I eat a ton of popcorn, At least a handful a day. Air popped, Light butter, and some sea salt. Make a few gallon ziplock bags every week for the family.

Second would be beef sticks. Always grab them on the way into work, or have them on hand at the house.

What style hub are you running? Those four bolt holes should make it really easy to adapt over to a hub mount like the clam lock, or eskimo e hub. If I had it in hand I could whip something up on the 3d printer within a few hours.

I Agree, this isnt a warranty. At least not for Garmin. Ever wonder why companies dont honor warranties? Or become a pain to deal with about warranties, adding procedures, wait times, etc…..

    Hey guys,
I have a brand new LVS34 I recently picked up with my first time using it this past weekend. I loved it for the 1 single day I was able to use it. I had my bag strap break, and evrything land on the transducer/pole. How were you guys able to contact Garmin to inquire about warranty? Did you have to go through a Garmin dealer or is there an online form to fill out? I can’t afford to go out and buy a new one as this was my grad gift to myself and could barely afford this setup lol. Thanks for any future help!

Grab a ketch brand bumpboard, and once you get it fill the voids on the back side with great stuff foam. Works great for measuring the thickness, and if it slips out of your hand the foam keeps it topside. Came up with that when the kids were little, saved it a handful of times from disappearing to the depths.

The T bros noodle is the OG, was the first real noodle tip blank. DH and TUCR both came out a few years later. THe DH blank is great, super stiff backbone with a soft tip. IF your looking for blanks, the BK noodle blank is the best bang for buck blank. I think they are currently $9 each and they are almost exactly the same as the Tbros and DH options.

Small spoons and large tungsten, I would go with the Della bay tip dip blank. Slightly stiffer, and more of a parabolic bend than a Noodle tip. But will handle those smaller spoons and 5mm tungsten really well.

Id run 4 rods total, 2 of each style.

2 – 38″ MH with a fast or moderate action, Pair these with big rattle baits like stated above, Most likely 8lb flouro or braid with a flouro leader, and a 1000 or 2500 reel.

2 – 38″ M or ML with a fast action, Pair this with more finess style baits like jig and plastics, larger (1/4 & 3/8 oz) spoons etc. for sure 8lb flouro and a 1000 or 2500 reel.

These are my go to setups be it Mille Lacs, Red, winni, or local pot holes. I like to have two of each with diferent presentations rigged and ready with the favorites, and a decent size reel with a smooth drag to work the fish. Shimano or Daiwa recommended.

Why not just give the kid 5 20’s? 100 bucks is 100 bucks?

I mainly fish the north end of the lake, And always have good luck going out of red door. I would suggest them. Good road system, and plenty of area to get away. Id drop the house on either the first or second roads, which generally follow the breaklines, then Run portys out on the flats during the day.

Im going to have a reply that most people wont like. Regs is ten feet. We all pay tax dollars, and have the same access to the water. Ill use an open hole if its in the area I want to try. But, I will never get mad if someone does the same, I invite conversation, and also enjoy sharing knowledge. More than once I have had guys Try and fish around holes I have drilled, Them being nice and not wanting to crowd me. My reply everytime is “come on over and check these ones, I can only fish two at a time!”

Moral of my post – Just be nice and make new friends if you can! Ive gained some great spots, just being nice and having conversations with others on the lake.

I think the way you are setting it up is fine, Only thing I would maybe add would be to grab one of the large clam milk crates, stand it on end, put the FFS in it and put the heater on top. Stack them.

Best way would be to drill the holes rental shack style like you would see on lake of the woods. All in one line down the center. Personally Id do 4 holes in a line down the center for the live scope and jigging rods, and then do 1 hole in each corner for a rattle reel or deadstick set up. This way you can all utilize the live sonar but still run 2 lines.

Try it with an 1/8 oz spoon now. You wont be disappointed. I have two of them built that way. Great jigging rod for aggressive panfish and a pinhead spoon or tikka flash.

I ran a 2600 for three years, Big buddy on high will have you in a tshirt, I grabed a folding foot stool from Harbor and set it on that, dead center in the front of the shack otherwise it will melt the snow in front of it. Also keeps snow from sticking to it and getting water in the sled at the end of the day.

I drive a 15 Tundra with the 5.7L, wife has a 15 4runner. I purchased my tundra in 17, all ive put into it is oil changes and tires and 100K service, still running the brake pads that came on it with 1/4 pad left at 125000 miles. Wife 4runner was a salvage out of colorado, so we got a steal on it. Hers is the same, oil changes, tires, 100k service, and an AC hose that wasnt fixed during the rebuild.

My oldest turns 16 next may, plan is to buy the wife one of the new landcruisers, and give the oldest the 4 runner. Then when the youngest turns 16 in 4 years, he will get the tundra and Ill be buying the newest gen tundra.

As a convert from the big 3, all 3 toyotas Ive owned in my life has surpassed any expectation I have had for them. Including a 350k mile 89 toyota pickup that is still on the road!

I only have a 10 inch auger and in the description it says the base is only 10 inches so I didn’t know if it would fit over the hole or not

Find a friend with a 3D printer and have them print an extension or wings for the base. You could even cut down a yardstick and screw it to the plate to span the hole? Shouldnt be too bad to remedy.

