I don’t have a medium with a fast tip, but I have an Elliot Evolution 44L with a fast tip and it is my absolute
favorite small spoon rod for perch and Winnebago sized walleye.

My dad gave me the rifle I shot my first buck with one Christmas. Probably 20-25 years after that day. It was the only deer I ever shot with it and carried it only 1 other time. It’s a Remington model 141 in 30 Remington.

A buddy and I were just talking about this today. It seems that the ole sweet spot / $100 price point just doesn’t get you what it once did. Just like everything else. Saying that I have a couple of the Daiwa Fuego reels in the 3000 size. The are both very smooth and have nice drags. I did have some issues with wind knots and braid when I first started using them, but stacked washers on the spindle changed the way the line loads and casts from the spool. That helped a ton and now they are really nice every day reels. I really like my old Shimano Symetres’ which used to fill the $100 price point well. I have a Nasci 300 gen 1 that is nice, but something about the foot of the reel that isn’t the most comfortable after using it for a while. Im not sure if the latest model has the same design. Now if you want to spend some $$$…. the Shimano Vanford is AWESOME!

Because all the cool kids do it was our first thought as well!

I guess i could maybe see its protection while netting, but I have had 3 boats over the past 18 years and cant think of a single time I damaged my cowling on the water while fishing. I could get on board with keeping bugs off trailering though. That flat-out sucks to get clean.

What year 2060 do you have? I just ordered a Drotto with the set-back attachment and haven’t installed it yet. I will leave it as-is if I don’t need the attachment.

I got it to loosen. Vice Grips did the trick.

I have 5 or 6 C-10’s. 3 lb Pline Flouroclear works great on them. They are great reels for Ice rods. I use them for panfish rods as well as my walleye rods. I took them all apart when new and cleaned the factory grease out of them and then re-lubed them. Love them.

A little tounge & cheek here for the IDO staff from a Wisconsin angler. Could we see a few episodes after the Minnesota opener which highlight some of the absolute best spots and bites in Minnesota? Maybe viewers will start traveling there in droves instead of to the Wisconsin spots that have literally experienced an explosion of fishing pressure since being highlighted over the years on the show? It’s a double edge sword. On one hand, its really cool seeing spots you fish on the show, but it sucks seeing the spots you used to fish flooded with guys following the TV bite. Not just an IDO issue as I think it is the best show on TV. I could say the same of the weekly Wisconsin shows.

A buddy was there today and he said he couldn’t believe how many Minnesota and Illinois plates were in the lot. What part of don’t travel don’t people understand? Thanks for traveling to Wisconsin and shutting down our back yard.

Thanks for the info on the ring of the lite flite. I tried again this morning and I am pretty sure that is happening with my drill. After further review my Home Depot Fuel 18 only has a torque rating of 500 lbs. Im wondering if I got the correct HD fuel tool if my problem would be solved? My other option is to grind the ring off the auger knowing that I will eventually smoke my light duty drill anyway?

Yes. Set to drill on 1. I can see marks on the shaft of the drill from the teeth on the chuck spinning and some very small pieces of metal getting shaved. Im going to play wirh it tomorrow in the rain

    Thanks guys,

I tore my reels down and removed all of the grease in them and then re-oiled the bearings. I left my reels sit out in the cold today for 4 hours at around 0 degrees and wha la…. golden. Thanks again for your help1

I got 2 BW and a Fusion this year and paired them with Okuma Ceymar c-10’s. (call me a copy-cat) Love the set ups. Love the handles and the smoothness of the C-10s. Going to switch out a bunch of my old reels with them for next year.

I have an 1880. I wound up shortening the 60″ rails just past the center support and capped the rail with a stainless insert. I then mounted a 24″ Berts track just ahead of the rear cleats. I backed the track with 1/4 aluminum stock under the gunnel. The 24″ track is nice as I can put a downrigger and two Berts holders on the same track. I have two holders on each rigger so I can stack each one. I run a Dipsey on the first Bert holder and run boards off of the front holders. I dont like the tube holders for walleye fishing so I use scotty holders with track adaptors for trolling for eyes. I use two track adaptors with extensions and I have my tallest extension mounted on the rail. I love my set up!

My 10 year old got this 29″ this morning on Green Bay. He’s been trying to break the 28″ magic number since he was 6. Up until today his biggest was 27 1/2.

Big Smallies are still showing up in Door County. Here is my best from Saturday. 4 lbs 10 oz. Fish were in a lot skinnier water than I would have thought yet.

Here’s a couple of Door County fish from yesterday. Caught 3 fish between 20″ and 21″ and a 19″. All post spawn. Deep edege of a off shore reef in the wind.

Well, good news. EZ Loader is the manufacturer of the trailer and they are replacing the entire axel even though it is out of warranty. The dealer I bought the boat from is putting the new one on at no charge. Bad thing is it will take a week to 10 days to get the new axel.

I will empty it out. The fenders are welded onto the trailer so not much I can do other than take it easy going there. The dealer I want to take it to is about 40 minuets away, but I have a closer one that is about 1/2 that so they may get the nod due to location.

Taking it to the closest dealer tomorrow to get it checked out. I bought it from a dealer 3 hours from my home so hoping the guys treat me right. It is not full of water and both sides look like this.

My boat is a 2008 WX1880. I bought it new in December of 2010 so I ran it all last year and about 5-10 trips this year. I honestly never noticed anything until this morning when trailering. I was on a rougher street and I could feel trailer jerking as the tires were hitting the fenders. I dont’ have a lot of weight in the boat. It has a F150 and a T-8 on it. Other than that just a regular load of gear in the front lockers. I looked at my trailer warranty and It is only good for 3 years of manufacture date which would have been March 2011. Or 3 months into my ownership. I have a feeling I am going to be on the losing end of this repair. I’ve attached a couple of pics showing what clearance I do have.

Are there springs somewhere that could be broken? I don’t see any leaf springs or anything so I am pretty much in the dark on how to fix this.
