July 2, 2006 at 4:48 pm #457808This may be a dumb question but i am looking at getting a lakemaster chip before we go to devils lake in ND and i was wondering if they make northern region chips for multiple states like the Navionics chips or are they for 1 state only? Thanks

I have been out 3 or 4 times the last couple weeks trying to find some crappies and just cant seem to get more than one or two each time out not sure what the deal is i thought it might be a tad bit early yet but i guess not. Congrats on the fish, they will be mighty tastyApril 29, 2006 at 5:42 pm #442077Mr.Twister,
Get ahold of Dan Laugesen at Laugesens Taxidermy here in Dubuque. He does an AWESOME job on fish and I have not seen a bad fish done by him. His work is by far better than anyone in the area from what i have seen and im sure he would be able to take care of you. Hope this helps
March 27, 2006 at 3:03 pm #433630Joe,
The way it sounds the bite was a little better on Sunday. I talked to a buddy of mine who fished a tournament sunday and he said the did much better than we did on saturday, they ended up weighing their five fish and he said they caught most of them where we got skunked the day before so it sounds like things picked up. Did you guys get checked by the DNR on Saturday?March 26, 2006 at 2:13 pm #433458Joe,
We were out yesterday in dubuque and had similiar luck, overall it was a slowww day. We had alot better luck on friday vertical jigging in the tailwater areas but saturday we decided to try some areas downriver with limited succcess pulling raps, vertical jigging and pulling three ways. Twice we thought we hooked into a couple nice eyes only for one of them to be about a 10 lb sheephead and one 6 lb cat. Hopefully next weekend will be better.March 15, 2006 at 2:00 pm #430197Fisheyes, the first two days we fish out of rocky reef on the bug humps i believe in about 30 fow. All of the perch were spitting up bloodworms and those hellgrammites i believe. The second day we move to another area straight out from eddys resort and got into some bigger fish which were spitting up smaller 2in perch.
March 14, 2006 at 8:34 pm #429923The pictures are jpg. format on my computer. Should i just copy and paste them directly from my comp or from snapfish? and do i add them directly into the post where the text box is or do i add them in the next part where it says, You may attach a file if you like….
March 14, 2006 at 8:05 pm #429912Sorry, for some reason i cant get the pictures to appear. Any tips?
March 3, 2006 at 11:21 pm #426467Oh man that doesnt look too promising. I was also kind of wondering what the conditions are like. I posted in another forum that me and two other buddies are heading up to mille lacs on March 8th – 13th for the first time and i was hoping to hear some better reports on the ice conditions. I was also wondering what part of the lake would you guys recommend driving out of that is close to some good perch areas, and what type of jigging spoons do u usually use up there. Im pumped i cant wait hopefully i will be luck enough to hook into one of these jumbos ive been seeing on here lately. Thanks
March 1, 2006 at 7:24 pm #425611Thanks alot for the help. I cant wait, we will be live next wednesday march 8 and will return on Sunday the 13th. Is there a certain part of the lake that produces more perch that others where we can get somewhat of a starting point? Any certain depths to look for and what are some of the popular jigging spoons you guys use for perch? Thanks guys, i will be sure to give a report of each day when we return
February 23, 2006 at 4:46 pm #423722Thanks again for the help guys. Looks like we will be up there from March 8-12th trying to get some of those mille lacs jumbos im seeing pictures of all the time I think we will go out of hunters and we will have a four wheeler just in case the ice isnt thick enough for a vehicle. I have never ice fished up there before so i was wondering what types of lures we should pick up before we get there. Any certain areas we should start at that might yield some fish? Thanks
February 17, 2006 at 6:00 pm #421556Thanks alot for the help guys. As of right now we are leaning towards mille lacs since its not quite as far as lotw and url and the casino is pretty close too. I think we are gonna stay in a motel close to the lake and fish out of our portables. Any recommendations for hotels in the area that are decent, and which resort would you go out of? Thanks again

The ice conditions at bussey are fishable. You have to watch where you walk getting onto the ice but it is possible. I was up at bertom last friday and the shoreline was a little iffy but once you got on there was still a good 6-8 inches of solid ice. I would say you should be fine at bussey, not sure about greymore though. I’ve heard the bite at bussey has been slow and the fish are running on the small side. Good luck!Schrobie
August 28, 2005 at 4:17 pm #380704We were up there last friday and managed to boat 11 walleyes ranging from 14-21 in. Along with 3 smallies that measured between 18-19in. All of the fish with the exception of one small walleye were taken off of the same rockpile on the south east end. All of the fish came on #5 shad raps in the perch and crawdad colors in 6-10 fow.

July 28, 2005 at 1:58 am #375174Thanks for the info guys. Looks like we will be staying at twin pines resort during the week of august 12-19. We were at LOTW last year and we wanted to try somewhere different this year. We are still looking for a guide during one of those days if any of you on here are available during that time and wouldnt mind doing a full day trip you can shoot me an email. Thanks again
July 25, 2005 at 12:37 am #374538Looks like were going to mille lacs right now. Was wondering if anyone has any info on lodging preferably on the lake. Also is there any certain techniques or areas to concentrate on that time of the year. Thanks
July 20, 2005 at 12:00 am #373869The spillway area is usually pretty good this time of the year for bass when the water is low like it is now. Try throwing a white fluke or slug-go up in the shallow rapids for a smallie, this area is most productive in the evening. A couple more areas to try for bass are bussey which is right above the dam, usually good in the morning throwing some sort of scum frog in the weeds along the dredge cuts, and swift slough which is almost directly across from the boat ramp. Gonna head up thursday and try for smallies, i’ll give you a better report then.

May 26, 2005 at 3:19 am #364943Thanks for the info so far guys. Yes it is the moose lake near hayward,I should have stated that from the beginning .Is there any good maps of the lake that we could get that would show some specific structure of the lake such as rock piles or sunken islands and possibly which type of fish key on these areas at certain times of the year? Thanks again.
