If you have a Honda it’s not a “will” it blow up but “when” the motor wasn’t designed to run in the position it is in on an ice auger. And the oil doesn’t get splashed up. Run it enought and it will die. From what I have been told honda is doing nothing about it. So cudos to strikemaster I will admit it took a little longer than I would have liked but in the end good things come to those who wait and the new Solo is perfect.

Strikemaster took care of it and sent a new Solo to replace the blown up honda. Sounded like this is a up and coming common problem with the Hondas.

On my SS I have to flip a switch to power on the SS. Could be as easy as finding the power switch to your SS.

I had a 2004 that I had bought new the thing was bullet proof and I beat the heck out of it for 3 years and over 100,000 miles. Only bad thing is my full size pick up got better gas mileage. Other than that I have no complaints.

I don’t like the tape idea, but I atleast have a name and some info to go off. If it comes down to it I will screw the tape ones down… I have found some now that you speak of with like a sheetrock anchor. I don’t like the anchor style as it will be solid black walnut I am fastening to.

Like anything it is depending on usage. My terrova would last about 3-4 months. but when I am fishing I basically run the TM all day in current, lots of button pushing. I have heard of guys geting a year+ out of em. I will change batteries when I hit the button and the motor dont respond unless pointed directly at it. I would sure think the guys with bigger glass boats that trail a lot better than a little tin boat would see more time on a battery. and yes the copilot I used to have never seen a new battery so I am not even sure how big the battery in there is but the ipilot has a 3v and the display probably plays a roll in drainage. thers my $.02

When I was at the Strikemaster service center recently and asked Jason C. what he recommended. His suggestion to me was to store the Honda wet with non-oxy gas in the tank.

Exactly what I was told as I picked up parts to fix a leaking carb.

Drain the tank then run the engine till it dies.
As it starts to sputter (running out of fuel) choke the engine till it stops on its own.

Don’t do this… Have done in the past and any non metal gaskets or o-rings in the carb dry out and you will have a gas leaking auger. Get a little bit of good non-oxygenated gas a little shot of seafoam. I usually will start mine a few times thru out the warm months.

urine poor management. There are many lakes in northern mn that get netted and none that get pi$$ pounded by anglers the way mille lacs does. Don’t get me wrong I am in no way for the netting durring spawn or the netting of 75000 pounds but then we the angler get 175000 pounds.

Does it tend to float more? Or how well does it sink when pitching lite jigs?

Went to fleet farm played with the rods they had there and also chatted with Dean Marshall and the outcome is 2 Avid 66mf rods. I can’t say enough good words about Dean as I emailed him on a sunday expecting to hear back Monday. Oh no, had disussion and sealed the deal on a sunday night. Great service from him!!
    Now onto the reel search
