We just stayed at the Super 8 in Savana. They have a few electrical hookups in the parking lot.

    Randy,

Do you powder coat or air brush? I have a hard time keeping paint on blades.

    Thanks, John

Neil, good to hear from you. My boat just returned home from pool 8 so I will be starting in down here. Haven’t been on this pool since the first of April. Don’t know about this weekend but definitely next weekend. Haven’t heard of much off of the Illinois yet but if I do maybe we will have to take a trip there again.

I use both all the time. The remote to use the ipilot features and the foot peddle for steering when I am in that end of the boat. If not I steer with the remote.

Lake Bemidji for walleyes and northern. Make a day trip up to Red Lake while you are there also. Where will you target smallies?

I have the Navionics chip and it has Lake of the Woods and the Winnipeg River on it. We fish the Winnepeg near Whitedog.

I saw the diagram for both units. The diagram for the HDS has the yellow going no where. The diagram for the structure scan has the black to negative, the red to a fuse then to positive, and the yellow to a switch then positive. If I am understanding you correctly, the yellow from the HDS connects to the yellow from the structure scan and when you power on the HDS, the structure scan comes on also. When you turn the HDS off the structure scan powers down.

We fish that system out of KCR. We have been there since 1982 or 83. We are at the bottom of the river but we do fish as far north as Haley’s bay. Lots of great walleye, northern, and smallmouth fishing when we are there in June. I know that in the middle of September the fishing is still good, just deeper. We spend most of the time in Swan or Scott but that may be too far south for you. We see alot of Tetu boats but not many from Caribou falls.

I do run the advanced and cruise control at the same time. In rough water I will stay in the same direction and at the same speed. However the steering does pivot back and forth about 10 to 20 degrees in rough water. It moves at the top of the wave and at the bottom of the wave. Does the same when a boat wake hits.

Mine seems to do that in big waves but works fine in calm and on choppy water. I think that if it gets out of level it searches more. Let me know what you find out.

I will also be up for the first time on Lake Pepin. Leaving Wednesday. Will be fishing for walleyes mainly but would also like to try some crappies. Any suggestions on the crappies?

    Thanks

I have been trolling as fast as 3.5mph going up and over 4 mph going across and down. Have not had anything blow up that did not have weeds on it All my fish in the last week or 2 have been between 2.0 and 2.2mph going upstream or cutting across, have not boated anything but sheephead going downstream.

They pulled the dam up some today and the ice above is starting to going thru now. Lots of big chunks of ice flowing now. River is at 7.00 and they are expecting it to be 8.6 to 8.8 in the morning.

No ice at the ramp in New Boston or below the dam today. There is ice above the dam and rising waters may push it over this weekend so there may be ice in the flow then, but none today. 1 boat fishing below the dam today.

Neil, Didn’t mean to upset you. I saw the guy from Arkansas net a 5-6 pound walleye sunday. Also netted 4 others. All were released quickly and swam off. I agree that the fishing has been very slow for this time of year, but I think they are now starting to make a move. The reason I think is water temps. In the late 70s and early 80s the bite would start in mid to late October. The temps have been stable for several weeks and should start falling soon I hope. I also agree that there are too many nets but I don’t believe that is the major reason for the slow fishing, just one small part. The increase in Commorant and Pelican numbers hurts too. Look at Leech Lake for the last 10 years.
