I do love the In Depth Outdoors shows, and watch them all. It would be nice at some point to have a show that goes through that whole process of finding, or possibly not finding the ticket to get the fish to hit. It wouldn’t be as exciting possibly, but more realistic for the majority of us. Just a thought…… I would be happy to be the person struggling on one of the shows, and even have myself shown up on how to get it done… ;)

Thanks for all of the thoughts and suggestions. I do enjoy the challenge, but it can be frustrating at times. Still I guess it is better than sitting on the couch or at work. I will keep at. No magic, just putting in the time and effort.

I almost always have a pole with a bobber and a minnow on a plain hook or a jig. I also get it that the fishing shows show only the best and get tips on where hot bites are. Just looking for possible help to be more successful. Thanks for your reply.

Thank you for your responses. I also got similar basic information from Humminbird. The waypoint and routes will share, but that is it. In our case that is basically what we are needing. The Helix unit will be used to grid searching and the Solix will be for the actual images. So hoping it all works as we planned.

The posts have been very helpful. I think I am leaning towards the Marcum Recon 5. I don’t think I need the added features of the “Plus” and I did find a reconditioned Aqua Vu Micro 5 fro $239, but for $290 I can get a new Marcum.
Appreciate all the wisdom and experience shared. Heres to a fun season of ice fishing!

That is where I am at as well. I can get an aqua vu for $160 or spend the $350 or more on the Marcum. Is it worth the double cost? Hard to know until you really use them, but that is what I was hoping to hear from users. Thanks for your reply.

I am pretty new to ice fishing and also use an FL 20, which I like. But just looking to up the game some. How was your unit in stained water? My main local lakes are in the 20 ft range and can be rather cloudy.
