If anyone wants to get out on Friday, let me know, I might be able to put you on some fish. You gotta bring the bait and the boat though.

Picked up 4 nice eater eyes, 2 smallies and 2 buffalo on the Cedar on Friday, fishing from shore, 7-8′ of water, firetiger mimic minnow.

Hey TonyP, shoot me an email if you want to explore some new waters around here. I know most of the Ponds/lakes around here fairly well.

Ive tried my usual spots on the Cedar for the last couple of weeks and cannot catch a thing but a few snagged quillbacks. Water is still high and very muddy with lots of junk still floating. Maybe by October it will be better

    WW,
Youve also got to include the West Fork of the Cedar, Snag creek, beaver creek, Winnebago river and numerous other medium and small creeks that empty into the Shell Rock above Cedar Falls. Its always 3-4′ higher below Washington Union through Waterloo.

I could prolly give you a hand and can prolly get some donations too. Have you talked to Walmart, Kmart or Hanks about maybe donating some fishing equipment or bait?

Its open behind cattle congress in Waterloo and down to where the crick dumps in. I’m gonna give it a few weeks yet though.

Theres bigger crappies in there, there just hard to come by. Ive managed about 5 over 10″ so far and one that went 14″ which I lost in the hole I’ll be out there on Tuesday afternoon, West of the boat ramp. Red F150, Eskimo QFII.

We have hit the Cedar a couple times in the past week and cant seem to find any walleyes. Tried everything we could but have only managed a 28″ Northern and a few snagged quillbacks.
Are they still real shallow or am I better off to go at night? Any help would be appreciated.

Im gonna have to agree that the fry your seeing are the stocked fish and not alot of natural reproduction takes place. Its my understanding that the stocked walleye are from the IGLs and Clear Lake and that the lake strains dont reproduce in rivers. Then again I could be wrong. Anyway, Ive caught more big walleyes right here in Waterloo than in any of the lakes in Iowa and Minnesota.

18″ 15′ 2-14″ 6 10-12″ smallies in the Waterloo area last thursday. They were hitting chartreuse twisters and #1 mepps spinners with the gold or fire tiger blade. Any deep holes or rip-rap banks held fish.

Well, you know how rumors spread around the bait shops in town. I caught an 8 pounder about that time out of the Cedar. Beautiful fish full of eggs. 8# test with a big chub fishing for northerns.

Just really started crow hunting this year with a buddy. We hunt along a creek bottom and use an electronic caller and 3-4 dozen decoys. We usually try to find a carcass of something and set some of the decoys right on top of it along with some ketchup for realism. Seems to really draw them in
