Also from Eastern Iowa, everywhere I have been has been in the 3-5″ range. Not great but manageable. Snow last week made a slushy mess in some spots. Definitely still use caution. Check out the Iowa DNR website to get an idea of some public reports across the state too.

Scheels would definitely make it right. Had an Otter LED light kit I bought at the end of season. Only used them a few times and ice went out. The following season I got them back out and one was shorting out. Hadn’t quite been a year so I figured what the heck I’d try to see if they would do something about it. Stopped in and they replaced them with the new updated kit. The new kit was even on sale and they honored that price and actually owed me money back! It doesn’t get any better than that but I did have my receipt thankfully. Customer for life.

Congrats on your purchase! Sometimes simpler is better. Had a FL-20 before I got my LX-7. It was a great unit, easy to use, never had an issue with it. I’m sure you will enjoy it!

I’ve enjoyed my LX-7 over the past few years. Paired it with the lithium shuttle a couple years ago and like it even more. The weight difference is very noticeable. One of my favorite things is being able to customize the layout weather I want a traditional flasher, vertical graph, or traditional graph. You can use more than one at once which is great especially when it comes to using zoom features. Didn’t think I would use some of the features but I definitely do. I really like the bigger screen too. I do wish for the price there would be some gps capabilities. That would be the only reason I would maybe go to a Helix unit in the future but other than that I would recommend the unit!

Kinda wondered the same thing about the redesign with the big sales but I see now the sale prices are not quite half off anymore. Glad I got in on it when I did. Paid $145 for climate jacket and bibs now back up to $202. Still a good deal just not as good! waytogo

Between yesterday morning and last night the sizes available shrank quite a bit already. No surprise there get them while you can!

I can’t say enough good things about Scheels between their price match policy and customer service either. Had a lithiunm 40V price-matched which they were more than happy to do. Also had a problem with an Otter light kit that started shorting out. Less than a year old they replaced it with no questions asked for the new kit that came out this year. By far the best customer service and people I’ve dealt with. Customer for life. Unfortunately a lot of people don’t realize they will price match and go elsewhere.

We always hear about the issues more than we hear about good which is the case for many other situations too. It is frustrating when you spend that much you expect them to perform well don’t get me wrong but there is a lot of happy customers out there also. Been going on 4 years with my LX7 and shuttle no issues (knock on wood as Slabhunter said).

Got the lights in today and I love them to say the least. The dim feature is so nice. Ended up strapping my frabill light on the back of 1 seat for a sled light works pretty good!

Thanks guys I was leaning toward the bar above my head like a lot of people are doing but i’ll play with them once I get them installed and see. It’s nice you can add on to them too. I keep a milk crate in my tub so might start out with the battery in that and if I don’t like it will probably get the clam mount.

Same story in central, northeast Iowa. This year looked so promising with the record cold in November but guess that proves we shouldn’t count out chickens before they hatch. Been able to get out a few times (thankfully) but it’s still frustrating!

Love all my tuned up custom rods. Bullwhip and precision noodle for panfish. Fusion and precision for walleye personally. I’ll never forget the first time fishing with my first custom bullwhip. I knew from that moment i’d never go back to anything else. From better feel to customization these rods have a lot to offer.

3 years ago on a private pond in Northeast Iowa caught a 12″. State record is 12.9 (unreal). My good buddy caught a 11 3/4″ last year out of the same pond pictured below. A few years before that he pulled a 16″ crappie out and I pulled a 17.5″ out right after pictured below. Don’t catch a ton of fish at the pond but when we do you can plan on quality. Always a fun time.

Awhile back my buddy bought one off amazon 12,000 l.e.d. lumens, rechargeable, $25. I thought I’d wait to see how it worked needless to say I ordered one later that same week. Great battery life and works for any job around the house and tracking deer too! I haven’t found much brighter for headlamps than this.

Would have to agree with a couple others that have already responded. Don’t let the idea of no soft pack for the shuttle interfere with its effectiveness. I’m one that likes to do everything I can to protect my expensive gear too. From rod slicks to the Otter rod case I try to protect my investments as much as I can. As far as the shuttle it is very durable and IMO I think a soft pack would interfere negatively with my fishing. It’s a great unit and if taken care of and stored properly you should have no problem getting years of use out of it. I love the LX-7 on the shuttle and have had nothing but a positive experience with it waytogo

A new TUCR Fusion, lithium shuttle, and bro-sidestep thermal were my main purchases this year. Happy with them all so far and already looking forward to next season to use them again.

I had a problem with my first shuttle I bought through Reed’s so I ended up sending it back and getting a new one and just got in contact with them about registering it through the website. All they needed was proof of purchase receipt and they do the rest. It’s simple and painless don’t worry.

I also purchased the Bro Sidestep about a month ago on an end of the season sale. I’d have to agree with what everyone else has said so far. Roomy, warm, and one can manage to take it out on the ice and load/unload themselves with it being pretty light. Biggest thing like everyone else said is it does take time to get the hang of how to set it up. I was a bit frustrated at first but after a few times got the hang of it. Vertical wall makes it feel much bigger and allows you to fish longer poles a little more effectively. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase and love the side doors. One last piece of advice is take the removable windows out in really cold weather or they will crack! Good luck on your decision.

I have 2 bullwhips with EVA split grips and I like them. They are by far lighter IMO but yes, I did exactly what you said and wrapped with reel tape to not have the indentation. They hold up well if they are stored properly and taken care of. I also have a cork split grip precision noodle and really like that too. If it were up to me I couldn’t pick a favorite and like both styles with the split grips.

Won’t go without insulated. May be a bit more expensive at first but well worth it in the long run. For me it is night and day difference fishing out of one to another. If the budget permits I’d say no-brainer go insulated.

X2 on the Frabill picks. It’s nice that the picks are covered when not in use but easily there when pushed down on.

Love my LX-7 especially with the bigger screen. Ended up pairing it with a lithium shuttle and it has made it even more user-friendly. I’d definitely recommend finding one somewhere and just playing around with it see what you like.
