I plant my tomatoes on top of fish guts I put into the ground. They seem to produce really well each year. If you can find any sheep amnure or chicken crap, those would be your overall best fertilizers IMO.

Thank you for the very good read. We should all take time out of our busy lives to stop and really focus on what is important to us.
May 25, 2011 at 1:24 am #968755Had the surgery in November of ’05. I was late season deer hunting in January. I had the labrum tore in half. Recovery was supposed to be atleast 8 months but was golfing and fishing after 3. The day I had surgery I went out and brought 3 loads of wood back into the house. Maybe I am a tough sob but the pain dictated what I could and couldn’t do.
May 7, 2011 at 1:52 am #106033Try using AUS trees. I got 3 a few years ago and they are huge. I know a lot of people use them to establish shelter belts. These are very fast growing trees and should last at least 10 years until all of your others are established. PM me if you have questions on these. I have started growing a few for my folks to help one of there shelter belts.
April 9, 2011 at 1:20 am #955431B if I am not mistaken, I do believe they stocked quite a few northern in the area you were fishing.
April 2, 2011 at 12:27 am #103607Nebraska has a ton of public land. I would suggest heading out west towards the Pine Ridge area. You have both Mulies and whitetails. Great hunting and not too expensive.

I would take a hard look at Nebraska.
Mulies, Whitetails, and $5 tags for the youth.
Other than Florida, Nebraska is one of the most kid friendly states I know of.
Be safe and have fun!!

Best 5 bucks I have spent. Took my 10 YO out this year for late season. Saw some deer but he wasn’t comfortable with the shot so he passed. Still had a great time. Also the turkey tags are only $5 for youth.
February 4, 2011 at 12:29 am #933543There is plenty of ice out there right now Brian. 20+. Fishing is a bit slow but can be good at times.
December 16, 2010 at 1:39 am #97109Here is a video from one of the GF&P people in Nebraska. The guy was one of the big wigs in Nebraska stating “Lions don’t live in Nebraska” Hope you all enjoy. It is about 9 years ago when this took place but it is still very cool.
December 2, 2010 at 2:31 am #95238This buck was shot in Nebraska. There was also another one shot that wasa about the same size. 2 huge bucks.
Here is a link to the other buck
October 19, 2010 at 1:35 am #89069Rob I will be hunting the home place just north of Hoven. My parents own ground on the west side of swan lake and then a bunch more closer to Lowry. Heading up later this week.
April 1, 2010 at 9:48 pm #859848Very nice Bob. I will be up in that area this weekend, although I don’t know if I will get any fishing done.
February 16, 2010 at 9:56 pm #843041Thanks for all of the replys. I set out this year to catch a perch through the ice in central Nebraska. We don’t have a lot in this area. Any way I achieved my ice fishing goal this year. Here are a few pictures from today
February 9, 2010 at 2:36 am #76949We don’t have a whole lot of snows in my area yet. I have maybe seen 20 or 30 snows. We have 10-20,000 Canadas around here now. Let it warm up a bit and they will be here. I’ve got a bunch of feilds that I can hunt every day but on the other side of the road you can only hunt on certain days. I have never really targeted them.

Is that on the river? I’ve always wanted to hunt late season on the Platte! Never been able to find the right connections.
Let us know when the snows start to show up! Should only be a few weeks now.
No it not on the Platte but dang close. Actually this is a pond that I was ice fishing on last week and had a bunch of geese fly over. I was fishing out there the next day also and had the same thing happen. I thought I would get the decoys out the next day since the fishing wasn’t very good. The Platte is about 1/4 mile to the south of where I was hunting. One of our local waterfowl groups started some goose restorations on a couple of private pits and it has just blossomed. I set up between the river and one of the restoration sand pits. Where I was hunting is all public ground. Are you looking for a DYI or a pay to hunt. There is a ton of public river ground out here and it does not get utilized throughout the week. Weekends are a different story. I work evenings and get done around midnight and than get about 5-6 hours of sleep take the kids to school than off hunting or fishing everyday. I fish or hunt typically 4-5 times a week. I will let you guys know when the snows start flying. I don’t hunt them a lot because I don’t have the gear and I am usually still ice fishing, but that is coming to an abrupt end. We have had about 2 weeks of temps in the 40’s, so what was good ice has turned into honeycomb.
January 21, 2010 at 2:53 am #75711No that is a mossberg 935 I think. I picked it up really cheap at Cabelas.
January 13, 2010 at 2:39 am #75232Yes that is correct. Here is a link to it.

January 9, 2010 at 2:49 am #831253I love my X67c and use it both on the ice and from a boat. There is a learning curve to it since it has so many features with it. Go ahead and get on Youtube and type in X67c and see what you get. Tons of great info on there. I swear by mine and use it a bunch. Here are a couple of pics and a short video of how it works.
This is the split screen which allows you to focus on the bottom part of the water column
Here is a short video from a couple of weeks ago.January 8, 2010 at 3:44 am #74942here is the latest from the G & P

LINCOLN, Neb. – The new $5 youth turkey permits will be available when 2010 spring turkey hunting permits go on sale Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. Central Time, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. In the past, youth hunters paid the same price as adults for a turkey permit. The new low-cost permits are designed to attract more youth to turkey hunting opportunities.
Youth permits are for hunters who are under age 16 on the opening day of the youth archery season. All turkey hunters, except residents under age 16, require a Nebraska Habitat Stamp.
The 2010 permit prices, not including issuing fees, are: resident turkey, $23; resident youth turkey, $5; nonresident turkey, $90; nonresident youth turkey, $5.
The archery and youth archery hunting seasons are March 25-May 31. The youth shotgun season is April 10-May 31 and the shotgun season is April 17-May 31.
A spring turkey permit, as well as a spring youth turkey permit, allows a hunter to take turkeys with bow and arrow in the archery season and a shotgun in the shotgun season. A person may have up to three spring turkey permits. The bag limit is one male or bearded female turkey per permit.
December 30, 2009 at 4:03 pm #827949Ben I think we will finally break the 40 point mark. Cody Green could see some playing time tonight. I have to work tonight so I will DVR it and watch parts of it at work. GO BIG RED.
December 17, 2009 at 2:28 am #824032I am using the ice ducer. I too have put it on my boat this summer and it was great. One of the most versatile units around. Here is a picture from a couple of weeks ago while in the boat with the split screen.

Oh, and what is that disgusting green stuff off to the side? I’m not familiar with that…
That would be a spicy cabbage salsa that we get when we buy some Papusa here in town. They also put the on the fish tacos. Got love all of the authentic foods around here.
November 22, 2009 at 2:44 pm #817601I got the camera to use when taking the kids fishing but it wasn’t what I was wanting. I went with a lowrance x67c. I can use it on both hard and soft water. It has the flasher and also a graph. I have still been getting used to it but love it. My son also loved last year when ice fishing. We could watch our jig drop and watch the fish come up to meet it. It will increase your catch tremendously. That will keep the kids interested.
