lines or slow break lines?
wow after reading that article I now know who he is. he helped me pull my sled back to the parking lot right at dark. he than drove back out to the lake, his go-cart is not that heavy he was able to lift it and turn it around like it was very light. with that said the ice is not safe at all. put two or three guys together and you would probably weigh more than that go-cart. you know we all say clear ice is good ice, but when I was out there were many areas where the ice was honey combed due to the warm weather. so even though we have like 6 to 7 inch of ice its still not safe yet.
prayers go to him and hope he is fine now. be careful out there guys.
Are the swamps frozen yet. And have all the roostser been killed yet. Just wondering, last year we were out around this time of the year and all we saw is hens.
sounds great you guys, i cant wait to try. thanks for all the info, this is why i love you all, and this site.
so i would also really like to stop by gull lake too. where is this sportland bait shop. or, where can i access the lake.
thanks you guys, i guess my friend was wrong about lake trout, what he probably meant was trout in general.
went to linwood the other day, what was funny was, we went to the point, caught nothing, did not even mark a fish. went to the flats, found nothing too. than decided to head back to the launch and fish with the crowds. hoping to catch a few pannies. we had pannie gears, but that evening, we caught nothing but northerns. lost all my gill pills with my spoons due to the northerns. the trick was keeping the fat head alive, and than just letting it sit on the jig.
you know what, thanlks you guys, i guess i made a mistake and was just too angry. but i’ll give him another shot at this training thing.
like i said in my other post, its 4 to 6 inch in a lot of area. but in some area where there is alot of snow, the ice is only 2 inch. and beleive me the snow is thick in these areas. i was walking by and noticed some holes drilled there. the ice started to crack as soon as i came close. so be carefull. avoid the slushy spots. and if you do go out, be careful not to take a wheeler out yet. thats my reccomendations because there is just too much snow. and you cant tell where these spots are unless you drill.
thank you who ever you are… and we all should learn from the guy…
hey ferny, thanks for the shack, i used it so much it broke on me. the tarp tore, and the wood rotted. so i end up throwing it away.
which game farms would you guys reccomend, i am short of money, but am willing to pay for the dogs training.
thanks to all of you who understand what i meant by not blaming one single race. suzuki, i understand your point and concern too. dont get mad or angry, every issue is still an issue to be dealt with. i have read through your post and will try my best to help teach other hmong hunters too, so that we all can work together to preserve our resources. so dont get angry. the last thing i want from this is anger from people.
by vehicle traffic you mean small cars, or just ATV and snowmobile, cause i think its too early for cars.
and by the way, how many of you actually frag a otter ice house or similar out to the lakes. cause i just bought one and is really wondering if i should attempt it. that thing is 80 pounds. with added auger and bucket i’m looking at 100 pounds.
i was thinking of hitting centerville and peltier first too. but man, that lake is too big for fragging an ice house out and back. maybe a smaller lake would do for now.
sure is quiet, i wonder if the ice is not ready yet, or what. i thought there would be tons of people out fishing already. maybe everyone is holding back because of the snow. have you guys seen anybody fishing.
ok very dumb question, who is the queens. sorry guys, not a big football guy but i love the sport.
ok so first of all i think this post should be a sticky just ffor ice reports so people will get informed. thats my oppinion, and second of all, has anybody checked the ice in centerville, or tried to fish it. its usually a first ice fishing lake for many anglers, so i’m assuming there are already people out there.
ok so i found some on craigslist. alot of kids are selling them. look around, you’ll find cheap rollers or scrubs.
ok, first of all i want to say, i’m a hmong hunter too. second of all, i know that hmong people are causing the decrease in the squirrel population, why do i say this, because i have been squirrel hunting ever since i was kid. and trust me the squirrel population has gone down. but one thing that many of you dont realize is, most of us hmong hunters follow the regulations. i know some poeple dont, and shame on them. but you cant just blame us, we are following regulations. and its only in the public hunting land, in private land squirrels are growing. so why does it seem like the hmong hunters are killing all the squirrels. we are not, we are just limited, the same argument goes to walleye hunters. many go out and catch there limit of walleye and go back the next day, they are doing that within regulations. so if the regulations are not doing its job by controlling the population, change it for everyones sake, but dont blame people. heck the most squirrels i ever get hunting in a day is 4 if i’m lucky, so reduce bag limit if thats what makes everyone happy. but once again dont blame anybody, especially the hmong hunters. when you do that it only causes anger and frustration. better education would be the best way around, and i belive in this, being a modern hunter i am always trying my best to educate the older hmong hunters too, and they are learning fast, and they never try to do anything illegal, ounce again, stop blaming us the hmong community, we are all american hunters here, just because we choose to hunt squirrels and not pheasent, or grouse, does not make us any more guilty than the rest of any of you. and its squirrel hunting is a sport for everyone. and thanks to all of you who understand what i am saying, its important to closes the gap between culture and not make it bigger. i know the gap is getting smaller over the years i have been out, but blaming people is not the answer. so thanks to all of you who understand.
good post, i understand that some of the people who cross the line are people who are ignorant of the laws, or simply cant read the signs. i know this because i have friends who dont read english that well and somehow manage to get a boat. anyways, i’ll help spread the word too. and if any of you guys see any hmong guys especially trying to cross, tell them about the new rule, and these guys can get offended if you speak to loud at them. but i’ll help out with the hmong community too, especially those who dont speak english too well.
i caught it in Iowa, on the des moines river. there were alot of them actually, you see people snagging them accidently all the time. some people keep them and eat them too. they said it task very good, no bones to bother with. i through that one away, i did not wanna release it back into the river.
