My grandmother’s secret recipe calls for a 3-to-1 ratio. I use 3 cups of water to 1 cup of wild rice. Here’s a condensed recipe…

Soak wild rice in cool water for 10-15 minutes and clean by removing floating elements.
Add 1 beef bouillian cube and 1/4 teaspoon salt
Bring the rice to a good boil, remove from heat, cover the pot and let cool. Once cool, place on heat and bring back to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat, cover the pot and let cool. Repeat this process until the water in the pot is completely absorbed into the rice. The rice is now cooked and ready for final preparations.

This is the long way of preparing the rice, but if you try it this way, you’ll never prepare it differently. Feel free to send me a PM if you’d like more info.

I had similar issues last year when I was in 10′ or less. I tried the hard reset and spent some time on the phone with Lowrance making sure I had the current software updates, etc. My problem was the transducer. I put a new transducer on (replaced one that was only 2 years old) and everything works fine. Hopefully that’s all it is in your case.

Another anchor that works well for me is the Digger Anchor. It works very well in the wind, but I don’t fish in a lot of current where I know the spike works very well. As Jason mentioned, the key is making sure you let out enough line. The general rule I’ve been told is to let out 5 feet for every foot of depth you are fishing in (fishing in 20 feet x 5 = 100 feet of anchor line). The nice thing about the Digger anchor is that you don’t use chain to attach to the anchor itself.

I had similar issues with a Mercury last year. I’d suggest checking for obstruction in the line, but perhaps taking it to an access (if one’s close by) or a bulk tank, and running the motor while the boat is on the trailer. If the muffs aren’t on just right, there may not be enough water going in to the motor. Just something to consider before replacing things that may not be broken.

I found a solution of 50% vinegar and 50% water works well. I keep a spray bottle with the solution and try this on the hard to remove spots. Good luck!

I agree with Ben. I had an X-25 and had problems marking fish until I updated the software. I downloaded the update from Lowrance, but I know some places will update the unit for you.

I think you will be very satisfied with the 48″ sock. I’ve run the same Drift Control sock that James referred to on a 17ft Warrior and it worked very well. They deploy nice and dry quickly.

The last Dome Home Opener I’ll be there!

I’m actually more excited to see Liriano pitch the opener, but hope Baker’s injury is minor and that he’s back in the rotation in a couple of weeks.

    GO TWINS!

You might want to check your electrical grounds at the gauges and what not. It may be just that simple. Check (loosen and re-tighten all other connections) before takin’ it to your local repair shop. The simpliest little bit of corrsion will drive mechanics crazy………

Thank you for the input. I disconnected and reconnected the cranking battery, but did not check the gauges yet. I will do that next.

I agree with Matt, sell it. I’ll give you $301.

I bought one from Scott a couple of years ago and ran it side by side with a Vexilar FL-20. I’ll never use the Vexilar again. I’m keeping my Vexilar for my 2-year old son to use in a couple of years. I don’t want to spoil him with the LX-5!