Watching videos on mega 2 and eagle 9, I dont think garmin needs to release anything anytime soon. Still a better product. Even looking at mega 2, The cost alone is nuts, and half their customer base that already runs mega 1 will have to start from scratch. Yeah the black box is a pain and heavy, but you can get into Garmin livescope for sub 2k for a used unit, or sub 3k for brand new. If pricing is correct on Mega 2 (going off a few youtube videos and their comment section) it looked like 2K just for the screen.

If your in the neighborhood, its worth the stop. This show is my favorite show to work. Smaller show, but huge turnout every year and growing. Most of the big names are there minus a few, with really good deals like the st paul show. Dakota Angler does a great job, I believe James is giving a seminar there this year as well.

Ekruger01: Late last year after the Nokomis video came out I started modding lures with bladed trebles, feather trebles, glow trebles…tipped with impulse minnow heads, clam minnow heads, some <em class=”ido-tag-em”>perch eyes from various companies. Can’t wait to use those lures this year.

Corey Bechtold Got me started on modifying plastics and presentations years ago. Bladed trebles, beaded trebles, Plastics etc are a huge staple in my tackle box. Kind of like a double minnow setup facing opposite directions on a deadstick!

Been trying to find a good artist south of the metro to have a few new ones done. The wife wants to get a few as well. Most of mine are over 15 years old and could use a touch up. Seems like most places are appointment only now days and not walk in. Im terrible at scheduling things and forgetting about it so I havent taken the time.

I guess I must be the exception. My kid rode BMX until he was ten, around then he showed interest in dirtbikes, I was already prepared and had a 110 fourstroke semi auto in mind. We picked it up and I taught him how to ride. He lost interest in 6 months or so, so I sold it. A short while later he asked for another one, I told him it needed to be a clutch bike and we picked up a 125. He loves it. And I get to rip around the neighborhood with him and have quality time with him doing something we both like. He also rides our grom around with the neighbor kids.

Growing up I cannot remember a time where my old man didnt have some sort of harley or cruiser around, I had dirtbikes, switched to sport bikes at 18, and now ride a harley as much as I can. Sure, people are dumb and get distracted, Ive had close calls, but part of riding is being aware and watching everything around you. When my kid reaches the age where he wants a harley or sportbike, ill make him take an MSF class, insure it, help him finance it, and drive him to purchase it. Ive pounded it into his head the be vigilant and respect the machine.

Being a dad has its “oh crap” moments, but in the end Id rather cheer him on and teach him the safe way to do things than have his know it all evil knieval friends teach him.

    This^^

Like I mentioned IF people take care of them and IF the dealer keeps the interval reasonable then yes they stand a better chance of survival. You said you work in the industry so you know as well as I that most people don’t get service when they should, it happens when it fits there schedule. For the record I do agree with you, just see failures to often.

Thats the good part about the side of the industry im in. These guys care more about their car than their children or spouse, ) so in my case, the customers actually do take care of them!

I’m not talking racing. I’m talking Power and LONGEVITY. There is a reason engines in racing are torn down and refreshed after almost every race. The supercharger and turbos cause issues with long lasting durability. JMO and not looking for an argument.

even on that note, theres a 69 Camaro in my parking lot that has 90K miles on a twin turbo crate LS, Has done power tours, proving grounds, drag runs, autocross, you name it. Thats more miles than my 15 tundra has, on a 4 year old motor. As long as people maintain their vehicle they shouldnt have issues. Just like an NA motor, do your oil changes and services and the engine will take care of you most of the time. Freak instances happen, but no reason to fear them or assume that all of them are bad if you hear a story about 1 or 2 that are bad.

I work in the automotive industry and am a self proclaimed gearhead. I am also a diehard toyota guy. The new turbos do not scare me away one bit. My field is aftermarket hotrod serpentine drives, I get hundreds of calls a month from customers looking for LS drive systems to go with their turbos setups. Guys have been racing with turbos for years, and recently it is a hot trend in the harley and motorcycle industry to add turbos as well. Lets not forget that every item we buy is most likely trucked in with a turbo driven diesel engine and has been for 20+ years.

“There is no replacement for displacesment.” I’ll put a twin turbo LS up against a built NA LS any day of the week and bet a months wages on it.

The power addition specifically in the Toyotas for me is a welcome change, Better MPG, and more power is the exact reason I will be trading up on our 15 4runner that has the power of a slug, to the new offering, as well as trading up my 15 tundra in the coming months.

I stopped a bunch of leaks on our 14ft portage boat (treated poorly, beat to hell) by painting the leaking rivets with “Gluvit”

It worked like a charm. Very good product.

Gluvit works great, Ive remodeled a handful of old “tin” lunds using it.

My Shimano siennas the black and red ones suck. They definitely are not the same as they used to be.

Order some carbontex washers and they will be just like the old ones. I have about 20 of the 500’s half new ones, half old ones.

To the OP, the Piscifun reels I got were ok at best. ended up switching to the diawa qz series. Run 750’s on most of my panfish rigs open and hard water. Still run a mix of saharas and tatulas on my walleye/big fish gear.
